Don't go if you want a relaxing holiday. Dogs barked most of the night and into the morning and then the rooster starts. If you want to get a descent nights sleep you wont get it here!. Hotel is basic but adequate, although we had numerous problems with several broken window locks and a very dodgy gas cooker, although maintanence did sort out the windows. Our apartment was on a steep hill so not buggy friendly. Bar was small and got very cramped when family activities were on. Road works were going on during our stay for the hotel that is being built by this hotel, paths in and around the hotel were dug up so walking on/off the complex is difficult to do safely especially with children and as it is on a busy main road. Alvor it's self is lovely, but i definately don't recommend this complex. Spend your money else where!

Okay, I read the reviews before we went (mid-April 2011)and was a bit concerned by some of them. Alvor itself is of course stunning, but this review is supposed to be focused on the accommodation. Alvor is easily walkable from Ferias Appartments if you are able to do so..otherwise, advise taxi or bus. We had no need to and enjoyed walking to and from the town. Stop at Micheals Bar (a local, despite the name) on the walk back, as he does the best Mojita cocktail ever!
I was informed by a local that the Alvor Ferias apartments had a reputation for a place where the drinking english youth..(which sadly I am no longer)stayed, but in the early season when we went, we had absolutely no complaints. The complex itself was lovely for the price; staff were very approachable and even let us run up a bar tab since they closed soon after we arrived (which was very late evening).
We stayed for a week (early April 2011) and the 2 bed apartment was cleaned twice during that time - towels changed once. Staff were friendly and efficient. On site shop quite expensive but then we found the local supermarket badly stocked and expensive too. But we didn't go on holiday to cook! We ate out every evening, which wasn't cheap, but was great.
Would we go back to Ferias Apartments? Yes, but only in early or late season, as I can imagine hoards of kids/youths in the peak months, and I have enough of those myself! No lifts, but lovely marble stairs were a good workout.
Good facilities, remembering you get what you pay for and we were not disappointed. Just keep your expectations realistic for the money. Alvor is amazing - do take the trouble to walk up the sandy beach to the rocks, which have totally gorgeous coves to sunbathe in, with lots of beach bars on the way. Try Tropica and say 'hi' to Ruhi! Also, pick up one of the free maps that are available in lots of places in stands on the pavements..that was totally, can't stress enough, invaluable for where to eat and general locations information - do try to see the church (it's a gorgeous building..). Don Toro do great tapas. Almost everyone speaks English in Alvor, which is just as well because despite my portuguese surname, I can only say 'thanks' and even then, usually get the gender wrong..
Hope this review helps - we had no complaints, but then we were realistic that we had not paid for 5* star accommodation. Everything was clean and comfortable.
We booked with Jet2holidays and they included transfers -you would need transport to get to the Ferias Apartments from the airport.

Apartments where basic but clean maids came in every other day so was ok for the price we paid. Pool area very nice with a pool bar. About a mile walk to alvor village which i must say was beautiful , the harbour on a night andin the day was stunning. Loads of bars and irish bars with live music but no gangs of people just couples and famlies.
We will defo go again soon.xxx

Spent 2 weeks in August in privately owned appartment opposite the supermarket, and loved it,the appart had all mod cons, two balconys(sun traps).Staff were friendly and polite.Had friend's staying in complex appartments and they had no complaints either, as for Alvor itself it is one of the most beautiful place's in europe, beaches to die for great restaurants and bars.Already booked for next year, and can't wait.

We have just returned from Alvor after a brilliant week's stay at the Clube Alvor Feiras Apartments. I have to admit that upon arrival I was a bit disappointed to note that we had actually only booked a one bedroom apartment but, on saying this, the apartments are huge and although equipped very basically, there is everything you need supplied. The children didn't mind sleeping on a camp bed/settee because they were on holiday and my husband and I just pushed the twin beds together to make a double so there was no problem. The maid service was excellent and our bins were emptied every day, the towels were changed promptly and the maids were always polite. There was some noise from the club of a night but that's what you get if you book ahead for a room by the pool..!! There were numerous dogs barking throughout the night but once you've had a few beers/wines you don't even hear them and to be honest we got used to it. Alvor is a brilliant town and we loved it to bits. There is a fantastic Pizza place on the way into the town called "La Piazza" and the food in there was amazing, we ate there three times in all and for a three course meal with two drinks each for the four of us it was never more than fifty euro which was brilliant value. We enjoyed sitting around the pool although the entertainment lady was a pain in the backside shouting for us to play Bingo and Mr & Mrs. when all's we wanted to do was chill and relax but if you just tell her a straight no she doesn't pester you again...!!!! Made lots of lovely new friends and was sorry to leave them but as they say, all good things must come to an end. Alvor we will be back.

My wife and two children aged 4 & 2 have just returned from a two week holiday at the Clube Alvor Ferias. We have never felt so let down by a resort. The reception staff are the rudest people we have ever experienced bar one male member of staff called Santandor or similar. However we cannot fault the service of the bar and restaurant staff. The apartments are spacious but lacking in the sleeping department in terms of bed space for the advertised sleep allowance. Maintenance faults found in the room, some never rectified despite requests. Even basic things like toasters you have to PAY for to hire. Love Alvor itself would definatly go back again and again, but never would we go back to the Clube Alvor Ferias. A real let down and not value for money.

I cant believe this is 3*, should be 1. Could have cried when saw the room and pool. Dirty, no kettle or toaster in self catering. Air con only in lounge. Pool dirty with hardly any shallow end. Appartments 3 storey (no lift) too many for size of pool.Like run down council flats (sorry).Look out for the cleaner who steals the battery from the tv remote control!. Cost 2e for pool and one of the balls were missing. Avoid this place. The older man in reception is very unhelpful.
Drakes in town do a lovely breakfast and evening meals.
