excellent holiday!!
from urd
My girlfriend and I just returned from the President Hotel, after a weeks all inclusive. We had a fantastic holiday and as we got a last minute deal, the value for money made it even better! The hotel room was small, but the LCD TV on the wall made up for that! even with BBC1..so she could still watch Eastenders! and Sky News being the only English Channels, it was a nice touch. The View from our balcony was awful and didnt have any chance of getting any kind of sunshine! again, this didnt bother us too much, and in fact, we were offered (and didnt even have to request it!) a bigger appartment room 100 yards down the road, which did have a sea view, but we turned it down. too far away from the bars! There were 3 small pools and a baby pool. Clean, nice pools and there were no problems getting sunbeds around. The food was outstanding. I filled my boots with the many different meats always on offer at dinner, and my girlfriend often tucked into the salad/pasta, where, again, there was plenty to choose from. I actually did have something different every night. It was also good to have the drinks on tap - litterally. The breakfast was the same, excellent! I like a cooked breakfast, and although the sausages were a bit ropey, they were edibale and the whole vibe in general was good. Especially sitting by the windows overlooking the sea and sun! Again, my girlfriend enjoys the healthy option at breakfast, and there was plenty for her to choose from. The Beach was just across the road to the hotel. It looks tiny but was more than ok just for us two, and even if no beds were available, we bought lilos to lay on. the sea was nice, clean and shallow - which was perfect! also there was a nice bar next to it, but this was not all inclusive! There is a supermarket about a 1 minute walk away, again, very friendly people, often giving us free sweets, and some kind of green special brew drink they had? think it was 100% alcohol! but we took it gratefully - even though it was 10 in the morning!! The staff at the hotel were very friendly, the bar staff, and the animation team, there is always something to do, from darts, to Volleyball and football, and they tried to keep everyone invovled. The entertainment was also good, we enjoyed several shows including Parrot shows and a snake show. Something a little different! as well as Bingo and Quizes. All in the Hotel was very impressive, and in a nicer part of Alcudia. As people we being dropped off from the airport, we were 2nd last to get off, and all the other places didnt look anywhere near as good as the President Hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel on a reasonable budget to any families, or couples of any ages (we are 22 & 24).
very impressed

we returned from a weeks all inclusive in september 2006 very satisfied with a hotel we had booked only days before departure as a last minute break. we arrived at midnight to a warm wellcome and were directed to the dining room where food had been prepared for late arrivals. our room on the sixth floor had the best view (we have experienced from a hotel balcony) of the beautiful bay, and the room was very comfortable with lcd flat screen tv receiving bbc1 and sky news. air conditioning worked well and the landings and rooms appear to be refurbished to a good standard this year. staff in the hotel very friendly and helpful and facilities good i.e 3 pools +1 childrens pool shuttle bus to the port , and golf course a short walk away. small beach across the road from the hotel with very pleasant beach bar. internet access from 4/5 computers in reception and games room/disco for young people. its location is great if you are looking for a quiet holiday as walk to the busy port too long, but taxis were plentiful and only 4 euros. food and dining room good albeit a week of the buffet was enough and we used a local restaurant one night which was excellent. overall very pleased and would recommend to anyone who is able bodied (lots of steps) and looking for a quiet restful holiday in a beautiful cove.
Lovely relaxed hotel, great for families
from Adam111
The Hotel HSM President is a great hotel, a couple of miles away from the heart of Puerto Alcudia. It will suit families with small children and people looking to get away from it all, but probably isn't for people looking for a crazy time with lots of nightlife. The rooms are decent and clean, although the one we received originally was a little small and had a view of a wall. However, we asked at reception if we could change and they found us a larger room with a lovely sea view with no fuss. The facilities are very good, with 3 pools for adults and a childrens pool, the only gripe would be that the 'no reservation of sunbeds' signs are not enforced, and many of the sunbeds are reserved with towels very early. The sports facilities are excellent, with a football pitch, archery range, two superb tennis courts and a volleyball court. We played tennis every day and never had to wait for a court. The beach opposite the hotel is a little small, but you can walk further round the bay (i.e to the left when leaving the hotel) for 15 minutes or so and find a longer beach, which is a bit stony, but the sea is incredibly clear and great for snorkelling (lots of fish!). The main beach in Alcudia can be reached by a 5 minute taxi ride, but it is very crowded in the high season, and the sea looks a bit polluted (you can't see anything underwater), so you are better off staying in Alcandana if you want to swim in the sea. The food in the hotel is decent (but nothing more - think pub grub rather than upmarket restaurant standard). However, the range of food available for each meal cannot be faulted, and we ate at the hotel for nearly every meal.
What an improvement
from Hewsey
The refurbishment and general improvements made to this hotel over the winter months, raising it up to a 4*, really have made a great difference. Having returned 10/08/2006 from a 2 week all-incl. break at The President, I can honestly say that my wife and I, along with our children (12, 14 & 20) have all had an idealic holiday. Apart from our eldest, this is our 3rd stay at this hotel. We weighed up the pro's and con's before booking again this year (e.g. the friendly, caring staff and lovely setting, against the awful and embarrassing behaviour of fellow British holidaymakers) and, we are so glad that we decided to return. The rooms were better (LCL satellite TV, air con etc.), the food was great, with so much choice to suit everyone, the staff were again so friendly and helpful and, to cap it all off, the raising of the quality (to 4*) seems to have detered the 'dross' that we have had to endure as fellow guests previously. It was of course more expensive this year, but was well worth it. We loved it and are happy to recommend The President to couples and families. Owing to the number of steps, it would not suit those that were unable to get around easily. It would also not suit those that want the hectic beach during the day and streets full of bars, shops & diners at night. Although there is plenty to do, this is the only hotel within a residential area that lies about 2 miles away from the main port and beach areas of Alcudia.
Fantastic Time.

All I can say about this holiday is my family and I had a fantastic time. The evening entertainment is A1 for adults and children. The food is out of this world so much to choose from.(You will gain a few pounds) The rooms are plain but clean. 4 pools to choose from. What more can I say but enjoy enjoy. By the way I say again the food is Great.
Everything we expected a truly great holiday
from KINA1
We were lucky enough to go when it was quiet so it was everything we could wish before the crowds came in. My husband and i went away with our 3yr old daughter she had a whale of a time, lots to do for the little ones, games by the pool, mini club and mini discos in the evenings which she looked so forward to. Older kids may get bored as there isn't much for them to do unless they love sitting by the pool all day! the hotel is a good size so wan't worried that my little would stray too far, i always knew she was safe. The hotel rooms are a good size, air conditioned, towels are replaced everyday, there is a LCD TV with all the channels perfect for the world cup which was when we were there! housekeeping is done everyday, the balcony is a good size with table and chairs. the beach is only a few steps down from the hotel and we never had a problem finding a sun lounger. there is also a beach cafe/bar which is part of the hotel which is very nice. the food in the posh dining hall is very nice something for everyone, excellent if your fully inclusive which we were. the staff/chefs are all friendly and could'nt do enough for you. The entertainment staff, Ena, Shu Shu, Melinda, Joe and the team are wonderful, they had us all in stitches which their comedy shows they are truly the life and soul of the hotel as are all the staff at Hotel President. What really makes a good holiday are the people you meet and for the short time we were staying there the other guests have come away as friends to us, so if you were staying there between 27th June- 11th July 2006 thank you for making this a memorable holiday for us! We will be back!!!!
Renewed hotel .....now 4 stars.. something really great
from A TripAdvisor Member
I booked the HSM PRESIDENT because we seen that the hotel has been completely renewed. Nice hotel ,it looks really good. Rooms with seaview, parket on the floor, LCD TV, really smart. The restaurant has a large show cooking and a wide range variety of hot, cold an desserts buffet. Very posh, nothing to be compared with the old PRESIDENT 3*.
fantastic location
from JOC1960
my wife and i went to the president on 10 6 06 for 7 nights.we did not really know what to expect due to the different reviews we had read.we did not think the hotel was worthy of 4 stars.the hotel itself was clean and so were the rooms, they did not seam to clean around the pools at all.the food was great for us as we like to experiment but they did not seam to cater for the british,if we had gone with children we would of been dissapointed as they did not cater for them either. The entertainment was quite naff but they did try.All the staff were very friendly and would go out of thier way to help you .The location made the holiday for us.We would recomend this hotel to couples looking for a quiet holiday with fantastic scenery but only 20min walk to the port of alcudia .
did not appreciate hearing people above us rowing
from A TripAdvisor Member
stayed here with my partner and two children only for one night although was meant to be two as we were travelling around the island. found the rooms tired and rather grim and did not appreciate hearing people above us rowing and keeping us awake. the food was pretty basic catering for the english ;chips for breakfast. The staff were very nice but seemed resigned to the bad behavior of some guests and when we decided to leave a day earlier than arranged could not find our passports which they had required on the first night and mislaid them for about 40 mins mean whille leaving us franticlly searching through our luggage and me stupidly putting my purse down and never finding it again.if you want cheap and cheerful and to be surrounded by brits then this is great but if you want quality; good food;cleanliness and peaceful surrondings give this hotel a miss. we literally fled the place the next day and had to pay for extra accomadation for our last night so it was a dissapionting end to what had been a great trip.

Overall, this isn't a particularly good hotel not worthy of three stars. the food at the hotel is quite limited, chips are available at every meal including breakfast. Although the food is limited on the front by the sea there is a nice little eaterie which does delicious cuisine compared to the hotel (also a good place for a spot of fishing). There is a nice beach in front of the hotel. In aucanada where the hotel is situated activities are quite limited there are two shops and a seafood restaurant. A walk into alcudia takes about 30-40 minutes. A bus ride to alcudia is very cheap at 1 euro it stops outside an arcade near the beach. The hotel is quite big and the lifts are prone to breaking down. The rooms have no air conditioning or television. the rooms are not cleaned regularly and the same goes for the area around the four swimming pools. On the whole a good holiday, shame about the hotel
Decor dated. Accommodation good size but thin walls. Hair drier a joke ! Food generally good and varied but occasionally overcooked. Entertainment sparse, especially for children. Beach picturesque but tiny. A couple of members of staff with an attitude problem but the... more
