Gazza has got to go !
My boyfriend and I have just returned from the Altamar and thought the apartments were fantastic. The only gripe we had was the 'entertainment' staff which consisted mainly of 'Big Gazza'. He liked the sound of his own voice and played the same songs day in, day out. This meant that we HAD to avoid the pool area at all costs rather than listen to him!! The 5o'clock bingo was rather irritating too when we were trying to have a quiet beverage on our balcony at the end of a sunny afternoon..... On a positive note though, the apartments were clean, staff were friendly and we had everything we needed within the area. The local beach - Amadores - was sensational and fully recommend this rather than the main beach in Peurto Rico. I'm sure that we will be going back next year but not sure about the Altamar unless Gazza has been given his P45.
Get Rid of Big Gazza!
We have been to the altamar 5 times before, went last June and was totally disappointed in the entertainment staff. Big Gazza only interested in flogging CD he has put together, plays same old songs time and time again. bring back TRENT, now he knew how to entertain. If your in a large noisy crowd then your alright, but if your in a smaller crowd you tend to get forgotten when it comes to involving people in the entertainment. Other than that it was the same good holiday it usually is, nice hotel , great views, restaurant and bar staff fantastic. food o.k on half board but try the al a carte, beautiful. Pictured myself going back there year after year, but until they get rid of BIG GAZZA, won't be in a rush to go back.
superb !
anyone not likeing the altamar must be a manic depresive ! brilliant for all the familly....:)
Lovely holiday
We have returned some days ago home to Finland from Altamar-hotel. The week was really perfect holiday. Our daugter (12) said that it was like a picture outside, when you in the morning waked up. Thank you and Merry Xmas to all lovely people in restaurant, girls who cleaned our rooms, reception and all others who make our holiday really very nice. We'll hope to be back next year.
we LOVED it an we are goin back soon
Hiya all. We have just got back from the Altamar an it was amazin we are goin back next year in april the was nothin bad about the hotel an the entertainment was perfect especially big gazza vicky an emma the (there the hotel entertainment people) if you are goin any time soon ask big gazza to play summer of 69 an tell him its from tigger an dog scouse girls he will know what ya mean thank you. We never went to the beach so we cant tell ya what that was like but we went out every night to the euopa centre an the commercial centre had some great laughs there. well have a great time an have a drink on us an if you live in liverpool then bring the sun back with ya. ok have a good time bye d bye xxxx
Brill
Had a fantastic time, the rooms are clean, maid in 3 times during our week there. Staff on the front desk were friendly and helpful, as were the restaurant staff could not be faulted. The pools were clean. Though the lift broke down as we left, luckily out luggage was already up. Great views of the sea. Only gribe was the rep's I suppose. Def going back
Fantastic!
I'd definitely go back to the Altamar - it is fantastic for children and there is always something for them to do. There is entertainment everynight in the complex with the Europa Centre 5 mins walk and Peurto Rico where there is ample restaurants and pubs 5 mins in a taxi...which is around 3 euros. There is a amazing sea view from every apartment. I didn't see any mosquitos and only one cockroach. I'd definitely recommend the Zig-Zag Safari excursion - which is one of the funniest entertaining days i've ever had on holiday.
Great Holiday
My husband and I stayed at the Altamar with our 8 year old daughter Mid August. We found the complex very nice although they really do need to consider air conditioning as in August it was stifling. The food was ok but could be a little more varied. Rooms were clean and maid service was excellent. We had heard a lot about the lifts but they were not as bad as we had been led to believe. Overall we had a fabulous holiday, our daughter joined the kids club and made some friends which was a bonus for us as it also gave us a break. Would recommend the Altamar without hesitation but we would go self catering next time. There are too many fabulous restaurants to want to eat in. Gazza and the girls Emma and Hannah were a great entertainment team.
recommended
went to the altamar found it very good the food was acceptable, and although a lot of people mention the lifts in my opinion they added to the fun highly recommended
great place
altamar was excellant me and my boyfriend went here for 1 week. situated on a hill and half an hour walk to beach but taxis are very cheap. Lift is a bit jerky but you get used to it. rooms are spacious and clean although a bit hot so we slept on the balcony every night. only seen one cockaroch but you cant avoid them where ever you go in europe. Would definately go again
