just returned from two weeks at the altamar . we were a party of ten in three famillies ranging from age one to 54 . one family was all inclusive ( ages 21 ,21 and 1) they say food , servicedrinks etc were great . second family (41 , 40 and 14) were half board . they agreed with family one and say that drinks were quite reasonably priced . family 3 (us)( 54, 51, 13 and 11) were self catering but did eat in occasionally . rooms were clean and comfortable , hotel welcoming and staff so friendly and helpful( esspecially the manager who advised us about buses, printed tickets for aqualand , phoned aqualand with our queries and helped us in many more ways ( many thanks to him ) .buses cheap ,taxis too for short journeys . mini golf and bar in europa center brilliant and so welcoming as was miami beach bar in peurto rico shopping center . all in all an amazing holiday ( i actually cried when it was time to go home . ) thank you so much altamar . hope we will see you again soon x thomas cook also had a swap box where people could leave stuff they didnt want anymore so that other guests could make use of it which i thought was a great idea !!!

second time at altamar, and its gone down hill, serouisly in need of a update proper air con, new beds and sofa bed s, as the beds are back breaking. all rooms very dated . some food ok but most of it very poor quality, tried the fruit each day and every peace rotton.u expect food to be repetitive if there 4 2 wks , but not in the first wk. same entertainment as 4 yr ago , update and go with the times, the drinks sytem 2 drinks per person, at one time . the allinclusive arm band s shud have for instance if yr a family of 4 , shud have 4 on it so you can get yr whole family a drink instead o0f having to go backwards and forwards to the bar. maid service rubbish wasz there 4 days and had t phone reception 4 more toliet rolls , bedding and towls to be changed ect . weather fab .

Just came back from an all inclusive week at the Altamar with my girlfriend. We are a young couple (20 & 23) and we had a fantastic time! It was everything we were hoping for and even more. The rooms were great (the ceiling fan in the bedroom was a life saver!) and the view was amazing. Our rooms were cleaned every couple of days. The maids and other cleaners did a fantastic job- I even watched them cleaning the pool/pool area one morning and they do a VERY thorough job. The entire place was extremely clean. Both pool areas are really nice (though we preferred the bigger pool!) The food & drink was more than brilliant- plenty of choice every day, which was all good quality food. You are allowed TWO drinks per person at one time with the all inclusive which is completely understandable- and the bar staff have no problem with you coming straight back for more. All the waiter/bar staff are extremely friendly and interactive and usually always have a smile on their faces (look our for Martin's grumpy face when it gets busy at the bar- so funny! all in good nature of course). The evening entertainment was of a good variety and always worth staying at the resort for the evening. There was always something/someone to laugh at! all the entertainers were brilliant. The kids club girls did a great job early on and later the other guys were fantastic. Leanne, Gaz, Becki- all very easy to talk to and have a laugh with. Always entertaining. This is a perfect place for a family holiday or for young couples like ourselves. DO NOT listen to those negative comments because they are only people who were still in work mode and don't know how to relax & enjoy themselves & like nothing better than to complain about petty things! You're holiday is what you make of it! Local beach was clean & beautiful. Taxi down to it very cheap (2.50) and main town close on the opposite side. Would definitely return in going to Gran Canaria. >>All inclusive is a MUST

we were pleasantly surprised by the altamar after reading previous reviews of peoples complaints.I would recommend all my friends to go there.We stayed all inclusive and all meals were nice people complained about the food but I couldnt find any fault with it at all.The rooms were nice with a large balcony overlooking the sea,there was two lovely pools and reception staff were really helpful when I asked for any information,the only thing I would advise the owners to do is,have a word with your bar staff as they were sometimes abrupt and would leave allinclusive guests waiting as they were getting tips from guests who were paying for their drinks. the entertainment team were brilliant with both adults and children congratulations to gazza and leanne

Got back a week ago from the Altamar.suprisingly good for the price we paid.We went b&b and the choice was fab.
Beautiful views,nice and clean,make sure you are good on your legs as there are lots of steps !!. Fattest cat ever lives in the reception.Cant wait to return

had the best time ever in puerto rico staying at the altamar. the entertainment was great especially big gazza. we will be definately coming back one of the best places to go and stay would recommend to anybody. clean and tidy rooms the lift is a bit of a pain but it doesnt really bother you. we cant wait to go back !!!!

our family have been going abroad for 25years .we went to the altamar for the first time in april 2010 for 2 weeks and loved everything about it the staff are great and gazza and good entertainment sea views from your rooms amazing we are going back again next year in may 14th the 6 of us and cannot wait

just got back from a week in gran canaria, stayed at the altamar,half board, ok if you like cold food and going up and down in the lift all day that is like a greenhouse, we went with our two kids one of four and one who as just turned one, we asked for a middle floor so they gave us the bottom floor just to make things extra difficult with the buggy, there was only one waiter who was always happy to help, the others were nt intrested in speaking to you only rushing to take your plate as soon as the knife and fork went down, more or less the same food every day,sheets wernt changed once, ceiling fans that make loud noises all night and balconys that dont have gates on them so the kids can escape and fall over the edge that have big drops to the floors below.theres a spar shop on site where the staff seem to see it as a chore to serve you.shopping centre not to far away were you get hounded at every shop you go past, gets abit boring after a while.would nt reccomend for familys with small kids.

We have been coming to The Altamar for 13 years now,the last time being in July 2010. We will be returning for Christmas,flying out on the 13th of December until the 27th of December. Evertime we have stayed here,everyone has been so very friendly,maids,bar staff,waiters(especially Carlos)Always make you feel welcome! That's why we have kept coming back!! Gazza (entertainment manager) is FABULOUS! Never disappoints!Can't wait to go back in December!The Leek family

First time at the Apartments basic but very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Two good Pools great entertainment most nights spent 14 nights on self catering cost eating out not too bad, there were 3 of use prices ranged from 21 Euros to 42 euros this included drinks(Not big drinkers) did have a meal at the Altamar which was tasty, weather between mid to high 30c. Taxis cheap enough if you wanted to go locally. Would go back with no hesitation. A bit too hot for my daughter would go early or late in the year (cooler).
