" ok "
Submitted By: caznfiloften had to wait for a table.
we went on a train ride my daughter was even greatful for this she is 20, this cost 10 euros each, had to book at the hotel (nothing to tell you about trips ect you have to ask)
over all if you are looking for a holiday close to the beach, happy to sit and read a book, enjoy walking and entertaing your self then this is for you, if not book els where. we were not looking for a holiday that was party party, but we thought there would have been more to do, water sports are down the beach a little way, again nothing anywhere to tell you this only found it when we went for a walk.
Good for: Beach
" brilliant "
Submitted By: julxsfood well cooked, hot and tasty, yes it gets repetative, but it is a buffet. Cool air conditioned restaurant.
We had no complaints with the hotel, but our holiday was spoiled by the awful service ( non exsistant) by the Thomas cook supervisor who insisted we were not booked on the flight home as our names were not on their list. they admitted they had the wrong one. We had to fight ( verbally) to get on that flight home and because of this although we could have been seated together, she deliberatly sat us seperatly. my 13 yr old son in row 46 me row 20 my husband 17. Never again Thomas cook
Advice: very secluded, not much to see out and about
Activities: brilliant waves for lilo, bit rough for yooung children
Good for: Beach
" Didn't want to come home!! "
Submitted By: FrazzleFood was amazing! Loads of choice, plenty of traditional Creten food to try (which we did!), delicious. For the not so adventurous and children there was always a safe choice (pizza, burgers, chips, etc!!).
Beach and pool area clean with plenty of sunloungers and parasols. Poolside snack bar was handy for a quick bite when relaxing serving toasties, kebabs, pizza and chips etc.
Pool bar was great, never queing for very long if at all. Staff fun and friendly. Lots of choice on AI drinks including an extensive cocktail menu (leathal!). Drinks were served in regular glasses which was a relief, have many bad memories from other AI holidays drinkin from tiny plastic cups.
Entertainment was not 5*, ok, but very fun. Lots of activities on during day, vollyball, water polo, bowels on beach and aqua aerobics. On an evenig the animation team got everyone involved, without bullying! Bingo, tombola, kids disco, games, dancing and a Miss Neptuno Beach comp which was hilarious! There were guests from all over europe but everyone got on well together despite the language barrier.
Hotel offerd day trips out which were all reasonably priced. We did Spinalonga and thoroughly enjoyed it. Boat trip with BBQ and tour round island which was really interesting. Then boat back to Aggios Nikkalaos, a beautiful port, for free time to do whatever you fancied.
Surrounding area from hotel was not amazing but had plenty of bars, shops and restaraunts all in walking distance. Locals were really welcoming especially Mario in AutoStop bar. Legend!
Would definately go back to Neptuno, we had a lovely time. Would reccomend this to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Crete x
Advice: Small, friendly and quiet. Not for anyone seeking the nightlife!!
Activities: AutoStop, atmosphere, staff and cocktails were unbeatable!!
Good for: Beach

The manager of this hotel is unpolite and unrespectfull with its customers when we asked hiom to find a siolution to solve his water problem and maybe povide us other room temporarly... with 20 persons have water shortage every days the seconf week of july the last week te mamager just said i dont care this is not my problem... plese contact the tour operator..

Submitted By: Mrs E MorleyThe first room given to us you couldn't swing a cat in. It was very small, even the bath was half the size of a normal bath. The balcony was the width of a small patio table. View was lovely. Due to having a small child and the size of the balcony we requested a change to a ground floor room. Reception staff very helpful and changed the next day. Still room wasn't massive, but better than previously.
I have listed below the good and bad points of the holiday:
GOOD
Sun - Very hot every day
Big Pool - Good Size and clean
Food - Good variation of food, not always hot, but due to amount to cater for very good
Cleaniness - Rooms and hotel clean. Towels changd and beds made every day
Aqua Park - Very good day out
BAD
Childrens Pool - Too small. Three children and a floaty and it would be full
Drink - Beer from Pool Bar warm every day.
Mini Club - Not happy with the Mini Club at all. My 3 years 11 month old son wanted to go to the mini club and the bloke there said it was OK to leave him and he will bring him back to the Pool. After 30 min, my son came running back to me by himself. When I took him back the man was no where to be seen. He had left him with no supervision other than the other kids.
Beach - Beach not cleaned. Litter and fag butts all over. Would not let my son play on it
Local Area - Hotel is placed in a non tourist area. No places to walk too, other than a couple of restaurants and a few shops.
Evening Entertainment - This was non exisistant while we were here. Out of the seven nights, there was 1 night of greek dancers and 1 night of the children doing a show, other than that after the childrens dance hour there was bingo bonga. Not what I would call good entertainment. As there was no where to walk too, you couldn't even go anywhere.
Late Check Outs - I requested a late check out as my plane was leaving early hours in the morning. As requested I asked the day before my departure and was told that we could have the room untill 2 am that morning. I returned the next day to pay but was told that we could only have the room now until 18.00 for 20 euros. I stayed in the reception requesting the speak to the reservations manager. Finally after an hour, I didn't get to speak to the reservations manager but did get the room until 2am. Quite a few people was moaning about this.
Overall I wouldn't go back to this hotel again and I wouldn't recommend to anyone else.

Submitted By: Mr J WarhamWhen we arrived we had booked two twin bedded rooms and were given two doubles. The hotel changed this on request but were initially difficult about it but as our booking clearly showed two twins specified they did change it during the evening of arrival.
Overall the hotel was lovely and clean outside the rooms and the staff always polite and helpful except some of the reception staff could be a bit grumpy. During the second week two of our party developed gastroenteritis (stomach upset) resulting in vomiting & diarrhea for two-three days. Other persons in the hotel were also suffering from the same symptoms.
Room cleanliness:- The bathroom was not always cleaned as well as would be expected and there also appeared in both rooms to be a smell from the drains.
Inside the rooms clean towels seemed only to be provided if you left your towel in the bath or on the floor. The aircon worked well but did seem to blow directly towards the beds. This could be adjusted if you found the extra buttons hidden on the remote control.
Food:- The food overall was good however the hot food was not always piping hot and the salad seemed on occasion to attract some flies. The deserts where excellent. The restaurant opened out to the pool via a conservatory which was hot. The hotel was in the process of installing airconditioning in this part.
Drink:- Drinks from the bar were plentiful and the service was good for an all inclusive holiday.
Pool:- The large pool was 2.6 m deep at the deep end and over 1 m at the shallow end so OK for all good swimmers. The childens paddling pool was small but OK.
Surroundings:- The beach was great and easily accessible from the hotel which provided free sunbeds and towels on the beach.
Getting to the town centre from the hotel involved negotiating a small part of main road where there was no pavement. Any one with small children and a buggy would find this difficult to negotiate especially at night. The small town centre itself Amoudara was not particularly attractive but had a food range of gift shops & restaurants as well as a large supermarket.
Entertainment:- Toto the entertainer was always on hand and entertainment followed the normal theme for med hotels including the mini disco, Volleyball, Boules etc.

Submitted By: Mr J FISHERAll of us agree it was most probably the best holiday we have had.
From the moment we got there, the staff and facilities were first class.
I would recomend this location to anyone.
The staff were friendly, polite, and very helpful.
The food was excellent with plenty of choice, variety, and the restaraunt was spotless.
The rooms were fine, with everything you need, we went to be in the sun and in crete, not in our rooms.
The entertainment was good, and Toto and Diago worked hard, to make it an enjoyable experience.
We will not hesitate to return

Submitted By: Ms W KeeleyWe booked this hotel after reading all the good reviews, as most other places had very mixed reviews. I have to say, I wish we hadn't. We have been on many all inclusive holidays but in all honestly this was the poorest. We are definitely not the fussy type of people that are never satisfied and make the best of whatever we get. The food was the biggest disappointment, actually made us feel quite ill after the first 2/3 days. Usually we would have just gone to eat out but there was literally nowhere near to have that option! No real evening entertainment as such, although this didn't really bother us that much (good job we enjoy each others company) but could be a problem for some.
Had a few days of lovely weather but a couple of days of storms, this actually caused leaks throughout the hotel which resulted in towels being put around everywhere to try and soak up all the water (buckets may have been a better option!).
I would not recommend this hotel like most others we have been to.

Submitted By: Miss P SwallowThere was some confusion when we first checked in, we'd got a double room and had asked for a twin. This was rectified without the trauma and stress I have witnessed elsewhere.
I broke my wrist whilst here and Ibo, Toto and the hotel staff were more constructively helpful than the Argo holiday rep.
The facilities were excellent. Very close to the sandy beach and also a clean pool with plentiful sunbeds. It was also nice to see that the 'towel on the sunbed' race didn't happen too often.
The food was excellent and plentiful and catered for all. Local delicacies as well as English breakfast.
We didn't venture too far from the hotel, but what we did see were plentiful shops and tavernas.
The evening entertainment was good although my only criticism is that some of us do like to sit and soak up the atmosphere rather than play bingo!

Submitted By: walter999The Hotel is down a poor side road which leads to the beach and has some dodgy bars in it.
When you walk into the reception it’s a different world. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The cleaners are hard at work from 7 am to 10 pm. They sweep the car park every day!
It’s a small hotel, about 140 rooms which we found ideal because there was no queuing for anything. Mealtimes are long and so no rushing, the dining room is very tasteful with everything matching, The furniture is real wood not plastic, real cloths, Proper china etc.
The food is a good mix of spicy Med and rational English so you can get meatballs in tomato sauce with brussel sprouts and mash, if you wanted to. Plenty of sweets and ice-cream although the sweets are the same every day. People have said that the food is the same but that’s what buffet hotel catering is about, using leftovers. A good chef can always use leftovers and they do here.
Try the Greek potato omelette or the stuffed courgettes. I could go on but there is always someone to moan. The pool is a reasonable size and clean and there’s always plenty of sun beds.
The only bar that was in use was the pool bar but that opens at 10 and closes at 12pm so that’s OK. Hot bar snacks are there all day and at night the entertainment focuses on the pool bar area. Although the entertainment is at times rather juvenile it can be funny. It consist of bingo and audience participation games. Funny if it’s not you being laughed at.
The beach is very good and right behind the bar area. All in all we had a very relaxed time and would certainly go back, others might not agree, especially the lady who took her bottle of HP sauce to every meal (I kid you not) or the chap who was there for 7 days and went out for Sunday lunch and complained because he couldn’t get a curry (there is a Chinese and Indian in the village).
Well worth the money if you get a good deal.

This is our second review and I must say that the Neptuno Mareblue Hotel is set-up and catered for OAP's.
How disappointed we were to find that we were on a 'saga' resort.(both of us in early 40's)
The previous reviews must have been written by the over 50's apart from the 1/10 rating.
This holiday was an insight into retirement and now I want to work 'till I'm 70!
Hotel food was excellent 9/10, Hotel reception area very clean 8/10, Helpful receptionist with attitude problem 7/10,
Weekend shift of cleaners/ chambermaids never cleaned or changed anything in our room! 4/10
Thomas Crook Holiday Rep seen ONCE in our holiday on our second day and couldn't arrange a trip for us to the caves at the south of Crete, then she disappeared from the complex never to be seen again.3/10
Boredom had set in with the entertainment in the evenings..3/10 (occasional laugh with the gruesome two-some of entertainers 'Catastroph')
Beach was nice 8/10 albeit apart from condoms, stray dogs and some rubbish on it.
There are two bars in the Hotel complex and only one was EVER open, the pool bar, very disappointing 4/10
Entertainment was only until 10.30pm then the sound system was turned down, even on a saturday night! 3/10
Repetitive music with no variation every night 3/10 (yes, we could guess the next song)
Sleeping at night was horrendous due to inconsiderate old gits who had to shout in the corridors to hear each other, which echoed into the rooms.
The fact that we booked 7 night stay and only slept 6 nights in our beds due to the awful flight times was bad enough but, when we had to PAY EXTRA to keep our rooms from 12 noon to 02:30hrs was far too far!
Needless to say, we won't be back! Note: This was our first ever holiday we never took ANY photos although I had my camera it was that good!
And as for or Thomas Crook, totally disappointing outfit when we paid around the same for an all inclusive Holiday to Sharm El Sheikh three years ago and rated it 10/10 how things have slipped over time..
Good for: Beach
