The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff always polite and helpful. Clean towels and linen daily. Pool area and rooms cleaned daily.
There was some confusion when we first checked in, we'd got a double room and had asked for a twin. This was rectified without the trauma and stress I have witnessed elsewhere.
I broke my wrist whilst here and Ibo, Toto and the hotel staff were more constructively helpful than the Argo holiday rep.
The facilities were excellent. Very close to the sandy beach and also a clean pool with plentiful sunbeds. It was also nice to see that the 'towel on the sunbed' race didn't happen too often.
The food was excellent and plentiful and catered for all. Local delicacies as well as English breakfast.
We didn't venture too far from the hotel, but what we did see were plentiful shops and tavernas.
The evening entertainment was good although my only criticism is that some of us do like to sit and soak up the atmosphere rather than play bingo!

The resort of Ammoudara, no matter how you look at it is only average and the end where the Neptuno is located is poor. It’s a long strip of bars, shops, apartments, hotels and wasteland. At the Neptuno end it’s like derelict village until you come to a brand new Carrefour’s and LIDLs at the worst traffic junction I have seen.
The Hotel is down a poor side road which leads to the beach and has some dodgy bars in it.
When you walk into the reception it’s a different world. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The cleaners are hard at work from 7 am to 10 pm. They sweep the car park every day!
It’s a small hotel, about 140 rooms which we found ideal because there was no queuing for anything. Mealtimes are long and so no rushing, the dining room is very tasteful with everything matching, The furniture is real wood not plastic, real cloths, Proper china etc.
The food is a good mix of spicy Med and rational English so you can get meatballs in tomato sauce with brussel sprouts and mash, if you wanted to. Plenty of sweets and ice-cream although the sweets are the same every day. People have said that the food is the same but that’s what buffet hotel catering is about, using leftovers. A good chef can always use leftovers and they do here.
Try the Greek potato omelette or the stuffed courgettes. I could go on but there is always someone to moan. The pool is a reasonable size and clean and there’s always plenty of sun beds.
The only bar that was in use was the pool bar but that opens at 10 and closes at 12pm so that’s OK. Hot bar snacks are there all day and at night the entertainment focuses on the pool bar area. Although the entertainment is at times rather juvenile it can be funny. It consist of bingo and audience participation games. Funny if it’s not you being laughed at.
The beach is very good and right behind the bar area. All in all we had a very relaxed time and would certainly go back, others might not agree, especially the lady who took her bottle of HP sauce to every meal (I kid you not) or the chap who was there for 7 days and went out for Sunday lunch and complained because he couldn’t get a curry (there is a Chinese and Indian in the village).
Well worth the money if you get a good deal.

We have just returned home from a 2 week all inclusive holiday at Neptuno Beach hotel and it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The hotel was very clean and tidy, upon arrival the reception staff were very helpful and carried our cases to our rooms for us, once we had unpacked we went to check out the pool area and bar. The bar staff were excellent, they were very friendly and coped well with all the different nationalities, they were kept busy all day but still managed a smile and a bit of a chat.
The snack bar was always well stocked and if toasties or anything ran out you just let the bar staff know and they would be filled straight away. The food in the restaurant was good, there was plenty of variety and the kitchen and waiting staff were always very friendly and helpful, even chef mingled with the guests and was always happy to stop and talk to people when he wasn't busy.
The cleaning staff were working every day, the rooms were cleaned daily and the maids used to leave us nice bow patterns made from clean towels on our beds which we used to like to see after a day round the pool, the cleaning staff were always polite and smiling. If you reported a repair to reception the repair would be done within the hour nothing was too much bother for them.
The entertainment was brilliant, non-stop from 10-30 through to tea-time then 8.30 to midnight. Toto,Ibo and Eva were excellent, they tried to get everyone involved with aqua aerobics, water polo, darts, beach volleyball and mini-olympics for the kids. We travelled as 2 families, with 3 adults and 3 teenagers and there wasn't a time when any one of us were bored. We joined in most of the daytime activities and be warned, don't sit behind the goals when water polo is on as it gets a little bit competitive when the adults are playing and you may get hit with the ball or end up going over the wall for it, but it is all good fun.
The evening entertainment starts with the mini disco which the adults enjoy as well, then there is bingo bongo or tombolla wombolla which goes on for about an hour because it is translated into about 6 different languages by Toto and Eva which adds to the fun. After that the evening games start which relies on audience participation and we certainly did a lot of that. We have never laughed so much as there are people from UK, Germany, Russia, Poland, Holland and other various places and Ibo tries to get a mixture of nationalities to take part in the games which makes it a lot more fun and helps people from different countries to get to know each other. We really enjoyed the entertainment and were upset to find that Monday was the entertainment teams day off, even though they deserve it we really missed them on a Monday.
On the last day of our holiday the animation team gave us a great farewell, both Ibo and Toto came and had a drink with us before saying goodbye and we all joined in the group dance {you are the one your my number 1} around the pool which was very funny.
We will definately return in the near future it was a 10/10 holiday, thanks to the bar staff Vicky,Yamis and Katrina for great service with a smile and especially to crazy wazy Toto,I bo and Eva hope to see you all soon.
Mr Neptuno [with the belly welly], Alan Parker. James Wames, Paul McCartney, lazy girl Lauren and Sandy Pandy UK.

We arrived on my birthday Tues 19 6 07 to a beautiful sunny day. Everyone was very welcoming.
The accommodation was clean air conditioned and with all we needed. The restaurant provided a good choice every day and we were served by very friendly organised staff.
The pool bar and beach were well maintained and there was always a drink or snack available.
The entertainment did not stop all the time we were there! Something for everyone, beach volley ball, boule to darts and pool aerobics. Toto from the Animation Team was always available to help and entertain us with bingo, dancing and games!
Even though we arrived in a heat wave - we could keep cool by the pool bar!! We had a fantastic experience on the jeep safari. The views were breathtaking!
We made many friends and everyone looked after my mum who is in her 70s. We all had a wonderful time and would recommend it to everyone!

We returned from holiday at this resort in June and found the hotel to be very clean, the staff friendly and it was worth the cost. The food was nice and plentiful, but did not like the idea of no baked beans with the full English! The drinks were full strength as a previous review stated and this area too was kept clean. We had a great time and met up with some great people from all corners of the earth!!

We had the most wonderful holiday even with the Heat wave. From the moment we awoke until we went to bed the weather stayed the same sunny and hot.
The accommodation was spacious and air conditioned so we slept very well. There was a good choice of food and drinks throughout the day with the Pool Bar serving extra drinks and snacks if needed. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
Every age group was catered for. My mum who was in her 70s enjoyed the whole experience.
Everyone looked after her. Toto the entertainer was always on hand with a friendly smile and encouraged even the most reluctant to party during the evening and exercise throughout the day!
There were beach and pool sports for the more enthusiastic. There was dancing and games at night. We met lots of good friends. The beach and pool bar were relaxing. We enjoyed the excursions we went on especially the jeep safari. Thanks to all for a wonderful experience.

The Hotel is also known as the Neptuno Orange Beach Resort.
Location: Set in a narrow busy street leading off the main road. It is situated in a town called Ammoudara which is located just outside Heraklion (6KM). Ammoudara Main Street is very busy and does not have pavements in some parts of the road.
There is a local bus service which takes you into Heraklion for 1.3 Euros. The bus runs every 20 mins. From Heraklion you are able to catch buses to anywhere.
Room: Was quite big and clean with a fridge provided, Dressing gowns, and slippers also provided. Beach Towels are provided on request at reception, deposits are required.
Staff: The staff were very pleasant and helpful but like everywhere there is the odd one or two. Reported to reception that the air-con was leaking when going for breakfast on return the maintenance person was repairing it.
Some rooms do not have plugs in sink and when asking for one they try to discourage you from having any but insist and they will provide. Only one pillow each requested more and again delivered within 30 mins.
Bar staff work very hard and long hours and don’t recognise who is next but I don’t think that this is intentional.
Cleanliness The Hotel is very clean and throughout the day and evening there are cleaners around. Although it states the cleaners work 6 days a week they cleaned the room’s everyday while we were there.
Restaurant: Clean and plenty of tables to eat on. Selection of food limited but always warm. Fish, 2 meats or more, Pate, Salads always provided. Breakfasts are continental not the British breakfast although fried eggs & Bacon were served. You must try some of their fresh bread, I will miss that.
The snack bar was of a very poor selection compared to other all-inclusive places I have been to.
Swimming pool & Beach: Kept clean and no need to get up crack of dawn for the towel rush. Although by 10.30 you would struggle to get a lounger in the pool area, the sun loungers on the beach were also free and were plentiful but beware they also let them out to non-hotel residents for a charge.
Clientele: The hotel Clientele is made up mostly of Belgium, French, with the rest German, Polish, Russian, Romania & British. There was about 5 families from the UK, It was the first time that I have ever stayed in a hotel with so many nations and British being the minority.
So my first thoughts were want have I let myself in for I needed have worried. It was the first time that I have ever stayed in a hotel with so many nations and British being the minority. Unlike myself the other nations could speak several languages including some English.
All the nations were friendly especially the polish families we met. In the past I have tried to avoid hotels which are full of other nationalities but after this holiday is would not worry me at all.
Entertainment: The entertainers tried very hard and worked very hard to entertain us but due to all the nations there it was difficult. Overall the entertainment in the day was good but entertainment in the night was poor.
Toto stood out for me with his efforts and love for the job he does. Due to only one bar by the pool and entertainment area there was not anywhere you could go for a quiet drink.
General: The Airtours rep was like the scarlet pimpernel unable to locate him. He was not at the hotel 3 days of the week and then he was very hard to find. Any person who likes going on excursions I suggest you go to Heraklion and visit the information centre in the bus station and you could save pounds by booking there. Hiring of a car check the rental places because prices vary.
This the first time that I decided not to hire a car because the driving skills of the locals was nowhere near the skills of the UK.
We visited the Aquarium which was well worth the cost but beware local buses are not always reliable.
Although I would not go back to this area again I would visit Crete again. I would recommend this hotel to people who like a quiet Hotel beach holiday.

Had a great holiday, it rained for the 1st 3 days but beautiful weather after. The entertainment was brilliant for both adults and children and Ibo and Toto were illuminating!
We spent the 1st few days inside as weather restricted us from venturing out but Vicky was very pleasant on bar and they had books and games inside so you could amuse yourself. When weather cleared up they opened the outside bar which was slightly chilly at times but what you expect at this time of year, we sat up the bar every night and were highly entertained by Antonio and Yorgos (aka gorgeous) they were just doing their jobs but were brilliant!
As soon as our glass was empty it was refilled automatically and when we got fed up with a certain drink they dreamed up another concoction to tickle our taste buds. Our room was fine for the stay the maids cleaned and tidied it as and when required. The restaurant staff always worked hard every sitting ensuring that all tables were set up and cleared.
We paid a minimal amount for this trip and got more than our moneys worth and would definitely go again. I'm certain that if all the staff that were there this year stay for the next season this hotel will just get better and better.

Hakuna Matata!!
What a week of fun & laughs we had. If you want to join in the entertainment and let your hair down or sit back and relax this is the hotel for you, it definitely was for us!
The day starts with Water Gym a must after too many Raki (don’t forget the eyes), Ouzo or Tequila the night before!! The animation team of Ibo & Toto kept us entertained all week long. Toto is unique and a little bit crazy wayzy and has a hat for every occasion. Ibo a really funny friendly guy nothing is too much trouble and he did the best striptease we have seen, I swear, really!!
The Hotel itself was good, everything was clean and staff were very friendly and helpful.
A week was not enough and we had a REALLY REALLY good time & we hope you enjoy the chocolate mousse as much as we did.
Sunstar Leisure get 0/10 didn't see or hear from the Rep all week!!

Have just returned from one week at Neptuno with my husband and another couple. Bit apprehensive at first as never been on all inclusive but need’nt have bothered.
Everything was fantastic (only gave rating of 9 rather than 10 due to mishap with luggage arriving 24 hours later). The reception staff were friendly and helpful, maid service excellent, room fantastic - had originally been allocated garden view but waking up the next morning in daylight found we were in a room in the older block with fantastic sea and mountain views.
Food brilliant and the highlight of the holiday was the animation team - especially Toto - what a star. I would thoroughly recommend this place for a holiday and definitely will return.

I've given this holiday 6/10 only because the hotel was very clean and I actually liked the little touches like the slippers and bathrobes in room!
We booked this hotel after reading all the good reviews, as most other places had very mixed reviews. I have to say, I wish we hadn't. We have been on many all inclusive holidays but in all honestly this was the poorest. We are definitely not the fussy type of people that are never satisfied and make the best of whatever we get. The food was the biggest disappointment, actually made us feel quite ill after the first 2/3 days. Usually we would have just gone to eat out but there was literally nowhere near to have that option! No real evening entertainment as such, although this didn't really bother us that much (good job we enjoy each others company) but could be a problem for some.
Had a few days of lovely weather but a couple of days of storms, this actually caused leaks throughout the hotel which resulted in towels being put around everywhere to try and soak up all the water (buckets may have been a better option!).
I would not recommend this hotel like most others we have been to.
