Hi, we have just recently returned from our first time in Pefkos after booking a last minute cheap deal. Having never been to Rhodes but to other Greek Islands (Zante & Kos), I had a rough idea of what it would be like and I had done some research on the resort etc, but I could not find anything on the Alex Studios, this now turns out to be because they are fairly new.
This being so as the other reviewer has noted they are very clean with maid coming in every day except Sundays and clean towels/bedding every couple of days. The room is a studio with a basic electric 2 ring hob, electric kettle and plates and cutlery etc. Twin beds which were quite comfy. The bathroom had a very small bath with a shower attachment attached to the wall but could be removed and above all else it had a shower curtain yay, so the floor remained dry.
It was very hot when went although I'm sure not as hot as July and August, the rooms do have air con which can be operated once you have paid the tour reps etc, the cost is 55 euros I think, quite expensive but I would recommend allowing some of your spends (or bring extra) to cover this as we had a few restless nights as did many.
Please be aware of the mosquitoes they really did have a feast, I started out Ok and my husband to the brunt then I got attacked, you might want to take your vitamin B tablets a few weeks in advance and take as many precautions as possible with electric plug ins etc.
The pool (that the studio shares) is down a very uneven short path so take care, but the pool is lovely with free sun loungers and very nice pool bar staff. The pool bar isn't cheap, cheap but it offers a lovely range of basic snacks etc.
The resort it's self is fairly quiet running from a steep hill down to the main resort and then the beach. With one long strip of bars, cafes and restaurants with a few small roads off this leading to the beach which contain again bars and supermarket etc. The restaurants are varied from Chinese (However the Red Dragon with the combined Greek restaurant, made my husband very ill the night we ate there, from the egg fried rice not being quite right), to Italian restaurants to the traditional Greek.
I recommend the Hellas and Georges however if you are going to push the boat out walk along the main beach until the very end and you will see a notice board for the Phillisopha Restaurant which is on the cliff face facing out to the beach and sea, this was recommended on another site and we went there at approx 8pm and watched the sun set truly breathtaking. The menu was limited but they had a specials board, the staff were very friendly. I had a plain pasta with tomato sauce my husband however was blown away with his chicken dish, most dishes are over 10 euros and up but you have to go for the view.
Our favourite place for a drink in evening was the Wild Wild West Bar which some regulars to Pefkos do not rate as they think it is too commercial, not at all it is friendly and fun, we watched England World Cup games here and it was great, ice cold Mythos mmmm, when the games were finished they dress you up in a costume and play music its great. Yianni the bar man was a gem when I lost my engagement ring, he got out his power tools and lifted part of the wooden vaulted floor and retrieved it for me , thank you again Yianni.
However apart form the bars (I don't rate Pefkos by night however others love it!?) there is not much else to do however the Hotel Oasis found on one of the side roads to the beach have quizzes at 10pm most nights this is a great laugh. Don't expect Karaoke or nightclubs this is not the resort for this, it is a family and couple orientated place which was great for a relaxing holiday. I thoroughly recommend Pefkos and the Alex Studios.
Sorry this is long, but sometimes people don't give enough info apologies but I hope this helps you.

This was a last minute holiday,...

Jun 2004, Mr L Smith

This was a last minute holiday, booked 2 days before departure. The brochure description was very accurate.
Whilst the studio’s only offer basic facilities, that is reflected in the price. The studios are bright, very clean, with a good size balcony. Mine had a great view over Pefkos bay.
Taking the direct route back from town meant climbing the hill, which is steep so it wouldn’t be suitable for those with walking difficulties. Alternatively you could take the longer but shallower route around Pefkos by night. But for anyone seeking accommodation & is prepared to forego luxuries such as air conditioning, you could do a lot worse.
Pefkos itself is a great resort if you want to chill out. There are plenty of bars playing different types of music, there are big screens for sports as well. For more adventurous nightlife, Lindos is 1 euro on the bus or 5 euros in a taxi. Take a trip to Rhodes Town for sightseeing and shopping, 3.80 euros each way on the bus.
I just went to chill out for a week: if you are the sort of person that needs to be entertained, go somewhere else, but if you fancy kicking back, watching the world go by with a cold beer in hand, you could do a lot worse.
