It's unbelievable that the following can be experienced in a 4 to 5-star hotel (even by Arabian, not Italian, standard): there were hairs from previous guestS between the sleep mat and the sheet - so disgusting. And the window isolation was practically no existing. Gues how I felt the first night at this hotel!
On the other hand, the show programs (called animation) near the pool in the evenings were excellent, not at least owing to the commitment and good spirits of the young "animators".

We spent the most disgasting holiday in our live so far in Hammamet Vincci Lella Baya. It should be a 5 star hotel -that for what we paid! We have been given at first a room which wasn't clean from the previous guest and at the reception told us we can go to the beach for a hour or have a walk and then the room will be ready. It wasn't the high season the hotel wasn't more then 20% full at 3pm afternoon, there is not explanation about it. Indeed we have been given a second room such a dirty toilet and bath, the TV was made 1996 for a hotel build in 2002. My words stops when I try to find english channels- there was only CNN and BBC1 and that is all. Compare to the bad weather all week around we have to suffer the rude staff and ask more then a few times that we need something to order. The maintanance of hotel was complete nonsense after 5 years of use you can see all the cracks in fasade, dirty walls, the coridors full of scratches, not clean at all. The food was disgasting and all the same for the begining.
This is a not 5 start accomodation -it look like a berberian castle but becouse of people running the hotel and them mentality only can make your break a prison stay.
Locals are extremly high rude and need education. They are most then not wellcome to the hotel but you can still see them around. NO security at all.
So the finale picture was when we try to find a medication from pharmacy at 6am at Hammamet, (there is not first aid at hotel) there was no night pharmacy and indeed we found one at 8am but they couldn't speak english at all so we have to draw a urin sistem, a kidney and stone and explain many times the uboprofen that we need.
This is why we are not going to recommend this hotel at all to you or any of our friends.

Great hotel, as it is very well decorated to give an impression that you are really in a castle.
The room was excellent, clean and for the price I paid it had a nice view on the pool and sea.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and speaks various languages not like other hotels we went in Tunisia that only speak French.
Buffet was very vast and had always fresh, new food every day.
Hotel location is in the very centre 100 meters from Carthage land and new medina with good restaurants and cafes and at the back of the hotel sits a large promenade with a marina and other restaurants.
We had a great time and our next trip to Tunisia will again be Vincci lella Baya.

I booked this holiday at the last minute and was slightly unsure of the hotel, however the hotel did live up to its photos on the web and we enjoyed the holiday.
The rooms were very clean, the food was good, however you must remind yourself that you are in Tunisia and whatever country you are visiting you must respect their tastes, isn't that what holidays are all about!
The staff in the restaurants and bars were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to please you. Although at times the reception staff could be slightly difficult with the language and usually it was the females that had a difficulty understanding English, but hey like I said when you go on holiday you are no longer in your own territory and you have to be patient. Most of us British people speak one language, whereas in Tunisia many speak 3 or 4 languages relatively fluently and yet we expect automatically to be understood or we complain! give them a break!!!
To be honest if you are friendly and polite to any nationality while on holiday usually I find they are the same back, its what you give out, usually comes back - this seems to work for us. The hotel and pool was beautiful and the outside of the hotel is absolutely stunning. I could not fault this hotel at all. I loved the hotel and the holiday and I would love to go again hopefully sometime next year. I would rate the hotel 9 out of 10 and the staff a definite 10 out of 10 - they were lovely!!!

The Lalla Baya is a beautiful hotel, my husband and myself are retired Brits living in Malta and we use Tunisia for breaks. It only takes 40 mins from Malta to Tunis Airport and usually Travel with Air Malta who transfer us, which takes approximately 90 mins depending on traffic conditions and time of day, to reach this hotel.
We have used this hotel twice, once in Nov 2004 and then Feb 2005, both classified as out of the holiday season.
The rooms were just fine, nice pine, tiled floors and wood linked rugs. Very cozy and the central heating was gorgeous. There is a fridge in the room and a free safe. Bathroom was good and well supplied with soaps, shampoos etc.
The food is just fine, we are in North Africa and you have to get this into perspective when judging. The usual fresh cooked, omelettes, pancakes, Tunisian bread etc.....
The staff were really good as far as we are concerned, our policy is "you get back as good as you give" and this has always worked for us.
Reception staff are a little indifferent but this hotel is normally occupied by French or Arabic speaking people, English is one of the languages spoken by them, but, it is limited with some of the staff and both sides of the counter can become a little frustrated............ but in saying this......... they do their best to please.
We had not reps to fall back on and found our way round quite well on public transport and also taxi’s. You can go to Hammamet for 5TD by taxi and you can get to Nabuel by bus along the road outside the front entrance for peanuts. Next time we go we are going to take the train to Tunis, this is very reasonable and the trains are very regular.
The only downside of the hotel itself were the public areas, although beautiful and fascinating with lots to look at, they were cold, very open, the dining room was cold in February, so much so we had to make sure we wore warm clothes or the meal would have been spoilt.
Entertainment, rough, but a giggle all the same. We understand that the summer months are a lot better entertainment wise, the hotel was quite empty while we were there, but I guess would be buzzing in the summer, but perhaps not with English holiday makers. We met two couples the last time we were there and a family but all had made their own way with Lastminute.com and another online company.
