I have just spent 10 days at one of these apartments. We were very lucky with the position of our accommodation -overlooking the sea - but very few did! The area is remote and quiet and very beautiful - therefore necessitating the need for a car - because the local bus only runs once an hour, but taxis are reliable and cheap. The so called beach opposite the apartments did not exist - disappointing.

The apartments are very basic and the pool area small and can get very noisy. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant below the apartments was expensive and quite limited and there was very little choice of eating places around which requires a journey to surrounding bigger towns- Alcudia Port being the nearest where plenty are on offer. Overall, an enjoyable holiday, away from the crowds, but not particularly suitable for families with young children or young people looking for some nightlife.

Went for 2 week holiday beginning of July ...paid a basic price for family of 5 and stayed in 2 bedroomed apartment in Aucanada. Apartments are around a 25 minute walk into Alcudia Harbour ( 40 mins with a little person!), but nice to have the choice to be in the heart of things or have the peace and quiet that you most certainly get in Aucanada!!

Apartments are basic , but very clean with fresh towels every 2 days and bedding changed every 4 days. Could also get a sun lounger any time as the pool was never too busy. No problems with hot water for showers either, and the air conditioning units in both rooms as well as the sitting room was great (included in the room price).

The drawbacks are that there is only 1 bus per hour , which stops running at around 7.15pm, and taxi's will not always take families of 5 - on reflection we probably spent the same amount of money on travelling by taxi/bus as we would have hiring a car- but that is personal choice.

Aucanada is very quiet ...no nightlife whatsoever, so not good for a lively holiday. Had a couple of dealings with the manager, who was very nice and also went change money a lot at the Hotel Presidente as they had internet connection , and they were also extremely nice. All in all a good budget family holidy , which I would return to.

We have just returned from a 10 stay in these apartments and it was wonderful. We did research these apartments where you will find the 2 bedroom apartments are around the pool and the 1 bedroom are across the road with varying views. We opted to pay the extra and book the 2 bedroom. They are really spacious and can easily sleep 6-8. Towels were changed every 2 days and sheets once a week. Cooking facilities are a bit basic with only a 2 ring hob - no oven or microwave but it wasn't a problem for us as we ate out every night. We hired a car for the 10 days and this is the best way as the apartments are out of the main town of Port d'Alcudia were all the restaurants and shops are. The 2 bedroom apartments have air con which worked fine and was not at all noisy. All in all a great place to stay if you are on a budget especially in the school holidays. There is a small beach near the apartments but it seems to be stone not the lovely sand of Alcudia - a lot of locals were using it though so it can't be that bad. We did see the pool being regularly cleaned from our balcony. We would definately go back again

Perfectly accepatable accomodation. One bedroom appartment in old block very clean, pool nice and clean. Don't really know what else you could expect from some cheap and cheerful self catering. Far superior to most on offer in Greece. Nice bar on the beach, couple of restaurants nearby that serve acceptable Spanish food and only 2 kM into Port Alcudia where there are a number of good eateries as long as you stay away from the marina area, as they seem to load the prices, and forget about the quality of the food. Do you really need a 24 hour eceptionist or a holiday like this??

Not improved much since may 2008 then! Still no-one on reception, also had to ring to end up meeting a moody receptionist (local shop keeper said she's known for disappearing off to bars). Even when we checked out - still no one in sight, so just left the key.

Side sea view also consisted of connifers, i won't deny it could be seen between them, though looking down at the back of Spar, wasn't mentioned.

The bus service is the most shocking i've experienced, going into Alcudia fine, waiting three hours for it to never return was not so good.

Not even called stil aucanada apartamentos any more, more like apartamentos alcanada, and don't be decieved by the lovely picture of the apartments round the pool because you'll probably be in the apartments across the road. Albeit very clean.

So much more to complain about...

I have to say that when I went to these apts I had a wonderful holiday. Yes they are basic but they were very clean. The reception staff just let us get on with our holiday. The only reason I haven't given it 10 was because when we arrived there was nobody at reception and we had to use a mobile to phone them. This really was the only bad thing about the whole stay. The swimming pool, was very cold but it was clean. Perhaps it would be different if there had been more people staying. The restaurent attached to the apts was decent enough however the Restaurent across the road which was described in the review from 2006 was amazing. There was also a small bar attached to the hotel about two minutes walk away which was right on the sea. For lunch and or a cooling drink or even a night cap it was wonderful. The barman was very pleasent with out being pushy. Alcudia port is lively enough to keep most people entertained and there is a huge choice of restaurants and bars to choose from. We went in September and even then everywhere was still open. The small spar is situated underneath the apts and has everything you could possibly need for breakfast or a light lunch. It isn't overly pricey and there is a large spar in the port which has everything. Taxis are very cheap and plentiful and the bus runs every half an hour from just outside. We are just about to go back to the same place and I hope that the previous review was just one of those things and not because the place has declined so much in under a year.

The resort of Aucanada is a very quiet, tranquil and beautiful area - certainly not for those looking for a lively holiday. The resort is extremely peaceful and great for a relaxing holiday and has lovely views across the bay of Alcudia.

We were very impressed with the complex itself; it had everything we needed and was very clean and modern and had quite a luxurious feel to it. The staff were very professional and helpful, including receptionists, bar staff and cleaners.

We have been to Mallorca several times before and we would certainly say that the north area is the best. This was the first time we'd been to Aucanada and we would definitely return. Other areas that are nice are Puerto Pollensa and some parts of Alcudia (the old town and the port).

This time when we were here we discovered a new way of seeing the island (as taxis can be expensive and we don't like hiring a car). The reception of this hotel was selling excursions organised by a local company called No Frills Excursions - I know the name doesn't sound local but they assured me that they were, even though all the guides we met spoke excellent English. We went on several excursions with this company and found the standard of service very high and the excursions very enjoyable. All the trips we went on were sightseeing tours to Valldemossa, Soller and the east area too. The guides were very knowledgeable and interesting. For those who prefer more family orientated things, they do visits to water parks and family shows and things like this too. The prices were very reasonable.

A very nice restaurant to try for anyone going to Aucanada for their holidays is Momo's. They do very interesting, trendy food and the restaurant is very stylish and modern.

Another great place to eat is La Terraza. This is right on overlooking the sea in a wonderful location and the food was great there too. This place is a bit more for special occasions though.

The best place to buy gifts and souvenirs or to buy anything really is Palma. Don't bother with the tacky overpriced shops in the resorts; go to Palma where they have some fabulous shops and you can enjoy the culture and history of the capital of Mallorca. When we went to Palma, we actually booked a trip with the hotel reception and it worked out cheaper than the public bus and we got plenty of free time for shopping too.
