moderate hotel
Marko Polo Hotel was clean and the air conditioning worked very well. From the research we did online this hotel seemed to be the best option in Korcula. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our 10 night stay throughout Croatia and the accomodations are only ok. The front desk wasn't very helpful and every other hotel we stayed at the service was unbelievable. There is no beach at the Marko Polo, we had to go the hotel next door. You have to pay a deposit at the front desk for beach towels which i thought was odd since... more
Avoid
Booked a superior seaview room. When we arrived, we were given a standard room with a view of the building next door. You could kind of see a sliver of sea if you leaned out and craned your neck. Rather than admitting their mistake, hotel staff, including the manager, claimed that it was a superior seaview room. After we argued with them 3 different times, they finally conceded that we did not receive the room we paid for, and refunded us the difference in price. I hear the actual seaviews are great. I would have liked to find out for... more
staff not very welcoming
Hotel staff not very helpful,slow service,good location,nice pool,large rooms , nice town.Decor pretty plain.
SAGA Central
Initial impression of the hotel was that it was pretty swanky but this sheen soon wore off when we entered our Double Sea View room. We were immediately overcome by the smell from bad drainage which had been unsuccessfully masked by an extremely noxious amount of air freshener. In an attempt to bring in fresh air we opened our window to find not so much of a sea view as we were led to believe...one would need to strain one's neck considerably to get any glimpse of the sea from that room. The room itself was generally clean which was a... more
So laid back we were nearly horizontal.
Returned yesterday 11 may 2008. What a beautiful island !Scenery stunning. Stayed at the 4* Marco Polo, no complaints, although the hotel was very quiet as it was the start of the season, so I would advise you to go later in may or late august/ early september for a little more "life" on the island and avoid the crowded summer season. I must admit everywhere wasn't quite "open" during our one week stay. The hotel staff were lovely and really helpful. Nice outdoor and kiddie pool, whirlpool not in action but they were working on it! Lovely... more
Warm and friendly Marko Polo
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Marko Polo on Korcula. The early April weather was variable but the hotel's a/c and central heating system ensured we steady 24degrees C temp. We arrived at 4am having been badly delayed because the plane couldn't continue from Split to Dubrovnik (high winds). When we eventually arrived at the hotel the night receptionist and porter were welcoming and helpful. As we were on half board a cold meal was waiting for us. The standards of this hotel, on a relatively obscure island, were as good as any in... more
nice hotel great service
Excellent hotel, friendly helpful staff, clean rooms and public areas. Food fine, evening meals ok but not inspiring but always lots of fresh fruit. At this time of year there was little option but to eat in the hotel, most restaurants closed for season. Indoor pool large and clean best one we've ever used, outdoor pool was closed, but would be nice earlier in the year. We would certainly recommend this hotel to all. For a day out try the monastry across the water about half an hours walk from Orebic and visit the Panorama... more
Modern and clean
We stayed at the Hotel Marko Polo for a few nights. It's about a 10minute walk downhill to the city. It looks like it's been recently refurbished, with rooms looking like at standard 3 star hotel. The room is a little small and the bathroom is also a tad small. But all the items in the rooms are new and very clean. They have cable TV with english-speaking channels and the airconditioning is very effective. The buffet breakfast is pretty standard and we ended up getting dinner included in our price. The dinners are pretty bad. There are... more
stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks
in september, quiet end of season. a great spot literally minutes from the town centre. room was spotless, cleaned daily, fresh linen every day. stayed half board, breakfast buffet style 7- 10 was very good. only minus was the evening meal which we had first evening on arrival, poor quality. staff were very courteous and helpful, poolarea very clean but dont jump in-it's too shallow!!! would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting the dalmatia area.
Ideal Hotel in Korcula
The Marco Polo hotel scored highly for us on many different levels. it has been recently renovated to a very high standard. It is comfortable, great facilities, wide choice of food for breakfast and an excellent location. we spent a very relaxing week here and would have no hesitation in recommending it.
