" Ours was a 14 day stay booked through... "

Ours was a 14 day stay booked through Lastminute.com and perhaps because this was a cheap deal we got what we paid for?

A three star hotel......Mmmm. Rooms basic and clean but ours required maintenance. Requests for a bulb for my reading light and to have the shower attachment fixed so that we did not have to hold it up were ignored despite being treated sympathetically by the Reception staff. After three days I fixed the light myself and purchased some insulation tape at a local hardware shop to tape the shower hose to the bracket. Towels and bed linen were changed daily. The Reception staff & cleaners were very polite & helpful. Dining room staff quite miserable (not a smile for 14 days!).

Continental breakfasts (buffet style) we can handle and even enjoy, but at Hotel Zupa they did not vary at all! The same 3 cereals with watery milk and the same natural yoghurt were offered for all of our 14 days. Smoked ham (very tasty), frankfurter type sausages, cheese, boiled eggs and slices of bread and butter were daily standards. Occasionally toast was offered sparingly (about 20 slices on a plate for the whole dining room) and if we were not there at the time, bad luck. Fruit juices appeared to be watered down.

Not sure I would stay in the hotel again, but there again it was a cheap Lastminute.com deal!

The beach is a 5 minute walk past houses that were destroyed during the war which brings home the viciousness of the conflict. The scenery is fantastic and the weather at this time of the year was marvellous (sunny 25-28C during the day & cool evenings). It rained on 2 days. Transport whether by bus, boat or taxi was good & reliable. We felt very safe the whole time (we walked a lot at night to local restaurants & cafe bars) where the food was good. We would thoroughly recommend a holiday in this part of Croatia.

" This is a basic three star hotel... "

This is a basic three star hotel which could do with a little refurbishment, but we knew that from reading the reviews on this site. Given this the hotel far exceeded our expectations, the area is stunning and so tranquil, and the staff at the hotel were very friendly and extremely helpful.

There are still signs of the war that took place in the 90s, but this simply puts the holiday into context and allows you to appreciate what this country and it's people have had to go through and this certainly does not have a negative effect.

The selection of food is no as great as in some hotels we have stayed at but there was enough variety for everyone to find something they liked and was of a standard that they would enjoy.

My wife and I will definitely return. Those with limited mobility should however be aware that the path to the beach is quite steep.

" From the moment we arrived at hotel... "

From the moment we arrived at hotel Zupa we had a lovely holiday! The hotel was basic but very clean with room cleaned daily with clean sheets, towels etc. mini fridge was fully stocked with drinks and air conditioning working perfectly throughout our stay which was good as weather was very hot during our week there. The staff were very, very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them.

We had a sea view as asked for which was nice. The whole area was beautiful. Less then 5 minutes walk from srebreno beach and small village but 15 mins walk along beach to Mlini which is slightly bigger. A short bus ride, but I recommend boat trip to a lovely resort called Cavtat and definitely recommend boat trip to Dubrovnik which was breathtaking!

The only reason why not given 10/10 was breakfasts weren’t quite to our taste as perhaps just a little too continental. Very enjoyable holiday.

" We had a lovely time at the hotel... "

We had a lovely time at the hotel Zupa. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a fridge and minibar. The food was ok(ish) and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The view from our balcony was facing the sea, but you could also see a bombed out hotel nearby.

The beach is very close (5 min walk) and we felt safe throughout our stay. You can catch a bus or boat (which I can recommend) to Cavtat or Dubrovnik. I would definately return.
