Hotel Description:

Emelisse Art Hotel is located on the shores of a magnificent sweeping bay nearby the north outskirts of Fiskardo. The Emelisse is the latest hideaway of all three hotels. Situated on Emblissi bay, camouflaged among cedars and cypress trees, it is ready to welcome you in a breezy lobby with a glass of ice cold cucumber water. It is only 1km from the village of Fiskardo, 1 hour from Argostoli airport and a 40 minute drive from Sami Port.

" We have just returned from... "

We have just returned from celebrating our 25th at the Emelisse - we had a wonderful time the hotel is beautifully situtation in woodlands overlooking the sea and local beaches.

We would recommend if you want a quiet time at the hotel avoid the half-term and school holidays as the pool areas can be largely dominated by children playing - our second week completely changed when the children returned back to school and it was mainly adult couples staying in the hotel and the pool area became an area for reading and relaxation.

Staff are very pleasant and friendly -

Enjoy

" A girlfriend and I took a well earned... "

A girlfriend and I took a well earned break and stayed in this hotel this summer. It was luxury! We were picked up by taxi at the airport and ferried to the other side of the island along a very windy road with spectacular views. On arrival, hot and weary, we were offered iced water and cool towels with which to mop our brows...before being taken to our room. We were surprised to find a very large double bed, having ordered twin singles. They do not do twin beds. Other than that, the room was large, airy, cool and the bathroom well appointed. It was all very comfortable.

Over the week we spent most of the time around the pool. The service is faultless. The waitresses/waiters are numerous, well-dressed, polite, and accommodating. Other staff such as the gardeners, the chamber maids and drivers are all in some form of uniform. They work thoroughly, quietly and well. The whole hotel works like clockwork.

Breakfast is extensive, good and is served to 11am. Although we had paid for bed and breakfast, we did eat once or twice in the hotel. We tried both restaurants. The service and the scenery were spectacular. The food, however, was perhaps not as good as we expected. It wasn't bad but it was definitely better elsewhere.

The nearest village is Fiscardo. It was walkable, but the walk is up a steep hill, which in the sun or heat leaves you looking less than desirable at your destination! Again, the hotel excelled in the organisation of either their own drivers or taxis to the port to ferry you to and fro.

One night, having found friends from England, we were in Fiscardo and didn't finish supper until the small hours. There were no taxis to be found and we missed the hotel bus. There does not appear to be a lot of night life and the rest of Fiscardo had gone to bed. The hotel night porter came out and picked us up. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them.

All in all, it is a fabulously luxurious hotel. You could have a very romantic evening meal in the restaurant down by the pool. It would be the perfect place for a honeymoon or to woo someone. In that environment, it would be hard to resist! Equally, if you need a complete rest and have the need to be pampered and indulge, this is definitely the place for you.

I would have no difficulties in recommending it.

" Imagine living in one of those glossy... "

Imagine living in one of those glossy penthouse apartments, Imagine living in a supremely manicured village, where everything is colour-washed and styled: a true deluxe, ‘Art’ hotel, where placement is everything. It may not be everyone’s cup-of-tea, but if you are looking for a stunningly attractive, modern complex (about 40 apartments) in a lovely setting (unobstructed sunsets over the Ionian each evening over the sea) then this may suit you. It is a 5 star hotel where most of its artefacts can be bought (from the T-shirts that the staff wear to the bath products and strangely also, the wall lights and switches in the apartments) and where attention to detail is paramount.

I visited in June 2004 and was overwhelmed with the hotel and its service. ‘Yes’, its modern but it is beautiful in a minimist way. Its not traditional Greek by any means, but I cant fault its setting (in a high, pine-wooded peninsula) nor care and attention of its (equally designer) staff. Each evening the paths around the apartments are lit by individual candles and a weather report is put in your door, guests are met at the car park and ferried to the hotel by a courtesy golf car. Breakfast each morning is in the open air veranda (great for spotting dolphins). It is quiet and relaxing a real get away from it all place. Picture the typical holiday idle: just sitting by the pool, gazing at a wide expanse of cobalt blue sea being brought an exotic cocktail by waitress in crisp white linen drifting in and out to soft piped jazz/funk music and you have the Emelisse/Kelalonia.

Its about five minutes from Fiscardo (by car), so eating out in the evenings by the animated traditional harbour with its bars and restaurants is easy. Food in the hotel is under the stars and also from designer cuisine school. The only slight drawback is getting to Fiscardo. I understand that there are 360 (mostly hairpin) bends on the road from the Airport (south of the Island) to the hotel (north of the Island). The road is spectacular and the views are breathtaking, however if you don’t like driving along 1000ft precipices you may need a blind fold in certain areas of the route! There’s not getting away from it, the drive to and from the hotel is tiring and the hairpin bends do take their toll especially after a week. You will need a good map because most the roads and towns aren’t on the tourist maps.

Its beautiful and spectacular and unlike any other place.
