Steer Well Clear
Quite honestly this was the worst hotel I've ever had the painful displeasure of staying in. From day one we had problems. The rooms are a joke, and thats being kind. They're just ridiculously small. I spent half an hour trying to open the bedroom door, only to find out that it was an adjourning door to the next apartment. Its very basic. You basically have a tiny bathroom and two sofa's that somehow turn in single beds. The towels and bedding are supposed to be changed everyday except Thursdays. That doesnt happen. They actually come in and just re-fold all your current towels and re-make your bed. I found this out when trying to wipe my face on a towel that I'd left for dirty the night before, it still my toothpaste stain on it. So all in all the maid service was a complete waste of time. Looks wise the hotel is lovely and its in an ideal location, just a thirty second walk from the beach, but thats where the good news finishes. The reception staff were embarrassing, and at one point the fella in the glasses actually told me "F*** you". I kid you not, and in front of fair few people. The entertainment was pointless. One night we were treated to an ultra-violet display of towel dancing. What I mean by that is that the entertainment staff wore all black suits, turned on the purple ultra-violet, then spent an hour and a half dancing around the stage waving beach towels. Literally. It got to the point where it was so bad it was funny. Would I go to Alcudia again? Yes, definitly. It was a fantastic place, and the beach is probably one of the best I've encountered anywhere in the world, but stay away from this hotel.
Would not go again
The Good: Location Clean The Bad Small rooms Having to get up at 7am to get a sun lounger - any later and you would not get one Loud music in the evening so it was hard for the little one to go asleep Not that impressed and would not go back
Good aparthotel
Overall a good place to stay. Rooms cleaned daily (except Thursdays), pools were excellant (though had to get down before 9.00 for a sunbed). The best thing was the very short walk out of the back of the hotel to the great beach (perfect for kids as very shallow). Entertainment was fine with the team miming to muscials at night and events (e.g. water polo, archery, volley ball) during the day to keep adults and teenagers occupied. The kids club operated twice a day for a couple of hours and included pony riding once a week. Food at the hotel was ordinary but there are good restaurants outside the hotel (Nuevo Rancho -good paella, Pekin Duck is a good chinese, though portions are small). The best places we found was at the port and old town when you can get very good tapas (be warned portions are bigger than UK and we found 3-4 tapas was fine for the two of us and our 6 year old son). Also beware that buses stop running from the port from about 10.15 and taxi queues can get very busy. It is about a 50-60 minute walk back with a child! Overall a good relaxing holiday - if you want a more lively time then the belleview area is better.
Execelent apart hotel
The apartments were to an excelent standard, very clean and tidy. The pool was excelent and the beach was just a simple walk down a path. this aparthotel as it is very good and we enjoyed our stay.
Great hotel
This was a great hotel. The rooms were small but we had 2 ajoining studios 2 of everything great. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Hotel prices for drinks were very reasonalbe compared to some places out with the hotel. there is no need to get up early for sunbed we went down at 10am and still got 3 beside the baby pool. Beach is lovely but look out for the jellyfish. Cheers is a great place for the kids they superman and tweenies etc and the food is cheap and very good. Food in the swan not that tasty would give this a miss. The Chinese buffets are great value for money. If you go to this hotel you will have a great time.
very nice
well i had alot of trouble with hotel as they travel agent had to put me into a differnt hotel, but i was moved to eden alcudia and i loved it, was better than i one i originaly booked! like people had sed about the rooms being a bit dingy that is true, as dark green can look dull, but this didnt bother me as im not really a fussy type! the room was very clean best iv seen in a long time! i was very happy to see that the beach was like a 1mintues walk away and the pool and sunbathin area was lovely! the hotel staff were excellant and open 24hours, thier english was soo good and all the trips wiv bookd with them were amazing. cleaning staff were very good, with clean towels eveyday, mopped the floor etc! even tho she keepd forgetting to give us a tea towel this didnt bother me to much. entertainment was very good with a choice of watchin parrots, cats show, grease show, and i liked the way it was set out. lots of nice restuarants to eat out in! me and my bf didnt like the black guys sellin glasses and watch really put us off and got us annoyed! to get the best of your night it was a fare bit of walkin up to the bellvue area which i have stayed there before and wud totally recomend this place to stay! overal i had a really great holiday and wud rather be there than cold england any day!!
MOST AWFUL HOTEL EVER!
As another review stated we were put in what can only be described as a dingy scabby cupboard. We were put in a room with an ajoining door which was not advertised in the brouchure and apartently our reps didnt even know. We it felt like the people through the door were in our room with us it was so bad! The room we were in was dull and shaby... along the lines of a hostel. we reported to our rep and we had to be moved to The Hotel Alcudia. No aplogies from staff infact they were the rudest people. I wish i had read other reviews cause this is the worst hotel i have ever been in ever! Take my advice.
Dingy
If you believe the reviews on this place you could be strongly disappointed as we were. We did not stay long enough to 'meet' the staff or enjoy the facilities but transferred immediately after seeing our apartment. If your vision of self-catering abroad are tiled surfaces and a bit of extra space with the kids in tow then you may not want to consider this. The place and corridoors have a nasty green carpet, the rooms are average for a hotel, shocking for an apartment and there is very little natural light making most of the apartment really dingy. You do get windows in the bedroom but, hey, when you draw the curtains you look back into the dingy corridoor you walk along to reach the rooms - nice touch. As I explained to our rep, it's the kind of place I would expect to find if I travelled to the Eastern Block. I'm sure evgeryone there is lovely, but personally I couldn't bear it.
Great Hotel
What a great hotel this is! As soon as you approach the entrance the hotel looks impressive and it continues as you enter. The reception staff and all of the staff in general are very polite and helpful. The studio rooms are small but fine for 2 adults and a child although if the child is a teenager or there are 4 people then an apartment would be best. The rooms are nice with a safe (12 euros hire), small kitchen, fridge, balcony and TV (18 euros hire). Rooms are cleaned daily. There is an extensive activity programme and the kids will love the mini club and evening entertainment. Swimming pool complex is impressive and clean and has separate children's pool. Big grassy area also and a sandy volleyball pitch. There is direct access to a fantastic beach and the location of the hotel is superb. Shops, supermarkets, amusements, restaurants and bars are all right on your doorstep. Highly recommend this hotel and will be going again.
didnt want to leave!
i really really enjoyed my stay at eden alcudia i loved every minute i was there! it was very clean and looks lovely from the outside and also in the inside! the pools were gorgeous and got cleaned everynight, you wernt allowed in them after 8. all the staff where really freindly! the receptionists, maids, entertainers, waiters, bar staff all of them! our apartment wich we stayed in was quite big but just basic! a maid come in everyday and gave you new towels and cleaned up made your beds etc. I didnt go in the hotel resteraunt so i do not know what the food was like but we ate at the snack bar a few times and the food was lovely there. if you wanted a sunbed you do have to get up early but its like that everywere!! the entertainment on a night was good and i enjoyed watching it. there was always something to do through the day like water polo, vollyball etc. there was also a mini disco on for the little kids! the only thing we had to do is wait for a kettle because you have to hire 1 if you want one and they havent allways got 1 free! around the hotel there is so many places to eat its hard to choose where to go! theres lots of shops of different kinds, clothes, shoes, supermarkets etc. you wil never be bored beacuse theres so many things to do and places to go either in the hotel or outside! i really enjoyed it and i wished i was there longer than 2 week! i would love to go back again anyday! when i showed people my photos when i got back home they all said how lovly the hotel was and that it should be more than 3 star!
