Hotel Nixe Palace

We stayed for 3 nights at the Nixe Palace for a special birthday celebration.It couldn't have been more special.The seaview was a wonderful tonic in December.The beachfront restaurant was closed but the elegant main restaurant was perfect for a really special dinner.Contrary to some other reviews, we found all the staff delightfully polite,helpful and very professional.The resort is no match for the quality of the hotel,but a taxi ride will take you to Palma and all the restaurants & shopping you could wish for.Palma is particularly lovely at this time of year.A true 5* hotel and a great spot for a winter city by the sea break.

We stayed in the Nixe Palace for four nights at the end of October. The weather was beautiful and it was quiet both in the hotel and in the surrounding areas. Palma, which is a short taxi ride away was also fairly quiet. Our room was large and we had a small balcony with a terrific view. The terrace where we ate also overlooked the bay and it was absolutley lovely to sit there in the warm evenings with beautiful sunsets. We hired a car which cost us quite a bit to park overnight - be warned. The food was good in the evening but mediocre at lunchtime. The staff were generally helpful and polite - a few more smiles wouldn't come amiss. The rooms were very clean but could be a little more modern and less tired looking. The pool was tiny but the beach great. Not really a hotel for kids although my two children (who hadn't come with us) would have loved the beach. Overall, a lovely break - Majorca is such a beautiful island. Best features - beautiful island, bay, view, sea, beach, large room, lovely terrace and very clean.

First the good points: the beach is small but a gem, the sea is crystal clear and our balcony was absolutely amazing - well worth the supplement for a superior room. However, the staff is incredibly rude with an attitude to match. And do watch out for items disappearing from your room... when I went to enquire at reception about my missing clothes, I was actually informed, that 'this happens all the time'! And no, they neither retrieved them nor reimbursed me, so it turned out to be an expensive stay. Never again!

Just returned from 3 excellent days at the Nixe. We had a lovely room with a large balcony (superior) wonderful views and a really relaxing atmosphere. Staff were attentive without being fussy, breakfasts set you up for the day, and the terrace/bar meals were superb. The hotel was absolutely immaculate, only 3/5 minutes from the centre of Palma with taxi fares only about 6 euro. Who needs a large swimming pool when you can swim in the sea at the bottom of your terrace? The hotel also gives you towels to take down to the beach, what more could you want? OK the immediate area around hotel needs smartening up a bit (which they look as though they are trying to do) but within 5 minutes walking distance you come into some really nice areas. You could easily stay in the hotel all the time and not go out if you wanted the atmosphere and facilities are so good. We are definitely going back. We booked direct with the hotel, which if you want a certain room is perhaps the best thing to do. We are experienced travellers and certainly rate this hotel.

My wife and me stayed at this hotel in May 2005 for 3 nights. I dont understand why this hotel doesnt have a better rating. Everything was excellent: -The staff was very polite, helpfull and spoke fluent English and a lot also spoke German - The restaurant which serves breakfast (which was also very good) has the best ocean view Also, this is the only 5-star hotel on Majorca which has its own beatiful beach and isnt crowded as other hotels (all other beach hotels are owned by Thompson Holidays, TUI etc.. So expect alot of people there). So if your looking for a luxurios hotel with a non crowded beach this is the one for.

We stayed at the Nixe Palace for 3 nights with another couple (separate rooms!!) to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday and had a suberb time. The staff were very friendly and helpful (apart from one miserable waiter), the rooms were exceptionally clean and well equipped. As we were only staying for 3 nights we booked rear rooms ie no sea view - our room (625) looked out over the road (worried about traffic noise but didn't bother us at all) but we had a balcony that was nearly double the size of the room - our friends didn't have a balcony, but to be honest we spent that little time in the room it didn't matter. If going for longer would certainly recommend booking a sea view room. Yes, the pool is small but hey, when you are so close to the sea who needs a pool? The hotel situation is ideal for beach lovers and the sea was crystal clear - it wasn't even that busy for August. This is NOT a Brits Abroad Hotel - a real mix a different nationalities. Cala Mayor is naf but only 5-10 mins taxi ride into Palma or Porta Portals. I have stayed in many 5* hotel around the world & personally thought this to be pretty good. Would definately go back again with the kids for a week break - no longer as not enough to keep them occupied. Good food too.

Whatever you do, DO NOT EXPECT A 5* HOTEL !! The Nixe Palace is defineately over rated by the people who award the stars, in our opinion it deserved 4* ( at a push ). The rooms are very "tired" and rather small. I would hate to have to stay in one on the front of the building, which are apparantly even smaller, have no balcony and overlook a very scruffy main road. The pool is extremely small ( more like a children's pool ). The breakfast is ok and served in a nice setting overlooking the sea. The main redeeming feature of the hotel is the location with regard to it being on the beach, HOWEVER, only go there if you are prepared to travel into Palma or Portal Portalis for a decent meal or a drink, the bars and restaurants of Cala Mayor are TERRIBLE, ok if you want a kebab, but don't expect anything more. It looks like a town which has been thrown back from the 80's when it was probably a bustling area, now most of the places are shut down and boarded up. On the whole we had a nice holiday, but that was down to us, certainly not the Nixe palace or their staff !!

Good location, great beach (but pay extra for a sunbed) and wonderful breakfasts. But way short of a 5 star hotel. Some of the staff are friendly, some just aren't. Room was disappointing, very small with no balcony at all. (We knew sea view rooms might not be available though we had requested one well in advance.) Only two of the "standard" (ie for people who book on the internet) rooms have balconies! There's no hotel shop, no pool terrace drinks service and the swimming pool is so small we thought it was an ornamental fountain at first. There is a larger indoor pool, but if you wanted to swim in an indoor pool, you'd stay home and go to the local leisure centre perhaps. We had a great holiday, but the hotel was just nothing special, there are far better ones.

Just back from Nixe palace, had a fantastic, luxurious time. Booked with expedia and upgraded to sea view , well worth it. The room was very clean and comfortable, could not fault the hotel and facillities. The swimming pools were spotless and situated well, staff friendly and courtiess. Sophisticated Palma is either a short bus ride away or taxi ride is even better only £5.00. Don't miss breakfast on the terrace it is fabulous. Cala Mayor at first sight was a bit scruffy but nice and quiet, the restraunts/cafe supplied good food. Doesn't realy matter about cala Mayor because Hotel is good enough to stay there most of the time. Beach is great fun, if you like jumping the waves this is your beach, some people actually surfed. There is always someone in the water even late in the evening. I was worried about the comment from someone saying it was hotel from hell, belive me they are talking Rubbish, they must have been holiday makers from hell !

Have just come back from a 3 night break at the Nixe palace, The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. It was immaculate and clean at all times. The food was great, especially the fantastic choice at breakfast. It was my best friends 30th while we were there and we came back from the pool to find Champagne and fresh fruit had been put in the room! The only complaint was the guests placing towels on the sunbeds in the morning and not occupying them till lunchtime-most aggravating , but we all know who is responsible for that behaviour worldwide!! Lastly if you can request room 602, the view from the balcony is fab!!!!! Enjoy.
