" great holiday "
Submitted By: LYNSEY328We absolutley loved it and plan to go back in the near future the food was lovely and plenty of choice the dessert trolley was out of this world everything was cooked properly and we had no problems at all there was something for everyone.
The staff in the hotel were the most pleasant people you could ever meet the waiters especially Zak could not do enough for us anything we wanted we got and he was a great guy so much so we even have his mobile number and address so we can keep in touch.
The only thing that spoils this hotel is the limited entertainment, even though the guys and girls are all fab they seem to have very limited resources on what us Brits like as entertainment it was all good fun but just not enough, the shows were a bit dissapointing as you had to keep walking over the road to The Strada to watch the team do some dancing or singing which although good got a bit boring after about 10 mins. They did do a Miss Oriental competition each week which was quite amusing (and embarrassing)as i found out when i was volunteered by my husband but won so it was worth it i suppose. If you have children the staff are great with them always talking to them and playing games etc loads of stuff to do in the day but again a bit naff for the older kids at night as they only had a mini disco which finished at 9pm and if your kids are over 7 i dont think they would be amused. If you are a younger couple they take a bus load of you to Hard Rock or one of the other major night clubs where you can stay out till 5am every night but for the families there is not that much to do at night unless you go out of the hotel and into one of the towns nearby. If you have never been before defo give it a try the food is cheap if you dont like all inc the local supermarkets are great for example a can of coke is 18p and a large bag of crisps is about 20p taxis are a bargain and the local merchanise like paintings jewellry and spices are really good value. The beaches are great you can literally walk out for miles and still be ankle deep and the fish are amazing try diving or snorkelling if like me you not a lover of the sea,you can also quad bike and do all the water sports etc we recommend the sand buggies in the desert fantasic fun but dusty so dont wear your best clothes and take your sun glasses. The Pyramids and Sphinx are a must but if travelling by coach be warned its a long hot day but well worth it.
The only other hints and tips we can give is take American Dollars as you do get asked to pay for things using the dollar and you get more for your money if you do cause they get a good exchange rate over there but if you pay in Egyptian pound it will cost you more.
Advice: Plenty of shops and restaurants you will never get bored of where to eat
Activities: Pyramids - Sphinxs - Mask of Tut The River Nile

" Great 2 Week Holiday in Sharm "
Submitted By: HW RobbydoooThe hotel itself is probably more like a 4 star hotel than a 5 star. The rooms were a good size with 2 double beds in. The bath room is a little smaller than I expected but still a good size.
I will start with the positives of the hotel and holiday first. Firstly the Staff at the hotel are excellent, very friendly and if you are going as a family they really look after the kids. The Animation team work from 10am till 4am every day and work hard to make sure events are on throughout the day and night. Entertainment is a little scarce in the evenings around the hotel apart from the weekly Beach party which is worth going to.
The rooms are very clean and the cleaners work hard to keep it that way although be warned they do like to come round early (around 9 am) and they are quite persistent at coming back so put the do not disturb sign up on your door and they wont bother you. Strangely though our sign disappeared in the second week :-).
The private beach of the hotel is in good condition, the sea stays shallow for about a half mile out so you can walk all the way out. The amount of fish and sea life is incredible. If you walk to the end of the pier and snorkel off to the left you will a huge bit of coral. The fish around here are amazing so be sure to have a good snorkeling session. Make sure you were a t shirt though. I had sun block on and still got burnt.
There are 2 swimming pools. The main pool is the largest and this is where you will find water aerobics in the mornings and during the day this is the busiest pool. The smaller pool further down by the beach is a lot quieter so couples may want to get away from the kids here.
Don't feel afraid to leave the hotel complex, there is plenty to see around the hotel and its perfectly safe. Out the front of the hotel you will see there are many western names popping up such as Burger King, Star Bucks, TGI Fridays, Levis, La Senza, KFC, McDonalds. There is also a market called La Strada. Be warned they will bug the hell out of you so be polite and tell them to go away :-). I lost count on the number of times they all used the same cheesy lines.
A little tip Bk and Mcdonalds have wireless for free so if you want to catch up on emails etc go there, otherwise you will pay 35 l.e for an hour in the hotel (about £4). Also make sure you tip the staff on the first day as they seem to treat you really well for the rest of your stay.
Now for the negatives...
No matter how hard you will try you are likely to get a dodgy tummy when you are over there. Its the topic of conversation where ever you go. Take this bit of advice and you will be fine in no time and you can enjoy the rest of your holiday. As soon as you start to feel ill, head out the hotel and turn right along the row of shops and at the end there is a pharmacy. Tell them you have a dodgy stomach and they will give you some tablets to take. one yellow and one green pill to be taken 3 times a day. They will also give you a sachet that should help get you feeling better a lot quicker. As soon as I had the sachet and a days worth of the tablets I was feeling back to normal.
It is also true that the men do pay a lot of attention to the woman. Its quite amusing the first couple of times being offered hundreds and thousands of camels for your girlfriend but after 2 weeks of it you really do get irritated by it. There is no real cause for concern generally just be careful if you are traveling alone or as a group of girls.
The food at the hotel is pretty good although you do get very bored of it after a week. The good news is that there are some good restaurants around. As you walk to the beach from the hotel turn right and there is a lovely Italian called Dua Dua. Also out of front of the hotel along the La Strada there is a really nice Chinese called Peking. Its one of the best Chinese Restaurants I have had outside the U.K and prices for both places were about 300 l.e (about £30) including a big tip for 2 people.
If you fancy doing any excursions I highly recommend the Star Gazing Trip and the snorkeling trip to Tehran Island. The star gazing takes you out to the middle of the dessert on a camel where you see the life of Bedouin people. Dinner is supplied and you watch the sunset. You are then given a guided tour of the stars using a really cool laser pen. You can then see through 4 telescopes set up the different stars and planets. We looks at Jupiter and the moon (picture attached).
We also went to Cairo to see the pyramids which was a great experience. A word of warning though its a really long day starting at 4:30 am. The flight is only 45 minutes though and you get a trip down the river Nile and lunch in the Hard Rock included.
In conclusion if you have booked up this hotel you will have a great time and wont regret it (providing you payed a reasonable price). Its not perfect but you could do a lot lot worse. If you are a family this hotel is probably for you as they really look after the kids. If you are a couple you will enjoy yourselves but you may get a little annoyed with the children running riot. There are a lot of newer hotels along the beach front that have much better facilities such as mini water parks etc so you may want to check the prices of these if you have not already booked.
Advice: Sun sand and sea with lots to explore.
Activities: Dua Dua Italian Restaurant and Peking Chinese are both excellent.

Submitted By: gayPeople are lovely and go out of the way to make you welcome. I stayed around Nabq bay and found the shopkeepers didnt hassle you too much, but friends went to Na'ama Bay and said it was a nightmare.
Make sure you go to Ras Mohammad the snokelin and diving is fantastic just like swimming in a massive aquarium full of massive tropical fish. We saw sting rays and manta rays as well as the nemo's etc. Book your boat trips with Aqua Nabq on the beach of the hotel costs about £20.00 for the day, stops 3 times for snorkling and you get a decent lunch and all soft drinks. Well worth the money, the reps are charging about £50.00 for same trip withonly 2 stops. Look out for Mohammad Ali, great guy works for Aqua Nabq so book through him.
The only thing to spoil the holiday was the delhi belly. Got Antinol (about 50p) which worked for me but my parter needed stronger tabs. Go to chemist just past the metro supermaket (out of hotel and turn left).
Not great deal to do at nights hotel entertainment more for the kids. Micky Dees just up the road and nice chinese restuarant. Good pub just opened called 3 crowns (opposite Grand Tropicana Azure hotel) 10 min walk. Its an English pub and has karoke.
Have a great time when you to and say hi to Zac the waiter for me.

Submitted By: scorpio78ukI also booked myself in for a massage in the health centre based on the ground floor in the hotel. This looks very professional and a place where they follow strict guidelines. After arguing with them about the price which had somehow increased by 20 GBP in 2 days I secured a price. The massage consisted of 10 mins on lower legs, 30 mins around the groin area, getting as close as possible without it making it seem unappropriate. At this stage I was still expecting the back and arms to be massaged so was unable to make a fuss. When he eventually moved onto the back and arms he spent only a few minutes on each area. Only after I realsed he was getting his sick pleasure.
I am well travelled and love new cultures but Egypt and the Egyption men in the resort have left a bad taste in my mouth and it it not a place I would go to again unless I was travelling with a very intimidating looking partner. There are NO Egyption women there at all and whilst their women are covered up and locked up at home back in their hometowns the men are openly chasing and harrassing western women.
The hotel itself is very disorganised and the only thing they got right throughout the stay was the wake up calls. The room was not properly cleaned and the staff forgot to replace things in the room.
I was pleased to find that they offered internet access for 3GBP for 15 mins. At this stage I needed to excape from the resort. I spent 15 minutes trying to load up the first page.
Avoid the place unless you want to be around pathetic, sick men who spend more time harrassing guests than working.
Advice: Females do not travel alone

" Had a great time and would recommend this hotel. "
Submitted By: Annette McGuiganThere s a heated pool which was fab for the time of year we went and the gardens are really well kept. There are towels available for your sun loungers or for the beach (you get a card which you hand in and get back when you return the towels) so there is no need for you to pack your own beach towels!!
The hotel is rated 5* but i think it is more like a good 3.5* in spain, but for staff friendliness i would rate them 5*. The kids club was terrible. The girl who was there could hardly speak any English and the kids were outside in the play park area unsupervised so we were always with our child as the gate was open all the time and your children could just wander off if they felt like it and i dont think so would ever have known. i wouldnt recommend the kids club at all.
There isnt an awful lot to do outside of the hotel there are a few shops over the road and a KFC, mcdonalds, burger king, starbucks and Hard rock cafe is coming soon. Everyone wants you to come into their shop any buy from them so you do get hounded a little but they arnt aggressive. There is still alot of building work going on so it may be a bit more commercialised in the next few years.
Overall we had a great holiday and would definetely go back to the hotel.
Advice: Good friendly hotel

" Very enjoyable holiday "
Submitted By: Polly HaleNabq Bay only to the Metro supermarket which was very well stocked. Also we visted the Bombastic Bazaar where we booked a trip to St Catherines Monastery. There were lots of shops and a McDonalds and Burger King (we didn't go there!) The trip to St Catherine's Monastery was an experience. 2 1/2hr drive through the desert in a minibus being driven by Lewis Hamiltons cousin, thought were weren't going to make it at times. Was interesting though and then we went to a beach resort for lunch (Dabh or something like it!) We visited Luxor - Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Luxor Temple, Hatseput (hot chicken soup) Temple and we had a trip on the Nile in a boat called Titanic. It was a really good day out and our guide Hatem was excellent but it was very tiring up for 4:30am and back to the Hotel at 8:30pm. We also went on the Arabian Nights trip which was very expensive for what it was. All in all we had a really good holiday, we loved Egypt and the people and will definitely go back. The only downside of the Hotel was some very rude guests (not British) and not enough non-smoking area's by the bar or Reception.
Advice: Really good base to explore

Submitted By: raj.bhudia@btinternet.comThe hotel staff were good and very helpfull but the hotel is not 5 star i would say it is 2 or 3 start. I been to other 5 start hotels around the world and the food, rooms and pool are is much better..
I would say you are better of not have tour rep, as when we landed we did not get hotel transfer, this was at 11pm last people left in the airport so had no choice but to hire a taxi and the charge, wait for this £20!!!!!
At the welcome meeting we advised our tour rep who was from Med Hotels, that we did not get picked up at the hotel, was he interested i don't think so... Then we told him that our return flight timings has been changed and advised him of the new time, was he interested i don't think so. all he said is that not to worry and check the board for confirmation of our return flight and pick up time. All he was interested in is sell excursions, no surpurise!!!!
Two days before our return flight we checked the notice board and it said pick up time of 18.10, when our flight departature should have been 19.40 (as advised before we left uk) but the notice board read flight departure at 20.40. We rang the tour rep but no answer on the phone... In all we missed our return flight due to local reps fault..
We had to stay in egypt for noather 4 days for return flight and this cost us another £900...
We found that people on Egypt are only interested in GBP and ripping the toursit off, again been to manly countries around the world and this is first country, where they don'y like there own currency, only our british pound!!!!

Submitted By: sallyandmikeThe hotel was out of this world really enjoyed it and it was soooo nice, the hotel was so clean there was no dirt to be seen anywhere, the food was basic but cant complain we only paid 215pound each for a week including our flights with easy jet so it was a dirt cheap holiday.
The pools were amazing and were always cold enough to cool off which was great, the beach was fantastic and 500times better than the park inn's so was delighted with that.
We did go to namba bay on more the one occasion and ate in hard rock and tgi's as we love the place.
We did have some trouble not just us friends we met in the hotel did aswell with the Great British Pub across the road lucky enough tourism police solved this problem for us.
All in all another great trip to sharm and will be returning and will definetly be going to the Oriental as it was fantastic.
" May I start by saying that the staff... "
Submitted By: Mr N ShanahanOne word of warning though was the attitude of a representative of wings tour operators who was extremely rude and aggressive in his manner.
We arrived at the Airport at 1.30am to find a transfer had only been arranged for three of our party of ten, including three young children ( no fault of the hotel), So the remaining seven made our own way to the hotel upon arrival we were told that one room booked for two adults & two children was infact only booked for two adults which resulted in one bed for the four of us, the hotel reception were very helpful aud told us we needed to contact our rep ( Tarek ) to correct this booking. My wife contacted him by telephone to be told rudely that it was not his problem and to phone the UK to amend the error, and that we could meet him at 2;00 later that day, we waited while he spent time selling trips to other holiday makers, where of course he was charm personified, when he had finished at 3;00 I asked him if he knew why we were waiting (he did) he had upset my wife, so I asked him for his managers name (which he would not give, why?). At this point he then made a threat to me, advising that if I spoke to him "like that again" he would "send me home in a wooden box". If I had been rude I would have voiced my concerns in front of other holiday makers, but I did not as I felt that perhaps there had been a genuine misunderstanding.
My advice to anyone who has any problem to discuss with Tarek, you will be wasting your time, he is not interested in having to do anything other than take his cut of commision while selling you trips, incidentally on a pamphlet given to us by him, he has written in pen that if you do not book the trips through him you are not insured, this maybe true with some of the trips being sold, but I was suspicious that this vital information was handwritten in pen by him.
We were not able to sort out our issue, so on leaving we made our own way to the airport, which was only an £8 taxi fare away, however I shudder to think what may have happened if we had needed to transfer further afield.
As a foot note to this sorry tale, I did not come home in a wooden box and the immature ramblings of a Wings representative failed to spoil my holiday, where we enjoyed several excursions.
If you are planning a holiday to the Oriental Resort you will be provided with first class customer service from all the hotel staff, good food and nice surroundings, the staff are 5 star, the hotel 3 star plus.
