Hotel nice and staff freindly. The selection of food was poor and to be honest not a very good. The rep advised us that tummy bugs were a possibility and told us where to go for tablets, which was a little off-putting on our first morning. Her warning was correct on our 4th day my wife and i both got the runs,we ate out side the hotel the rest of the week.4star hotel but food 2star.I wont go back.

I stayed at the Oriental Resort for 2 weeks at Christmas with my husband 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. After being delayed by the snow we arrived at the hotel at 2 in the morning, were we had our bags brought to our room and was welcomed by the staff, I think what made our holiday so amazing was the staff, they was so welcoming, really couldn’t do enough to help. I’ve been to many places for Christmas and Egypt defiantly celebrated it the best and our hotel did the most amazing dinner/party for new years. The stroll down the beach was nice, were the toilets were always clean and there was always a person to clear up a problem no matter were you was.
My grandson nearly drowned in the heated pool, were a life guard saved him and made sure he was ok, we really couldn’t thank him enough and every time he saw he always asked how he was. My other grandson had a fit a 2 in the morning, and the 24hour doctor came to our room with in minuets and reviewed him every day, with no extra charge. It was nice to be able to go to any bar and get a drink, ice cream or snack trouble free and no questions asked.
The hotel was really nice but not some were I’d go for a few years until the children are grown up, and we don’t have a buggy as there are no lifts, just stairs. We were all really sad to leave, and we did some great activity’s especially quad biking in the desert, and getting to see where and how to people of Egypt lived. The only down put would be evening entertainment. Defiantly going back!

We have just returned from the Oriental Resort. We arrived on the 22nd of December for a week. Bar staff and waiters, especially Alex, Eddie Murphy, Zac and Jimmy were all excellent and treated us like royalty. The top pool was like bath water, lovely and warm and we really enjoyed it. Rooms clean, food was good. More choice would have been nice though. Only disappointment was the entertainment was poor, verging on non existent. We spoke to 1 of the staff, Julie, who always said (I dont know anything!!!), which was a shame considering she worked there.

The hotel in itself was lovely, very picturesque, and very clean and all the staff were really friendly. The food was samey everyday and very bland. The desserts were dry and tasteless. If we left the hotel we lasted about 10 mins every time due to been hassled by drivers and just random people in the street. We also had a lot of people shouting "whitey whitey", or "milky, milky" on the first few days that we just founds very offensive.
The evening entertainment was very tiresome. A kids club that lasted for anywhere from 45 mins to 2 hours in the main bar/lobby area so people without kids had no escape. The evening shows are very child based as well and similar every night.
Would recommend Egypt to anybody but would advise people to stay in Sharks Bay and not Nabq bay as there are more things to do and less hassle

The oriental resort was spacious clean and tidy through out. the food can get a bit boring but make sure you take imodine tablets before going as no matter what u try and avoid your prob get upset tummies like we did.
Try and get a top floor room or even better the new extention the 4000's as these are the better rooms. most of the staff are friendly but some are quiet pervy. be aware of the giant red ants out side by the main pool with the slide. the beach is lovely but can feel like ur walking on brokn glass so avoid flip flops. the best pool is next to the gym you can swim up to the bar and as we found its the cleanest and quietest. make sure you take your repellent sprays with 50% deet plus as u will need these to avoid being bitten by sand mites and mosiquitos.
if you leave the hotel you may get hassled abit but if u do get collared just ignore and walk straight past taxi's or just firmly say no thank u, if our too soft ur more likely to not b hassled.
we stopped and chatted to an oldish egypian guy who told us no english no business so if you go out on excursions n u dont want to be bothered dont say your english if they ask shake your head no and there leave u alone.
the coach drivers who put ur baggage on the coach on both the transfers are cheeky and ask for money but just take ur suitcases and be on your way.
overall wed definately return there.
sayed aly one of the night workers in the lobby area is very friendly and speaks the best english there.
for any one who goes to oriental, hope u have a good time.

Was at the oriental for 1 week beginning of Sept 2010. Loved the place, Room was very large and spotless, we had a terrace that overlooked one of the 3 pools at this resort. I am sure this is a new part to the hotel as we had an elderly polish couple talk to us on the terrace and come into the room and were very impressed with our room, saying "new" and "best room". All the staff were exceptional, so helpful, friendly and chatty, couldn't do enough for us. The food did get a bit monotonous towards the end of the first week but i've found this at any all inclusive hotel i've stayed at.
Would return to this hotel for sure.

Well, where do I start?
After getting into our room, we thought, 'wow, this is great'. On further inspection, we found the bathroom to be dirty and needed a proper hoover and a clean. Our shower was either extremely hot or cold, nothing in between! There was no instructions on how to use the air conditioning, so you had to flick switches and guess until it made a noise.
Going onto the hotel in general. The main bar in the lobby smelt really bad, of stale beer, due to the fact the have no drip trays and all the beer just dries on the floor. The drinks were limited, one beer, very few soft drinks and if you wanted a decent drink, you had to pay.
The food, was average. If you are happy at eating the same tasteless food day in day out, then it's fine. The food didn't taste of anything and was pretty bland.
The pools were ok, pretty large and clean to a certain extent. The 'walk' to the beach was pretty far and the paths to it were pretty shabby.
There didn't seem to be any toilets near the beach, so if you needed to go, you had to walk another 10 minutes back towards the hotel.
The staff, were, friendly enough, if you ignored them looking at all the women, mumbling random things at you and generally just being rude.
On our way back, our flight was delayed and the reception didn't have a clue. I asked them 4 times and about 10 mins after the last time I asked, a piece of paper showed up explaining to us why. So they were pretty pointless and didn't seem to know anything about the anything.
The food in the evenings got so bad, we went to Mcdonalds twice and Burger King across the road!
Also be warned that the minute you walk out of the hotel grounds, you will be pestered by the sounds of car horns and the constant phrase 'taxi' until you return back to the hotel.
This was supposed to be a dream honeymoon, but we were majorly disappointed and ruined our dream.
We wont ever be going back to Egypt

just returned in August. After reading trip adviser was very weary but pleasantly surprised. If I have to find something to pick at it would be never the right amount of towels left for the number of people staying in room, rooms require a lick of paint and entertainment is non existence which was a real shame. The remarks I read about the staff were all proven to be not true were all very happy and helpful. Food did get a bit boring but different every day and staff were very obliging.
- Advice: make the most of what you have as no one appears to put entertainment on.

we read tripadvisor, holiday watchdog, and after reading them, we did not no what to expect.26.7.10 was our day of arrival and from check in at the hotel, the porters with your bags, waiters at breakfast, lunchtime, evening meal, barstaff, the only words we can say is brilliant, they cannot do enough for you, children are looked after 1st at the bar at the beach bar by mohammed,at the restaurant by eddie murphy and mammood,at this hotel children are not a problem.dont forget, moslem country, not cancun, not spain, not tenerife.you can drink all day if you want, beach bar,2 pool bars,sorry,3 pool bars.food is good and i agree 2 weeks of the same is abit much, but its not burger and chips everyday. outside this hotel is la strada, with mcd, kentuckyfried, chinese, pizza, and its cheap.oh i forgot to mention night club in the hotel should be complete by end of august.trips are a must glassbottom boat, snorkelling, the shallow waters are full of fish, trips with reps are expensive beach front at aaron waves and dive centre will do better deals, being pestered by locals at shops at night, just tell them you will be back or your childs tired they leave you alone.i hope my novel helps instead of all the negatives,by the way no egyptian tummy, they advise you anyway.will i go back? yes we are, thanks to everyone at the oriental for a fantastic 2weeks.from mark tracy tina sophie and ellie
