I went to The Oriental Resort, Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt for my holiday last week and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The service was excellent from when we arrived at the airport until the time we left. The taxi was very efficient as the driver was waiting for us at the arrivals area and we were immediatey taken to our hotel. Although we arrived at the hotel around 10.30pm Egyptian time, the hotel assistants were very interested and keen to help us and we were shown our rooms without any problems.
Myself and my sister shared a twin room and our parents were three rooms away so we had some space although they weren't miles away, at the other end of the hotel.
The restaurants and evening entertainments were good. There were discos and games for children, teenagers and adults from around 7.30pm until midnight. The food in the hotel was also of a very high standard, with a lot of choice. There were evening meals, such as, pasta, meats and vegetables or barbecues, or you could choose to have desserts as well. Breakfast was pastries or cereal, or bread and jam and for lunch, there were salads and food also available from the pool bar.
The swimming pools were also very relaxing, the first had a bar cafe next to it, and there was a lot of space. There was also a water slide which amused us and other children for hours. No one seemed to mind where you were or what you were doing. I think that children would be very safe here as all staff are helpful and trained to work with guests with different needs. Although if you aren't too keen on relaxing by a swimming pool, you can always head off to the beach, a 5 minute walk away, on the same resort. But don't expect to be surfing or bodyboarding as there aren't any waves!
I would definitely recommend this hotel/resort to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing break in Egypt. The only thing which I regret is that we were only there for a week. I would have liked to have been there longer!

8th time in Sharm and the first time at the Oriental so here goes from us.
We have stayed at the Grand Azure and the Calimera Royal Moderna in the past and can only say that the oriental is the Donkey running against two racehorses.
I have read good reveiws about this place and can only assume that these people know nothing else to compare with and the bad reveiws about lack of seating, tumblers being used for beer are half full and Russians are sheer rude people, are all true.
Food is basic and bland compared to even 1960 Butlins economy standard and the beach bar and pool bar food is beyond a joke offering a measly roll with slivers of overcooked reheated food and a saucer of chips.
There is food served throughout the day and so you won't starve but the selection is far lacking compared to the other 2 hotels we have stayed in and they are all supposed to be 5*.
Entertainment is strange to say the least. You were called over the road to the local shops to see the "show" most nights which I can only say is to avoid the hotel supplying the guests with free drinks! They have a Beach BBQ on a Tuesday night which we did not go to because of our arrival time and departure time but I wouldn't have gone anyway because it was 20 euros per person for the food, drink and entertainment. You could miss out the food and pay 10 euros per person to watch the show and have a drink. What is all inclusive about then if you are having to pay for this night. The Grand Azure had a really good Egyptian night one night a week and they got in local stall and shop owners to sell their wears and had lots of different food stations and this was all free.
The other 2 hotels had various entertainment going on in different parts of the hotel during the evenings and you could sit at various locations and various bars and enjoy a drink and the entertainment. Ok, it maybe a bit like karaoke but it is really good fun because you have to take it in the spirit that it is done.
The quality factor of the rooms is enhanced by the unskilled tile grouters who splosh all the very very tired cracks and holes and then leave the residue where it is. The bathrooms were very tired and the corridors leading to the rooms needing whitewashing to brighten them up. I only saw a couple of gardeners each day during our stay and no maintenance workers at all. I know it is very hot and I personally wouldn't like to do their job but in the other hotels they are always pruning hedges and cutting the grass or rubbing down railings and repainting surfaces.
We did have a relaxing holiday because it was only the 2 of us and the children did not come. We had no choice but to relax and read etc because their was nothing else to keep us amused during the evenings. I am glad they did not come because there was really nothing for them to do.
We know Sharm quite well now and cannot recommend the Oriental to anybody expecting a great time away. Try the Grand Azure and Wow what a contrast.

Fantastic Spacious, Clean Hotel, good variety of food, but found most very Bland, buffet so try little and go by tastes, The staff are the friendliest you are likely to meet anywhere, lovely pool area, but seldom used as , beautifull Beach only five minutes walk through the stunning Hotel Grounds Garden, Shops OK for Bargain, if you wear Spectacles, take your pecriptions with you and buy some designer frames, a quarter what you pay here, shops goods are generally good quality, but haggle vigourously with the locals, when you get a good deal they are not so bad, Far superior to Tack Shop Spain , only complaint was tummy bug, probably no faults of hotel etc, buy your sandals the Hotel for around £6, whisky in shops less than a fiver a bottle,

My family and i stayed at the oriental for a week in early january of this year! And i have to say that it is by far the best holiday i have ever been, i absoulutely loved everything about the oriental resort! The lobby was so elgant with the high ceilings and chandeliers it was a great first impression, our bags were immediatly taken by staff and we were led to our rooms witch were immaculate and very spacious and the terrace provided a great wind break for when it became a bit breezy. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and snacks never dissapointed, the laid back atmosphere in the dining room was great when it came to attire as you could jut stick on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt on to go for lunch, but found that everyone got a bit dressed up to go for dinner which was great, the dining room was very elagant and i loved how it was on a different level from lobby, main bar etc...The main pool was rather cold but i can imagine that it will need to be that cold for the summer seasons, the heated pool at the bottom was great and was a matter of yards from the beach, the surrounding gardens were absolutly fabulous and very well kept! The entertainment wasn't the best thing about the holiday but was very good, the entertainment team were lovely and were always trying to get you involved and keep you smiling.
The staff were one of the best factors of the holiday, We gave our cleaner a small tip everyday and were left fresh flowers every morning and swans made out of towels on the bed etc they really did pay attention to detail and made the rooms as clean and comfortable as possible. The waiters and bar staff were acceptional we really did fall in love with most of the, they were the most friendliest, loveliest people i have ever met, we really did grow close to a few of them, the head bar man was lovely and remebered our usual drinks by the second day, he really was a great man, there was two waiters in the dining room both called mohmmed the older one was a senior and was really very lovely, and the younger one was just a truly special person, he always had a smile on his face and was great with the whole family especially my younger sister, step-brother and siter, we did get on extremly well with him the whole week, he gave us his mobile number and we also gave him our numbers, and we regulary text or phone to see how he's getting on, we even have a photograph in our living room of him with the whole family!
I would strongly recommend this holiday to anyone, i loved every minute of it, the rooms, food, staff, gardens, beach, pool, entertainment everything about this hotel was 5*
we loved it so much we're goin back in september!
p.s only bad thing is you hav to get on a plane to get there, not good! as i hate flying hehehe!

Don't be put off by these stupid comments from very rude people!
(They are probably boring & don't know what a holiday is!)
The hotel was lovely friendly & very clean,
The waiters, bar-men & any other staff we met during our stay were lovely.
Yes! .. men do like the women but what country with men in doesn't!
Again pools are not heated who wants them too be the temperature out there you wanna just jump in a cool pool! Food is lovely, Service is quick at bar or food ques! my shower & bath water was always clean & powerfull! soo don't listen too other people..
Town is about 15 mins in a taxi! cheap too, just some are too greedy .. but just tell them no!
Gym is awsum! the boys luvd it! plenty of activites too do during the day for both women, men & children music round pool gives it a lovely holiday feeling, for example who doesn't like sun batheing getting a tan & listening too the music at the same time! Its fab!
Entertainment is bril! very funny? but i would say this is certainly not a hotel for people over 40! as you can tel from the other comments! this is more a holiday for youngsters i would say!
Don't be put off honest! you'll luv it?
Im goin bac this year as i luvd it soo mch..
thank-you for such a nice holiday! x

I have given a 10 rating purely on the basises of the staff
the hotel was not a 5* but more 3 or 4 food ok and lots of upset tummies around the hotel
but the gardens were lovely and the hotel very clean rooms great, but the staff were excellent and made you feel very special.
main pool freezing but beach made up for this, animation team brillant with children,
but most of all waiting staff could not have worked any harder to make you feel that you was the most important guests in the place
and a special hello to El Hady from my 3 year old son Dylan who just fell in love with him.
I would return there.

A great location, shops over the road and a Macdonalds 5 minutes, if that to walk to.
The staff were all brilliant apart from one guy called Karam who worked in the pit stop.
All i can say is if he takes a shine to you do not go in the ladies toilets alone. (say no more).
I went alone with 2 teenagers, the entertainment left a lot to be desired nothing to do at night for the kids, luckily they met up with a gang and they were fine and amused themselves. The all inclusive option is good because you can get food almost anytime except after 10pm. The pool area is lovely and you could always get a bed even if you got up after 9am and Nemo the pool attendant is lovely and very helpful.
Ragab one of the bar staff is lovely and always got a big smile. The local beer on draught which is free till 12am has got to be non alcoholic as 1 night i had about 20 glasses and i could still walk lol. They do have bottles but at £3 i gave that a miss.
Anyway all in all a great time had by all and i would recommend it to anyone.
Food is catered for all guests so if you cant find anything to eat you must be really fussy and if you want chips they will cook them for you if you ask.
