Many good things some awful, mixed review

Jun 2011, Beznbaz

Very nice public areas, our room was clean and spacious though we had to ask 3 times for our 4th bed. beware the mini bar is a small fridge that they load with glass bottles in the door - you open it and the all smash in the stone floor - lovely welcome after your journey!!.
Nothing is explained clearly, its kind of a guess how to for the first couple of days, especially restaurants, and bars, but if you come for more than a week you will find plenty of time to settle in. Our room was clean, towels and bedding changed daily. the only criticism with the housekeeping is they wet mopped the marble fllors with a string mop, leaving it treachorously wet through...BEWARE it is lethal till dry.
Food good while there are no conferences but if there are you will be served substandard fayre, with little or no meat choice other tand processed meat. They do not clear the tables quickly so be prepared to do this yourself to ensure you have a table to sit at.
A La cartes were good but not "A La Carte" its is pretty much a set menu...but the quality is good.
kids were a little bored, the kids club was aimed at younger kids, my youngest is 9 and she was fed up with the same mini disco every night...but the showtime varied and was pretty decent most nights...nothing happens on a sunday though even though they put it on the activities board.
Main clientel are Russian, so you need to "grow a beard" to keep hold of your seat/get served at the bar/ get a staff members attention etc... the harem day beds were great but we witnessed frayed tempers many times over "reserving" beds at night...all in all decent hotel, really needs to pay attention the the small details though as these really let it down, we saw many staff leaving during our stay - it appeared the staff mostly hated their jobs...and it was clear to the guests.

Eventful holiday Oct-Nov 2010

May 2011, holidaylover

First thoughts when myself, boyfriend and his family pulled up to the hotel was that it was a fantastic hotel.
All was going well untill we reached our rooms.
The bedroom looked dirty and damp, and the shower curtain looked as though it had mould growning up it.
As you would guess we spent as little time as possible in the hotel room. Each night we heard noises like people were walking on the roof infront of our balcony .The bar staffs were lovely as well as the animation staffs. However reception staff were very rude!
By the last day we were all ready to go home. One member of the party spent the last night in Bodrum night life whilst me and my boyfriend went to our room and his sister stayed in the room next to ours. At this point there was only our party and one other couple which we had met through the duration of our holiday.
Whilst packing mine and my boyfriends suitcases, our electricity had cut off. An electrician was called to fix the situation at around 12.30 am. Around 10 minutes later the sister was banging on our door crying saying her balcony door had unexpectedly opened. she got into bed with me and my boyfriend and as we began to get to sleep around 12.45 am there was a bang on our balcony and our door was knifed open.
We then spent the majority of the night in reception. Our other memeber of the party was called back to the hotel with staff we had made friends with. Reception refused to show us the hotel CCTV and refused to call the police. All six of the party then stayed in my boyfriends mothers hotel room. Everybody was shaken up and had very little sleep all night. The electric also then cut off in the room we spent the night in at around 9am the next morning.
I would strongly recommend not to stay in this hotel. This has made none of us want to return back to Turkey.

We feel we were duped, booked a room with a sea view to find the view obscured by trees and a brick wall. We were kept awake by drunken yobs, screaming, shouting and breaking glass. Room stank of sewage. Asked to be moved the manager would'nt move us until we agreed to pay a further £300.00. The upgraded room was initally quieter but unclean. Dirty bathroom, mould growing in corners of bath, stained carpets, single bedding for a double bed, blood stains on mattress. Room not cleaned properly all the time we were there. Prior to us leaving we had drunken polish yobs in the room next to us drinking all night playing music, tal;king and shouting out on balcony, security and management unconcerned.

First impression as I and my wife entered Hotel lobby was good had the appearance of 5 star quality. How ever it was not long before the reality started to show. At reception my wife got the impression that the male receptionist was taking the mick out of us whilst booking us in. We were led to our Club Delux Sea view room, No problems to start with rooms cleaned daily, but then after a few days they were not being cleanrd for days and towels were not being changed. You could complain to Reception and they would make a note on the computer but that was it nothing else would happen. One night we decided to retire early only to be woken up by heavy banging on our door. Upon opening it I was confronted by 3 Technical Service Staff who wanted to check our bathroom taps, this at 12.30 at night. Our water was ok at this time but when we got up next morning no hot water. Reported matter to reception who recorded problem on computer and said it would be dealt with in 10 minutes. I hasten to say that their answer to everything is that problems will be attended to in 10 minutes which of course does not happen. I then found out that the hotel has a Hotel personal relations member of staff to whom I spoke some hours later and to be fair she got the plumbing sorted but she did also explain that it was a wast of time talking to Reception she also demanded that the Technical Services Manager apologise on the part of his staffs intrusion during the early hours of the morning which she did not believe initially because it was claimed that the Tech. staff did not work such hours. I could go on and on but to cut matters short our impression was that their is insufficient staff employed and as a result the Pool Area and Sun loungers got dirtier and dirtier with each day. The Restaurant staff could not cope as result tables not cleared in time, ran out of cups and glasses and certain hot foods restocked.
Day time entertainers worked very hard but the evening entertainment was very poor for a Hotel which had a captured audiance due to location. All the contact staff with exception to some reception staff were friendly and helpful although you did feel some resentment from some others.
It was very strange that 3 days before we were due to leave the Electrical Company LG (Lifes Good) moved in for what appeared to be a convention, banners flying etc. All of a sudden people appeared from no where to clean all the Public Areas, we even had cotten napkins on the dinner tables for the evening meal not the usual paper ones, everything was almost perfect. So what does this tell us ?
Sorry could be a very nice hotel with the right management but currently does not justify 5 stars should be 3 stars

Jul 2010, Oleg

We stayed at ISIS for 12 days. Bought it via travel agency. The hotel location is good enough - close to the city (taxi expensive but u can take a bus that will take u to Bodrum within 15 min). Water was very clean so you could see the bottom for 4-6 m. Another advantage was food. It was veryyyy nice!
But the animation team, service in general (especially in-room service) was quite poor. Staff was inattentive. There are several types of rooms there, both small and spacey. You can not predict where you will end up. The swimming pool is small and can not embrace all guests, overcrowded. The biggest con is the beach, or better to say it's absence! The beach area made of concrete (!) and only tiny piece of land that leads to the water is sandy. The hotel's area, in general, is very small, with no place to walk basically. There are several restaurants on the hotel's territory but only one of them (Turkish one) is decent. Internet is available only in the lobby. Recommend with reservations!

Booked a Club room with 4 beds and upon arriving was allocated a room with 3. We don't so much blame the Tour Operator but the hotel. Everything at this hotel is done on the cheap to maximize profits, extort more money out of the unsuspecting holiday makers down to putting you into rooms that you haven't booked to force you into paying for an upgrade (19 EUROS per person per night - beware). in our case they put us in a room with 3 beds when we needed 4 (could it be argued that the Tour Operator shouldn't be selling them if they're not available? Having spent 3 days in Reception trying to get a room move and being offered rooms with double beds only for a family of 5 (yes we believe it was deliberate) we observed problems like this right across the UK tour operators as new holidaymakers arrived and fell into the same trap . The hotel is a lot nicer than the Club but this is what they want you to upgrade to. The all inclusive aspect is somewhat resisted by the hotel I assume once again to maximize profits - few restaurant staff that are available to even serve you a drink at dinner, one ice cream man for 1 hour only left us queuing for an hour at a time, same lunchtime food in both snack bars (chips, burgers?, spaghetti and salad). If your children like pizzas, nuggets, fish fingers etc., forget this hotel. They'll get brussel sprouts (yes, the chef must have been the Child Snatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - who serves children Brussels? I've never seen such inedible kids food). Our kids don't just eat the above, they will try things but not the stuff being served up to them daily at the Mickey & Minnie Buffet. We'll eat practically anything and sometimes we were pushed, but neither my wife nor I would have touched the kids food. Just on the subject of extortion, i hope you suffer no illness whilst you are there, but if you do, do not use the hotels clinic. They are part of a wider scam to make money from us. They actively promote their services to you round the pool in an attempt to drum up business. They are in cahoots with the private clinics/hospitals trying to get as much money from our Insurers as possible. Use local Doctors/Pharmacists if you need anything - I'm convinced the hotel gets kick backs from any claim put through the insurance.
The whole complex is disjointed. Entertainment was an afterthought with a makeshift stage for evening entertainment on the football pitch/tennis court (with a makeshift bar serving water and juice). What a load of rubbish (the entertainment and the hotel itself). We've been going to Turkey for years and this hotel and it's management ethos and staff give Turkey a bad name. We had some expectations going to a 5 star hotel (and yes, we do appreciate the difference between UK 5* and Turkey 5*) but this hotel was worthy of 3* at best. Forget trying to get anything out of the reception staff - it's not that they can't speak English, they are trained not to and to be as obstructive and as unhelpful as possible - this is simply the worst customer service we've ever experienced. This hotel is becoming overrun by young Russians and Kazak's (not that we've got anything against them, but it had the air of a knocking shop - not really one for families). We appreciate that different people have different expectations so when we read the mixed reviews we went there with an open mind, but wish we never had. Apologies if this review gives you any doubt about your forthcoming holiday, hopefully it will help set your expectations and get you prepared. We love Turkey, we love the Turks, we love Bodrum but this hotel and experience on this holiday has left us with such a bitter taste that we might not return to Turkey for a long time.

Well we both went to this hotel for a week. We both went there open minded but slightly worried about the reviews we read. When we got there however, we were pleasantly suprised. Our room was very light and spacious, clean all the time as the maids clean everyday. The minibar was also filled everyday with drinks free of charge. The food is great for meat lovers but they are obviously not going to cater specifically for vegetarians, although there is loads of veg and fuit and some amounts of fish. The restaurants within were very nice, especially the italian. All the staff were really friendly and know excellent English, so the people who have complained about that are ridiculous as even the ones who know little English had enough to give us what we needed or passed us on to someone who did. It is a foreign country and we go there so we should not expect them to break their backs when we go there with little or no Turkish. We spoke to most of the staff and they all came and said bye to us on our last day. The staff in the spa are particulary warming and the spa in itself is well worth a visit (have a Turkish bath!). The outside snack bar caters for fussy people by serving burgers, chips, salads, and pasta. If your the type of person who is just going to get a tan, the beach and the pool side are great. However, if you want to actually explore its best to get out of the hotel and get around yourself on the minibuses which are always the same price, and the driver helps you out if your unfamiliar with the area. Everything is a good price you just need to know how to deal with hasslers. Gumbet and Bodrum are both worth visits. Gumbet is slightly crazy whilst Bodru, was quite relaxing and a nice place to be. Everywhere caters for English people and if you are nice to people they will be nice back. The excursions out of the hotel are about half the price but be careful about who is trustworthy. The entertainment at the hotel is also good, excersies, gym, game rooms, disco, chill out zones, indoor pool which is really relaxing and mostly empty, saunas, tennis court, and water sports by the sea. Overall, we were extremely pleased with this holiday and definatelly will be going back again. It is well worth it if you are open minded and not ignorant of other cultures.
