I would thoroughly recommend BB Venezia to anyone who is visiting Venice. From the first phone call to them the owner was friendly and helpful. I had visited Venice last year and had stayed in a hotel... this year, I was on a budget so decided to opt for bed and breakfast.
I wasn't sure what to expect from a B&B - my experiences in the UK have been that sometimes you are expected to only be on the premises at night or during breakfast, even if you have booked several nights. BB Venezia is effectively a friendly hotel - they have several rooms and the owner's family live on one floor of the property.
The breakfast is all laid out waiting for you in an adjacent kitchen which is exclusively for the guests' use - so you can get up when you like and eat breakfast at your leisure without staff or owners insisting on specific times. You are also free to come and go from the property at any time (you will be issued with a key.)
The room was wood-panelled and stunning and is situated in St. Elena - for the uninitiated, this is a few stops by riverboat from downtown Venice, which is a good thing - you are away from the hustle and bustle but it only takes a few minutes on the boat to be bang in the middle of it all again.
St Elena is peaceful and slow-paced... perfect for unwinding with a green and trees, in front of a magnificent view of the river. There is also a museum here (which I didn't have time to visit.) You can be in Lido in a couple of stops which makes a nice change from Venice (Lido is in the opposite direction from Venice if you travel there from St Elena.) There are also facilities at St Elena itself - shops and a bar (not noisy) close to the accommodation...
The price was fantastic - I think when I went it was just before the height of peak season (UK schools had not yet broken up for the summer) - so it may be more expensive in the middle of the summer.
The owner of the accommodation was delightful - always on hand to provide information. I cannot recommend BB Venezia highly enough. There are many expensive hotels in Venice (just do a web search!) Do well for yourself - save money and know that you will have a wonderful stay at BB Venezia.
Venice of course was absolutely wonderful - and not expensive. A decent meal can be had for 7 Euros or more in a restaurant and the city is stunning as you probably already know! Absolutely charming. In my view 3 days is enough time here as it is all quite similar, although a friend of mine goes for a week every year!
In short, go - you will love it!
