Previous to arriving at the Azka, we were staying at the Isis in Gumbet, where we promptly moved from after 1 day of torture, so we were not sure what to expect from the Azka. We were pleasantly surprised.
On arriving at the hotel, all the staff were very polite and friendly. We were checked in promptly, and shown to our room. The room was more basic that I expected for a 5*, but had all the usual - sat TV, air con, mini bar, free safe. All rooms seem to have sea view, and the hotel is directly on the beach, offering B&B and Half Board. The hotel offers 3 pools, one roof top, one indoor by the gym (well equipped) and one on the way to the beach.
The hotel is situated in a little cove outside Bodrum, with 4 neighbouring hotels all sharing the beach and facilities, but there were plenty of loungers and space. The pool areas are very clean and relaxing, and there are food and drink facilities by each and on the beach for hotel guests, and very reasonably priced. Everything is chargeable to your room and you settle the bill at the end of your stay.
The Breakfast offered is to a good standard and there is the option to sit outside by the pool, or inside in the main restaurant.
Entertainment is good - Turkish nights, BBQ's, Beach Party. There is usually something going on. There is a great beach bar at the end of the beach, and the guys working there are very entertaining!
Bodrum centre is about a 2k walk, but there is a taxi boat leaving from the beach bar every 10-15 mins through the day until about midnight for only 2.50 TL pp (90p each way). Or you can use the more conventional land taxi!
Overall, this was a very enjoyable holiday, and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This was a top class high standard hotel that more than lived up to our expectations. Facilities were first class and the staff friendly and helpful. Private and public rooms were tastefully decorated and very comfortable.
We were only in for bed and breakfast which was wonderful, but we have rebooked to stay for 2 weeks in June 2005 on half board basis as we enjoyed it so much. Tulip holidays are a great company to travel with and it was on their recommendation that we went to the Azka and we were very grateful!
The hotel is in a wonderful location as it is peaceful and quiet in the bay but just a short water taxi away from bustling Bodrum and short taxi drive away from hectic Gumbet - both nice to visit but even nicer to get back to the peaceful quiet ambience of the Azka.
Please try it, you will not be disappointed.

A Nightmare. We were subjected to being searched every time we entered the hotel grounds. We had a few inches of water in a litre bottle confiscated, after a 1 1/2 hour debate. We gave up when it proved that we were getting nowhere and we wanted to go to our room.
The food was poor and the drinks over-priced. The staff are polite but dull, there seems as though there is a problem with morale at this establishment.
Our beds were not made every day and there were marks of the previous occupiers make up spills on the carpet that should have been cleaned.
The provision of indoor heated pool (which seemed very cold) Jacuzzi and gym were all at extra cost. Not really what you expect at a supposedly 5* hotel.
Please note that if you have booked to stay at the Azka, all is not lost. Go next door to the Charm Hotel (a very good 4* plus), they do a great evening meal (with free water) and simple but nice snacks at the beach side. Much better quality than the Azka. The staff there are also happy and jovial, and will make your holiday.
