We had a shaky start at this hotel. We were booked for 3 nights but when we arrived we were informed they didn't have a room for us for the first night so we were transferred to another hotel all the way across the lagoon on the Lido.

This wasn't all that convenient, as we had traveled since 3am and also we were going to dinner with friends who lived two minutes from the St. Elena which meant we had to travel about. However, the St. Elena provided us with a private water taxi to the other hotel (these cost a fortune and it was great to actually go in one) and then arranged for us to leave our luggage in our room at the other hotel the following day for them to pick up and transfer while we were out. This all went very smoothly.

When we turned up at the St. Elena the following afternoon we were given the key to our room and told our luggage was already in there. When we went in to the room it was amazing, we had been upgraded to a junior suite, in fact the best junior suite, it even had it's own gigantic balcony complete with outdoor shower! The suite was on two floors, with walk in wardrobe/dressing room, and a huge glass wall from the bedroom (with the biggest bed you have ever seen) with patio doors to the balcony. It had a walk in shower and really good toiletries not to mention the most luxurious, fluffy white bathrobes.

If this wasn't enough there was a knock on the door within 10 minutes and a chilled bottle of cuvee and crisps were served up to us compliments of the hotel. They may have messed us about but they really made up for it. Breakfast was really good and taken in the breakfast room or out in the garden. All in all this is a terrific hotel and in a quiet residential area.
