Just a bit of a much larger room, with a second bedroom -- both with canal views. Great for a family -- easy walk (or gondola) everywhere. canal in front

Palazzo Priuli Hotel Reviews

9 / 10
Aug 2007, Ms S E Surridge

Not a standard type of hotel as our room and the breakfast room were accessed directly from the canal side through a charming patio and not via the hotel reception. The room was very dark on entry as the shutters were closed but revealed itself to be of a good size and... more

Great hotel
My friend and I stayed at the Palazzo Priuli for a couple of nights in March on a bed/breakfast basis. The room, although small, was very clean, comfortable and typically Venetian. Breakfast was taken in the main Palazzo in a glorious room, overlooking the canal. Reception staff were courteous and helpful - and available 24hrs. Overall, for the money we paid we got great service. A lovely hotel and one which I would have no problem in recommending.
Great Place
Have just returned from a 3day short trip to Venice with my wife. Having stayed at the Hotel Plalazzo Priuli all I can say that the room was excellent, the standard of Breakfast was far better than the usual Continental Breakfast that is normally on offer, and the staff was were brilliant, nothing was to much trouble when asked. within 10 minutes of all the major sights. Anybody thinking of a Gondala ride present cost Euro 80 for 35/40mins Would recommend this Hotel all the time
hard to find...terrible service
After lugging our luggage over bridge after bridge we arrived at the hard to find palazzo Priuli-- After check in we were lead next door to the hotel annex..where we hiked up four flights of stairs to our room. The hotel is haunted...which makes for an interesting stay...not to mention the walls of the hotel are paper thin...to say the least, it was hard to get a good nights sleep. We found the service at the hotel non accomidating and found the staff to be slightly rude. I would never stay here again-and urge any on looker else where.
Palace by name Palace by nature
Arrived very late in evening, welcomed my friendly efficient staff- rooms in style, modern to the point of comfortable without loosing the `old building character. Breakfast standard continental, the egg boiling machine is a lot like doing the lottery (you dont know what you will end up with!) Restaurant too small really gets overcrowded busy times (9am-10am)Staff very helpful, building in great location, on edge of tourist centre & attractions but far enough away for peace & quiet (quietest nights sleep I have ever had) Fresh linen daily, rooms always serviced sdaily to high standard. dont use restaurants local to hotel unless you want to be ripped-off and eat `tourist food` Already planning a return trip to Venice & this Hotel. Tv only English speaking channels BBC world news which is a poor service & Eurosport full of obscure sports! (you dont go away to watch telly but it helps a bit before you go to sleep) Finally as in most continental hotels no tea/coffee making facilities shame! so take your own if you want that early morning cuppa, (perhaps management will take note!)
Loved the Priuli
We stayed during the Carnival and for the third time at the "Palazzo Priuli", a 4 stars hotel, ideally located, very close by the Piazza San Marco. You can choose between the Palazzo itself (historical house of a Doge) and its two annexes : Cà Priuli and Nicolò Priuli. All the rooms have very high quality, quiet and comfortable, with elegant furniture. You will have in any case your breakfast in the sumptuous living-room of the Palazzo : a continental breakfast (buffet) as delicious as copious and varied, available from 7.30 to 11.00 am. Michele Torcellan the manager, and the whole staff try to fulfil any of your desires, and make of this hotel an authentic and very special place.
Definitely not a 4-star
We stayed here for 3 nights in mid-October after being sent from another hotel (which had overbooked). Believe what you've read here about this hotel, it is hard to find and you don't want to stay in the Annex. We stayed on the first floor after asking to be moved from the Annex. Our room was right on the canal, so we could hear motorboats and some kind of sump pump the first night. The hotel is really only a 3-star at best. The reception staff was okay, some good and some not so good. Breakfast was adequate: breads, croissants, cheeses, meat, eggs, yogurt, fruit and caffe. For what we paid, about $240/night, there are much better hotels than this.
beware of the annexe
after taking a age to find it in the dense fog and pitch dark at 10 pm it was not a good start. when we eventully found reception we were led back out the door to the top floor of a annexe 200 yards away, only to find it only had one single bed. My husband then had to go back to reception to find another room. He said they were fully booked but some how found a room the floor below with a double bed, after that the stay was not to bad, but definately not a four star. Found the receptionists not very helpful.
OK but not 4* by a long shot
Palazo Priuli to say the least is tricky to find. We arrived in Venice on the Water Bus from Marco Polo armed only with their map off the website. After a few visits to grocery stores and bars in the now dark we eventually tacked our way in. The room was in an annex just down the canal from the main building and was extremely small. Being 6'5" tall I was hoping to at least be able to walk around the bed at the same time as my partner AND hopefuly be able to fit in the bed - no chance. The room was however clean and on the basis we didn't spend much time in it was adequate. There was a small television, a mini bar, very dim lighting (to dark to read by comfortably) and totally inadequate storage space, we had to leave our wash kit in the bidet and not unpack our clothes !! Breakfast was OK ish a rather dull cold buffet arangement of cold meat and bread - but there's always plenty of top up to be had in Venice. Summary:- Definately not 4 star, small rooms (albeit clean), convieniently located when you find it, not good value for money. Would not recommend.
Nowhere near the Palazzo Priuli
Well, once we found it (and we thought we knew Venice inside out) we were slightly disappointed I guess. Stylish small "antique" hotel with reasonable facilities but compares poorely with equivalently rated hotels. I guess, 3-star would have been a better indication. Breakfast is fine - the setting very attractive. The guests - like us, all middle class though mainly Americans here for the first time. Lots of guide books in evidence on brakfast tables. However no bar and a very minimal public sitting area, so you are very much confined to your room. A sense of small over-rides all. Bedroom, room 110 on the ground floor overlooked a busy canal with constant ebb and flow of water traffic including gondolas. It was a small room very clean and comfortable in the main building with small but acceptable bathroom. OK, but hardly 4-star! The position is good, close to the Bridge of Sighs but miles from the ACTUAL Palazzo Priuli which is in the Santa Maria de Formosa and is a huge Venetian Palace currently being renovated. Visitors to the HOTEL must aim for the nearby San Zacariah Church which is 50 yeards around the corner. The hotel is on the Bridge of the Devil so beware those who are superstitious. Make sure you are not stuck in the drab annexe. I would suggest checking this out when booking. My suggestion is aim for a upstairs front room ideally 3rd floor. (No lift). Not the best value in Venice. You can do a helluva lot better for the money!
a beautiful old worldy hotel
after booking the hotel i read some of the reviews which i came across by chance and to be honest i felt that i had made a big mistake......instead........i found the most beautiful hotel in the heart of venice just around the corner from saint mark's square and away from all the hussle and bussle. if i hadn't been staying there i would have considered it one of the most beautiful parts of the real venice. i would highly recommend this quaint hotel for its service, staff, location and hospitality. we had the most beautiful time there and will definitely go to the hotel again. i felt like a princess there, the room was gorgeous, spotlessly clean, and a more than generous buffet breakfast served right up to 11.00 am. upon arrival a staff member even came to meet us as we got lost even though it is extremely easy to find! when i think of venice i will always remember my stay in hotel pruili.
