Fantastic Hotel

Everything about this place was fantatsic
The food, facillities, freindliness of the staff, entertainment, romms (although basic did the job)
Really nice place to stay which is in a lovely location 5 minutes away from the beach and 15 minutes away from the town, where there is a train station which is cheap and can link you to other nearby towns and Malaga.
Plenty of bars and restraunts around if you don't go all inclunsive.
As i said it is a lovely place with a great atmoshpere and i recommend it to everyone.
Great choice and variety of food which caters for everyone.
Staff are lovely, made my family feel welcome.
On the whole, A Superb hotel as i have said especially for money value :D

Disappointing!

Returned home after 2 weeks all inclusive staying at the Bali Hotel. The hotel was very disappointing, it took us 25 minutes to check in as the Reception staff seemed to favour the Spanish guests over ourselves and one other family who was checking in at the same time, not great when it is 11 pm at night and you have a small child. We found the room to be quite clean and comfortable but some of the corridors were quite shabby. Could not fault the drinks in the all inclusive package, everything was included provided it was not a named drink i.e. Malibu but soft drinks Fanta etc was all included. Some bar staff would not allow you to order more than two drinks at a time, bit annoying when you have 3 or 4 in your party!
We found the breakfast/lunch/dinner food very bland, the same everyday and quite boring and tasteless. If you like puddings forget it, we nicknamed the deserts "coloured slop" consisting of pink, brown, yellow and red custard/mousse. Salads and fruits offered was very poor. If you were out during the day and did not want to eat in the restaurant, no al fresco dining was available, we found that the so called "snacks" which consisted of toasted cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers (avoid, barely cooked!) and plain crisps! were not available from 12.30 - 3.00 pm. It was advertised that a barbeque was available but it wasn't. They also advertised an afternoon tea/coffee which consisted of tea and coffee and packets of dry plain biscuits, not what you would expect an afternoon tea to be at all.
The food was that bad, after speaking to a number of other people who were of the same opinion as us, we were recommended to visit a lovely Chinese restaurant called PANDA about 5 mins walk from the Bali (Turn left when leaving hotel and walk up the hill). The food was great, tasty and very reasonably priced. Some of these people had already visited several local restaurants in the area rather than eat again at the Bali restaurant (even though they had already paid for meals at Bali).
Beach was a let down, not very wide, busy, and quite shingly when entering sea. There was also a steep dip when walking into the sea but then it became softer under foot and shallower. The notorious "cardiac hill" was actually not that bad, but not recommended for old people or a pushchair/pram.
The cable car ride is definitely worth going on to see spectacular views from the top of the mountain of the sea and surrounding areas. Would also recommend AquaLand which isn't far and they run a reasonably priced bus service. Watch out for the keen staff though, they do like to blow their whistle's a lot!!
The entertainment was not too bad, lots to do for kids. However the shows at night were slightly disappointing as the entertainment staff were just miming to original sound tracks, which is OK when they are dancing but surely not for a solo number!!
They also run a Thomson’s kids club but the lady that run’s it really needs to smile once it a while!
Overall we were very disappointed with the hotel, the staff and the food and would not recommend it to anyone, especially a family.

One of the cheapest c-d-s hotels i could find in the height of august. So it isnt really fair to expect a lot.
Been to area several times before. Been to Bali before two yrs ago also.
Yep, it is a very 'tired' hotel. Decor seems straight out of 70s. eg Hallway/corridor carpets well and truly worn out etc. Really needs a major uplift.
That said, we were happy enough. Rooms were clean and kept that way by an army of cleaners (yes, i checked under the bed etc - before we unpacked!).
But, it is ok for the price. Two pools, plenty of sunbeds, activities for kids and adults.
Food is same as any 3/4 star spanish hotel - no better, no worse. We didnt upgrade to all inc as we dont eat/drink all day long so just paid for the odd evening meal at about 11 euros per adult which is very reasonable.
hotel is on a steep hill but its only 200m long - wheelchairs/disabled advised to look elsewhere.
Take care at BUSY road at bottom of hill - need to cross it to get to beach - be patient, use your brains, wait for green man and even then keep all eyes open!!!
As mentioned by ohters, pool lifeguard does go for a wander when he wants and comes back an hour later so dont count on him.
Overall, a nice cheap base (with no complaints) for exploring the surrounding area - which really does have a LOT to offer for all ages. We've been several times and still probably havent been everywhere yet.

Recently returned from the bali hotel 13/8/10..........Bad points first....Could do with some modern decor the oarange halls with carpets are not what were used to! Rooms basic but only for sleeping in so wasn't bothered..........Everything else cant fault to be honest. Food great at dinner time and lots of choice every night. Breakfast........Same thing for 14 days in a row EGGS BACON LINK SAUSAGE BEANS TOAST AND ORANGE JUICE......Entertainment was good for kids as we were with our 3 year old and they made a good effort to amuse them......Only other real dissapointment was the pool lifeguard who was more intrested in chatting up spanish girls and swimming with them and on one occasion missed a young kid calling for help much to the dissapointment of the guests. Not a bad holiday have been at better accomodation but all in all had a great time.

Would not reccomend this hotel. When first arrived we wanted to go home, firstly there was a very loud disco type thing going on and it was past midnight, they did not even want to let us have a bottle of water as it was past midnight. When we got in our rooms we were so dissapointed, the room was small, plaster coming off the walls and wallpaper coming away, dirt stains on walls. only one key allowed per room was annoying but they did not even work so took ages to get in the room, the rep said he was aware.
Not enough staff on especially in the bar, I often did not get a drink because it took ages to get served, one girl started crying saying she had been waiting 40 minutes to be served. There were two people serving for this massive noisey hotel.
We would never go there again, have been to many 3 star hotels none as bad as this, I dont know where the good reviews come from to be honnest.
There were also many many screaming kids there, probably more kids than adults, so I could not swim in pool.
Food was not good, they like their icecream and tinned fruit every day, I was desperate for fresh fruit. Surround by pool looks filthy. Really needs refurbishing badly.
So glad to be home at last, glad it was only one week.
Aparrantly Rivieara hotel is lovely, and on the beach too

Me and my boyfriend went to this hotel in july 2009. We got there early in the morning to find that receptionists were waiting for us, signed us in and handed us our key. This took approximately 5-10 minutes.
We got to our room which was quite high up however this did not make a difference as there was an elovator and it meant that we could get a beautiful pool and sea view.
We went all inclusive and the food was brilliant. However, they do use a lot of olive oil. The drinks were none stop.. at night while watching the excellent entertainment we had big jugs full of sangria and beer (recommend all inclusive for this as they were about £5 per jug).
The only negative about this hotel was where it was located. (On a hill). To get to the sandy beach we had a lovely stroll down the hill, which took about 5 minutes. BUT... Then we had to get back up it. Managed it everyday so it wasnt off putting at all, i mean there were toddlers able to walk up and down it.
I would have given the service, entertainment and all inclusive package 10/10 but the hill knocks the 1 off.
Oh and i came back very very brown as the weather was brilliant at this time.. upto 32*c .

Just arrived back from a 4 day break at the Bali. We had booked a self catering room, when we arrived they asked us if we wanted to upgrade to all inclusive fro 28 euros per person per day, with the exchange rate being so poor it was a no brainer, and we still kept the apartment rather than a room only. The food was exellent enough choice for even the fussiest of eaters. The food was laid out buffet style so you could help yourself and at dinner the chef would cook meat or fish in the restraunt. Snacks ice cram etc were available on request at the bar but only when the restraunt was closed, I did not mind this as it stopped me making a pig of myself the only problem was if you did not want to go to the restraunt for dinner you had to wait until it shut before you could get snacks at the bar.
Rooms were good value, the hotel could do with tidying up a litte on the outside to to be fair some of that was going on when we were there. Entertainment in the hotel was good. There are plenty of bars and restraunt around the hotel if you are self catering, as I said the exchange rate is poor howevr you could get a pint of beer for 1.5 euros in some of the bars and a chinese buffet meal for about 5 euros.
Good value would go again.

Lifts didn't work
6 / 10
Sep 2009, Borowayne

We stayed in the Bali at the end of August 2009. The plus points of the hotel were the rooms which were spacious, had excellent air conditioning and were modern and clean. The hotel staff were generaqlly freinndly, but could start getting grumpy towards the end of the evening. The animation team were excellent, always energetic and enthusiastic - my 2 year old daughter loved the childrens disco. The childrens pool was also very nice but older children could sometimes take it over.
Unfortunately the food was the most disappointing of any spannish hotel I have stayed in, not especially imaginative and in the week we were there paella was not on the menu once. General upkeep and cleaning in the hotel was also not of the highest calibre, I spotted German cockroaches in the restraunt toilets and worst of all the lift was broken for 3 days.

  • Advice: Lovely park, great weather, good selection of bars
  • Activities: Blue beacon down at beach makes massive cocktails
  • Good For: Beach
