We booked 4 nights B&B which cost €600. A recent article in an Irish newspaper had confirmed what we had assumed from the online photographs and as we entered we were not disappointed with the decor, and the chic modern appearance of the hotel, especially when compared... more

This hotel really looks as good as the photos and web site! The staff are pleasant and very helpful, the rooms spotlessly clean and luxuriously decorated. Ideally located too for getting around the city between st marks and rialto. The 4th floor gym and spa area is... more

This hotel is worthy of a 5 star rating!!
We have just got back from our honeymoon in Italy where we spent 5 nights in Venice, 2 nights in Montecatini Terme and 5 nights in Rome. Ok, so we arrive at Venice Airport and take a water taxi to the first hotel, The Palace Bonvecchiati. We had a very warming reception and were welcomed into our room by a complimentary bottle of champagne. There was no upgrade on the room, which was a Superior Double costing £238 per night inc taxes and service fees, but we really didn’t need it. The room itself was large with a King Size bed. It had a seating area with coffee table, LCD TV, mini-bar, etc. It was lavished with contemporary fittings and had a brilliant air conditioning system. There was a good sized walk in dressing room and good sized bathroom. The rooms were serviced to a very high standard. The bathroom was a beautiful marble wet room with shower, bath, toilet and bidet. To give you an idea of the level of cleanliness and the high attention to detail this hotel had to offer, each time the bathroom was cleaned the marble walls and floor were left without a single water mark, all chrome fittings were polished removing any trace of finger prints, all products were replaced and it was like entering a brand new bathroom each time. We ate in the hotel for breakfast each morning. The quality of food on offer and the vast array of choices were superb. The service from the breakfast caterers was friendly and efficient. The concierge was extremely helpful and had plenty of advise to offer regarding nearby places of interest. The Palace Bonvecchiati is classed as a 4 star superior hotel and we have to say, we have stayed in some 5 star hotels in the past that have not been as good as this. We really couldn’t fault this hotel or the staff. It was exceptional in every way. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel the most out of all 3 of the hotels we stayed in during our time in Italy.
Best hotel of all my stays in Italy
I absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. I was surprised by some of the negative reviews given here. I think I had what they call a deluxe room and the room and the bath area were very spacious. We had a great view above the canal and were able to watch gondolas go by regularly which was nice. I thought the decor was great (but very modern) and the staff was very friendly. The location is great, just a five minute walk from St. Mark's square. Also, they have direct access to the water so that a water taxi may pick you up at the hotel rather than dragging your luggage for blocks (and usually over a bridge of stairs) as one has to do if you stayed at some other hotels. I thought that their breakfast buffet was the best we had by Italian hotel standards. Anyone who could posslibly criticize this has no idea what you get at most Italian hotels. I don't know if they do not provide air-conditioning year round. We stayed in May and had air-conditioning with a thermostat in our room.
Palace Bonvecchiati - room view not very good
My husband and myself have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Palace Bonvecchiati, we obtained a very reasonable rate with 'rates to go' for a superior double room. Hotel location was excellent for St Marks Square and Rialto bridge, however was disappointed with the position of the room. It was a reasonable size with a decent size bathroom, however it faced another part of the hotel and had scaffolding between the two windows and a funnel below. Very nosy from very early on in the morning, with what appeared to be the hotel workers operating machinery which kept getting stuck. I did think that a superior room would have had a better view but on discussions with the staff it is only executive rooms and junior suites which had the views over the rooftops. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was very good, the hotel does stand out from others I had seen, with a very professional finish to the decor, although the beds are quite uncomfortable. There are no tea making facilities in the room and ironing by the hotel is at a cost. The hotel is totally non smoking. Overall had a enjoyable stay, however if I had paid the full price for the hotel would not have been very happy with the noise, view out of the room or the uncomfortable beds.
Great place
Have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel and we loved it. It was in a perfect location, just a 2 minute walk to St. Marks Square or Rialto. We had booked a superior double room but, on arrival, were upgraded to a junior suite. It was beautiful, very clean and views over the roof tops towards St. Marks Square and of gondolas down below. The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent - good choice of hot and cold food. We would definately stay here again.
Great location, nice hotel, cupboard-sized room
We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of March. The hotel is in a great location literally minutes from St Marks Sq. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we were given was very tastefully decorated and very comfortable, but really (really!) small, and with a shower room rather than a bath. We asked to change but as the hotel was fully booked we had to spend the first night with this room. However true to their word the hotel changed us over the next day and the next room was larger with a big bath and shower room. Other than that the hotel was great, nothing but praise really. Buffet breakfast was good, small bar area was ok for a nightcap, and again the location was spot on if you want to be bang in the middle of Venice. That being said it was not not overly noisy or busy and once inside the hotel it was peaceful and relaxing after a hard days sightseeing.
Friendly hotel with a warm welcome
Just returned from a two night stay. as a single traveller I couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Nothing seeemed to be too much trouble for the staff. Location was good: about 5mins walk from St Marks in one direction & 5 mins from the Rialto in the other. Room was smart and attractive - although not especially large. Slight downsides were that the air conditioning - summer months only I believe - was not functioning making for a rather warm & muggy night. Also there is no restaurant on site - although I warmly recommend the 'Bistro Venise' almost immediately oposite the hotel entrance - relatively expensive but above average food and impeccable service.
Great Venice hotel
We have just returned from an Easter break staying at this hotel. Its location is terrific and it's cleaner and more spacious than we had expected from Venice. The staff are very firendly and helpful. The breakfast was okay, but nothing outstanding. Although all in all this hotel is highly recommended. My only slight concern was that the air conditioning (reserved for summer use) should have been on. We got a very warm day and opening the windows only let in the Venice mosqiutoes and occasional water 'aromas'. If you like your hotels warm it's fine but would have been nice to have been able to make the choice.
Great Stay!
My husband and I recently enjoyed our stay in Venice at this hotel. The staff was polite and helpful. Provided us with complimentary champagne for our honeymoon. Breakfast was above average and free! Rooms were very clean, beds very comfortable although the room was small. No big deal though since we were sightseeing all day and little time was spent in the room.
First class experience
We have just returned from a 3 day trip and were very impressed with this hotel. My husband wants to stay there again but I would prefer something in a more traditional venetian style (although I could be persuaded). The decor is very modern with all the fixtures and fittings virtually brand new and our room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was excellent complete with bathrobes ,slippers ,fluffy towels huge mirrors and lovely tiling. The only downside was the stupid hairdryer fixed to the wall ( take your own unless you want a frizzy mess) The breakfast was a typical buffet but the selection was better than average. If you have to pay extra then save your money and go to the lovely bakers down the street for fantastic cappucino and custard croissants/apple slices. The hotel location half way between San Marco and Rialto bridge on one of the main shopping streets was excellent although we had problems finding it and walked for 10 minutes in the wrong direction(I think this is fairly common in Venice though) All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and accomodating and we were also able to have a late check out as our flight was not till the afternoon. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone wanting first class service in a modern setting.
This hotel is absolutely lovely
I too was amazed at the review from bmeikle1@yahoo.com. I've just come back from 2 nights staying at Palace Bonvecchiati. We stay in a 4/5 star hotel at least 6 times a year, and Palace Bonvecchiati is one of the best! The hotel is lovely - our room was a good size and was beautifully decorated with a great bathroom. We could see the domes of St Marks from our window and awoke to the bells ringing at 9am.... it was heaven... B'fast was also lovely - eggs, ham and sausage and a fantastic selection of fruit, bread and pastry. Staff very very helpful. We'll definitely go back to stay here again.. soon hopefully.
