Great location but travel light!
As stated by previous reviwers the hotel is ideally situated for public transport. However what is not so ideal is the fact that upon arrival at Piiazza Roma, shanks pony is the order of the day and that's no mean feat! One has to negotiate a bridge and more steps with your luggage - not for the weak of heart, before arriving at the hotel. I do believe that a water taxi may have been an option but at 90-100 Euros from the airport to hotel that is sheer luxery! The hotel is modestly decorated with clean rooms and fresh daily linen. The... more

Dear Guest, As you noticed, in Venice there are hundreds of bridges. In front of the hotel there is canal, to get the hotel you have to cross a bridge.. The way to get the Hotel Olimpia from Piazzale Roma is one of the easyest in Venice. Thank you anyway for your review Kind Regards The Hotel Management

Great Hotel! Great Location!
Venice was my first stop in Italy. I booked this vacation through Gate1Travel and at first I was a bit skeptical of the hotels just because we decided to do this trip on a really tight budget, so to be quite honest I wasn't expecting anything great. HOWEVER, it was an absolute amazing hotel for the money. The rooms were extremely clean, small, but for three of us it was great. The bathroom was spotless and the breakfast was pretty hefty compared to some of the other hotels I stayed in. One of the things I liked most about the hotel... more
Great customer service & great bathrooms
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were good with a great bathroom. Breakfast was compelmentary and great (especially the coffee). I would reccommend to anyone!
Perfect place for convenience and price
June 29th 2008 We spent one night at the Hotel Olimpia and found it to be very convenient for the Grand Canal, bus terminal and train station. The staff were polite and efficient. They took care of our luggage as we were checking in before the room was ready. We returned after lunch to find all our safely stored in our room. The room was clean and the bathroom was large. We had a lovely view out to the canal. Breakfast had a large choice of items. There is nice walled garden and drinks can be served alongside the canal. Highly... more
Is this the same hotel?
We arrived mid-morning from a cruise so had to wait to check-in as they were busy with some checking out and others from the cruise checking in, too. The receptionist was short with us, maybe a language issue. We were asked to wait in a small room by the front desk that was very hot. As we were heading outside to see if it was cooler suddenly our room was ready. Our room looked out at the bus terminal so it was close to transportation. We had a very early flight the next morning so I can't address the breakfast served. The room was... more
'Just Ok'
We arrived in Venice about 9pm. Had a hard time finding the place. The sign is flat against the wall so from down the street it is impossible to see. Walked around in circles for almost an hour. None of the locals were helpful when we asked. They couldn't be bother or gave us the wrong directions. At the hotel, the front desk staff was not overly friendly specially considering that they immediately switched us to another hotel saying that they 'were overbook'. Ha! then why did they take my reservation?!? They put us over to the... more
Great Spot
Loved the Hotel, loved the location. Overall well priced This is the best hotel if you are travelling with a lot of luggage as it is only 100mtrs from the car rental drop off. Only disadvantage is that it is a bit of a walk to St Mark's Square. However i was prepared for a lot of walking. The room had a double bed and was beautifully decorated. Unfortunately our bar fridge was not working, however they were more than happy to provide us with some free ice. Most importantly the bathroom was fresh and clean. Shower was... more
You can find better
This was the third hotel that we stayed at while in Italy (4 total), and it was definitely the worst experience. We were in Venice for one night prior to departing on our cruise, and we chose the Olimpia because of its proximity to the crusie ports. We were in Venice for 2 nights after the cruise and stayed at Hotel Abbazia which we would recommend highly over Olimpia. If you want to read further, then be our guest, else check out Hotel Abbazia. We were arriving in Venice via train, and we followed the hotel's directions from the... more
Management response from hotelolimpia

Dear Guest, The Hotel is located few steps from Piazzale Roma (Bus and shuttle terminal), you can see the hotel from the square. The location is one of the EASIEST in Venice (especially coming by shuttle from the airport or cruiseship). Coming from the railway station you just have to go to "PIAZZALE ROMA" (10 MINUTES WALKING). After tho opening of the Calatrava Bridge (19th July) it will take 5 minutes and you will see the hotel descending the Bridge... About the rate, we remind that you booked a room in a Week End in very high season and in a peak day (cruiseship departure). You should find a cheaper rate choosing a "basic " room french-size bed.. In our hotel children are welcomed.. Thank you anyway for your review.. kind regards The Hotel Management

great hotel
We stayed at the olimpia for 1 night pre cruise and 1 night post cruise. The hotel was chosen mainly for its location to piazalle roma and the cruise terminal. The room we were given pre cruise was roomA1 on the gound floor overlooking the garden,it was quite small but well equipped. The room we got post cruise was room 403 and we liked this room much better,it waslarger and quiter. We arrived after an early flight from liverpool, but the hotel kept our luggage until the room was ready,so off we went to explore venice. We found a little bar... more
