Novotel Venezia Mestre Castellana Hotel

This hotel is in the Main land of Venice and it close enough to take the ferry, or train over to the "water" part of Venice. The hotel is pretty modern and has nice rooms. The balcony views are .. "so -so" but the beds are comfortable. Service is not the friendliest, but good luck finding that in Europe!!! I would recomment this hotel, since staying at the "water" part of venice is wayyyyyyy to expensive.

We stayed a the Novotel in mestre about 15 minutes away from Venice. This hotel is new and has a friendly staff . The rooms are well done and could accomodate 4 persons.The breakfast included with the room was great. We drove to venice the next day and parked at the central garage. Found this to be very convenient.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel in mid January while travelling/sightseeing with a hire car up from Rome. We chose this hotel primarily because it was close to the main road intersections and it had car parking. If you do not have a car to park, you may prefer to stay someplace nicer in venice itself. First, the good points about this hotel. Yes, it is close to Marco Polo Airport near Venice, and the receptionists were very friendly on check in, but that's where it ended. We were told that it would only take 5 minutes in the morning to get a taxi to come to the hotel to take us to the airport. Well, it took 5 minutes to wake the desk person up, then he couldn't find the phone number to call for a taxi. So, 30 minutes later, the taxi arrived. Nice… BUT… (wouldn’t stay here again) We stayed here for one night two days ago and the only time we got to use the free shuttle was on the journey from Piazza le Roma to the hotel itself (7pm - we were lucky as it wasn’t fully booked) We are very glad we did this as the hotel was very difficult to find with their directions (I emailed them first). Very excellent hotel. Room was modern and new. Very welcoming. Toilet was well equip. Had a towel warmer and while you are in there, you could hear the tv via speakers if you had it on. Looks like a new hotel. It had a pool and free internet access which was a plus (very uncommon in europe as they usually charge you an arm and a leg). However, they only have two available and apparently always break down. And the browser and settings are in Italian so as to test your memory at locating the buttons. Our family stayed here with two rooms for one night in June 2005 on a whirlwind tour of Italy. This hotel's rooms were the nicest of our entire trip and that is in the context that we only stayed at four star rated hotels in other cities. The room was extremely clean, very comfortable beds, very nice and functional furniture. The bathroom was also very modern and very clean. We had an exellent experience at this hotel in April of 2005. Our cruise ship came in and we had a day to spend in Venice prior to flying out early the next day. The hotel allowed us to check in early to drop off our bags and provided a free shuttle into Venice and back again. The rooms were extremely nice and very very comfortable. Probably one of the best beds I've slept in while traveling. The rooms were clean and modern, with a bathroom and shower/tub that was surprisingly large. Stayed with the family for 7 nights in Sep in this attractive new hotel. Only problem was the smoking and hotel taxi was expensive. If you need a taxi call a local taxi yourself. Other than that the rooms were superb and well appointed. The staff were friendly and spoke English fluently. They had a free shuttle which travels to P.Roma, Venice and returns at scheduled times, at no cost. Lots of space and free parking if you want to risk driving. Restaurant was typical Veneto food. My wife and I stayed at the Novotel for two nights during a two week COSMOS coach tour of Europe; the Novotel was the 'local' hotel for Venice, although it's probably 15 minutes drive to the Venice coach park/water taxi transfer. The hotel was the best on our tour - quiet and effective air conditioning, minibar with room to cool our own drinks/snacks, nice comfortable beds...only minor quibble was rather poor sound on some TV channels.
