Good Value Hotel Well Located
We found the Marconi to be good value in the Venice scheme of things. It is very handily situated by the Rialto Bridge. The reception staff are very helpful. Our room, although not lavish was clean and quite adequate, and had recently been fitted with a new bathroom. There was little or no view from our room, but so what! The very nature ot the buildings in Venice will mean that most hotel rooms have no views. The breakfasts were excellent with a continental style buffet as well as bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs. The hotel... more
NOT HERE!
The good news is that the location was great. The bad news... everything else. From the surly check-in person to the horror when we saw our room. This hotel virtually spoiled our entire trip. The room was in an alley that was very loud. They buzz anyone in from an alley buzzer which did not strike me as safe. The bed was old and sagged. The only other furniture in the room was a broken chair. The windows were covered in a faux stain glass so you could not see out of the windows...not that you would want the alley view anyway.<br... more
Warm and Welcoming
From the moment we stepped into Hotel Marconi, we knew we would be well taken care of. Our request to have a room on the ground floor was accommodated with delight. We were given suggestions for restaurants, concerts and "must see" sights of the city. The charm of this hotel and the friendly staff made our first stay in Venice a memorable one. The location is very central to everything. I highly recommend Hotel Marconi!
Decent hotel in great location
I had not read these reviews prior to booking the Marconi, otherwise I may have reconsidered out of fear of getting the cellar room! We stayed there for one night in December. I loved the location next to the Rialto bridge. Lively area. Our room was clean and spacious on the 3rd floor, but had no view. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, but the coffee was terrible. We left and had great cappuccinos on the way to the Piazza San Marco. We were not pressured excessively to partake in the boat ride to Murano, maybe... more
All Reviews of this Hotel on Tripadvisor are correct!
I read about this hotel on this site and read the one about the "dodgy" rooms by the breakfast rooms (Room #1 or #2). I thought to myself, "OK, what are the chances we'll get that room?". BINGO!!! It was a basically a cellar. Dark, tiny, depressing and noisy! Made me feel like I was living back in NY again!. We asked to be moved, and they told us that they could move us the next night - which they did graciously. The new room "107" was lovely. The best shower in Italy - hot with a lot of pressure. Location was great and breakfast was... more
Location, Location, Location!
I stayed at the Marconi for two nights for the long weekend of the Assumption. I had booked on Venere and gotten a very reasonable rate of 55 euros for a single. I enjoyed my stay and would return to the hotel. The room was a single, so I wasn't expecting a huge room. Adequate space, plus a full-size bathroom, very well-equipped. High ceilings with windows very high up on the walls (primarily to give some light since there is no view). Cable TV with satellite news channels to watch the news and the Olympics. Outside the hotel,... more
They Own 5 Hotels in Venice
On a tour of Italy we booked at the Marconi next to the RIALTO bridge for the first 2 nights of our Italian Trip. In the heat of the day arrived at the Hotel at 5:30pm. The location is ideal as it is opposite the River Bus stop and next to the RIALTO bridge. Catch River bus from the bus terminus (car park) 3 stops I believe and then simply walk across the Rialto Bridge to the hotel. However. We got to the hotel and the hotel manager greets us and informs us there is some good and bad news. The bad news, we have made an error and... more
The most splendid room in Venice
We stayed 5 nights at the hotel Marconi. First two nights in a 'standard' room. The last nights in a splendid room: '103', which has a very large balcony on the Canal Grande. This is a superb room, but only affordable during low season. The hotel is situated in an extraordinary place. It is located on one of the few walking lanes along the water in Venice. 50 meters from the Rialto bridge, it lies in the heart of a very lively neighboorhood with excellent connections to every part in Venice. The breakfast is very good.... more
Great location, basic service, some dodgy rooms
Stayed there for two nights over Easter. The lobby is lovely and the reception staff friendly. However the room we got on our first night was terrible, in the cellar basically and you had to walk through the breakfast bar to reach it which meant early mornings was very noisy, plus the only view you got was of a wall 2 metres away covered in graffiti. Thankfully they agreed to change rooms for the second night which was much better. Breakfasts were basic but good to set you up for the day, typical continental style. Only other gripe was... more
Great location, friendly staff
Just got back from my first visit to Venice and stayed at the Marconi Hotel. The location was excellent, right along the Grand Canal at the Rialto Bridge. The hotel is old and the furnishings a little dated, but the room was clean and the bathroom newly renovated. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good, with eggs, sausage, breads, cereals, yogurt, etc. I would definitely stay there again.
