Prior to a well planned visit to Venice in September I chose to stay at the Locanda Vivaldi following a lot of research. I stayed for 3 nights with a party of 9 friends and I cannot fault the hotel in anyway. I booked the hotel direct and contacted them by email; they... more

This beautiful little hotel was a real find. Fantastic attentive service from everyone and it even had it's own little bar/night club in a separate building. Only 5 minutes walk, if that, from St Mark's Square and with a fantastic view. Our room had a whirlpool bath and... more

High Priced & Noisy
The hotel it's self is lovely, however the location isn't very good. The hotel is just down from St. Marks Square and that sounds great, but when you look out the window, you are looking at boat taxis and ferries that are as tall as the second story window we were in. Also the noise from foot traffic was terrible. There are hoards of people dropped off from cruise ships and that whole area is a big tourist hang out. If you don't mind all the people & noise you'll do great. We had to sleep with the window open because the air conditioning wasn't turned on yet. I would highly suggest being on the other side of St. Marks Square. Less traffic and noise. Breakfast was great, but I feel I paid may too much for this hotel.
Excellent service, beautiful hotel
We returned from Venice three days ago after our first trip out there and we can highly recommend this beautiful hotel, a stones throw from San Marco Square and all the main attractions. Our room was smaller than I expected, but it was very clean and dressed to high standard. The breakfast area was large and the food on offer was plentiful and of a high standard with excellent service from all the staff in the hotel. Each afternoon, we received sweets and a weather forcast for the following day which was a great touch. The only down side to this wonderful place was the traffic noise from our window. We faced the canal with the Carabinerie right opposite. Each night around three thirty am, they do their rounds and around six thrity, seven the ferries begin the morning run. To be fair, we did expect traffic noise, after all, Vencie is a living city and if we didn't have boats it probably would have been cars and I now which I'd prefer to wake up to! All in all, a great place, great service and I would be more than willing to go back to Locanda Vivaldi.
Best Deal in Venice!
My husband and I stayed at Locanda Vivaldi during our honeymoon and loved it! There are speakers throughout the room so that you can listen to the radio. Our room overlooked the San Marco Basin which was absolutely beautiful. Better yet, the hotel was in an excellent location, only a few steps away from the Bridge of Sighs and 5 minute walk from the Piazza San Marco. My husband and I didn't use their concierge service, although I must say that they were not as accomodating as other hotels we stayed in Italy. Nonetheless, this hotel is excellent and I would definitely stay there again.
Great location, nice hotel, friendly staff
Spent 4 nights at Locanda Vivaldi in Nov.2003. The hotel has view facing the lagoon and its location is perfect, very close to St.Mark square. The room is quite spacious comparing to other Italian hotels. The hotel was just renovated so everything is quite in good condition and clean. The staff are friendly and efficient esp. the concierge. However, if they could improve or add more choices to their buffet breakfast, it will be much better!!
Wonderful Venetian Charm
I spent 4 nights at the Vivaldi in September with my partner and my parents. We had arranged for the hotel to send someone to meet us at the airport, and Tommaso was there right on time. He helped with the bags, got us to a boat, and we arrived right at the Locanda. Our rooms were exquisite, with panoramic views and beautiful decor. There was a slight problem with one of the TVs, but they got it fixed within 12 hours. I speak Italian, so I really can't comment on an earlier reviewer's complaints about the staff; all I can say is that I found them all charming and helpful. The only complaint, and that would be a small one, is that we were "set up" on a trip to Murano and Burano. The hotel arranged a boat for us to get there, and we were dropped off at a glass workshop/showroom with typically aggressive Italian salespeople. Many Euros later, we made our way to Burano and this time outfoxed the lace people. It's all very nice, but either bring your sales resistance or your wallet. Tommaso helped us get to the train station and came aboard to help with the bags. It was crowded and chaotic, and the train for Florence left with him on it! But, he rode with us to Mestere and made the best of it. I would stay here in a heartbeat over stuffier competition like the Danieli!
Better than Four Seasons
This place was one of the highlights of ur honeymoon. I will be sad when this gem is discovered in mass and it becomes even more difficult to book. The staff went far beyond the call of duty when we wanted to stay longer but they were booked. They coordinated a room for us and carried the bags. The room they set up was from a "high end hotel" that did not come close to comparing to our romatic room at the Vivaldi!
Everything We Hoped For
We chose this hotel based upon the reviews that we read on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. The hotel has a great setting over looking the lagoon and only 3 mins from St Marks Square. The rooms are not cheap but very much worth the extra money for the views alone. The style of the room was typical of Venice and not like the typical rooms that we have become used to generally in Europe, where there is no style at all.One of the reviews we read said that a waterfront room would be noisy, we found that by 10.30pm that the noise had died down and did not affect our ability to sleep in any way.We would strongly recommend this hotel which is also very convenient for waterbuses/taxis and all the main attractions of St Marks Square etc.
Wonderful family vacation
Family of 4, including 2 adults and 2 daughters (ages 19 and 13) Stayed in a very spacious suite, with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and private terrace. The room was located in an annex behind the main hotel. The room was large and very clean. Perfect location for touring Venice. Bathrooms were large and included jacuzzi style baths. Rooftop breakfast offered great view of Grand Canal. Staff was helpful and courteous. Very good option for families.
Loved this extremely romantic hotel
My husband and I started our 2-week Italian honeymoon at this lovely hotel. The location is right on the basin and within a short walk of everything that Venice has to offer. We loved the daily breakfast served on the outdoor terrace with a panoramic view of Venice--one of our favorite parts of the day! I recommend upgrading to a room with a view, facing the basin. Granted, you do have the horns from the water taxis blowing every 1/2 hour but you can easily tune it out. It stops at 11:00pm and resumes again at 6:00am. The hotel offers a complimentary launch to the island of Murano which I highly recommend. This hotel was the best hotel we stayed in while were in Italy and we will definently stay there again. Great hotel!!
Great Location and Beautiful Room
We spent the first 2 nights in Venice at this hotel. The room was beautiful and we had a great view. The best thing was that we didn't have to search around the back streets to find the hotel right when we landed so we appreciated it's great location. The breakfast was good and we were not charged extra for anything we ordered. The rooms were clean and the front desk was great with restaurant recommendations. You get what you pay for at this place. It was expensive, but we got great service, location and room.
