The Theofano is now shut, apparently it's being turned into a university along with the vast area of land between the Theo and the Aloe Hotel, me and my fiancée were unlucky enough to stay the week before the close, the staff were rude, short tempered, and some times pig ignorant, not only were the rooms filthy, the waiters were hard pushed to serve you, probably because they were losing their jobs! It's no shame this poorly run hotel is being shut.

We have recently spent a week at the Theofano hotel. We being myself, my husband and our two children aged 3 & 4. We had a fantastic week there and would go back tomorrow if we were able to do so. We found the staff friendly, particularly the waiters/waitresses in both of the restaurants. They were so good with our children and made us feel welcome and at ease.
The only down-side was that we constantly found ants in our room and the air con was pretty naff. However, I'm sure if we had informed reception of this we would have in fact been moved to the new block (which looked very nice)!
One night during the week, they set up the evening meal outside by the pool. This was so beautiful and really made it a special experience. We stayed in the old block on the ground floor. When walking out onto our balcony, we were literally right by the pool. The hotel itself is lovely, the reception area stunning and the pool "Top Marks!"
We booked the holiday as my best friend was getting married in Cyprus. Not only was the wedding amazing, but the entire holiday was also. With two young children, I admit I was a bit cautious about going abroad. I was worried that they may get bored, over tired etc I couldn't have been more wrong! They spent most of the holiday in the fantastic pool and myself and my hubby were more relaxed than we are in our very own humble abode!!!
If you are planning a holiday to Cyprus, a stay at the Theofano is well worth the money!

Theofano - The hotel is very very clean and the staff are very approachable. As previous reviews state the hotel has had a new block built which the majority over look the main pool. Although we stayed in the old block it was clean and there was no noise from other holiday makers of a night time.
The new block looked extremely nice and would book one of those rooms next time, as we will definitely return. There are two pool areas - the main pool which is big with a huge water fountain in the middle and the second is a smaller pool with a lot more shade, this pool was fairly quiet all day long. There were plenty of sun loungers however we got up at 9 am for breakfast and went and put our towels on a lounger as there were a quite a few getting reserved.
There is a pool bar at the side of the pool which sells food ice cream beer coffee, whatever really and there is small outdoor eating area next to the pool which is in the shade.
We only ate in the hotel on our first night but the food was good with a good choice, the breakfasts were excellent with a massive choice of continental breakfast.
There are around 12 restaurants within 2 minute walk from the hotel, all of these places are clean and the food is excellent.
The staff were approachable and booked our taxi for us for our 3 am departure to the airport. Overall an excellent holiday, my first time to Paphos and I will return. I just want to say there is building work going on around Paphos but it certainly isn’t a building site and don’t let it put you off. Top holiday.

I am pretty much going to agree with the other reviews here. Before we went though I decided after reading bad reviews to email the hotel and ask to be upgraded to the new block, which they kindly did with no fuss, but we had to pay 2 Cyprus pounds per day per person for this.
The hotel was clean, some staff were extremely friendly especially the breakfast staff.
I must say though whilst I discuss the staff I do agree with Dr Laidlaw, the receptionists didn’t look very approachable, and the waitresses/ers during the evening meal were a bit abrupt.
Especially the head waitress who takes your money for the drinks at the end of your meal. The hotel position is ok. A good walk into the harbour and it can be tiring on a hot day. And beware taxis do rip you off!
My overall gripe with this holiday was Paphos itself, not the hotel, I advise you all to take plenty of money as it is unbelievably expensive in Cyprus, and don’t go expecting Paphos to be picturesque as it is basically a building site, and not very pretty.
Other than that it was a good holiday, and would recommend the theofano.

Forget all the bad stuff you may have read in other reviews. A friend and I have just returned from a brilliant weeks holiday at the Theofano.
Food - really good - with a wide selection of choice (there was even a BBQ one night.)
Rooms - there are two blocks, old and new, we were initially allocated a room in the old block, which in our opinion was 3 star standard. However we had some problems with our air conditioning in our room and were moved immediately with little fuss to the new block.
Pools - there are two outdoor pools and one indoor all of which are clean and well kept. You have a choice of relaxing by the larger more family orientated newer pool or by the smaller pool where there is a lot more shade and less noise.
Staff - in the main very helpful (especially the catering team, who were very friendly.) The only complaint is some of the reception desk staff have a small attitude problem and seem to have no ability to use their discretion in making decision. However when we approached the manager any problems we had were dealt with in a friendly and swift manner.
Rep & excursions - We were not impressed with our rep, but felt that this was no reflection on the hotel. We found her to be unprofessional and full of the sales pitch. We went on the Jeep safari, which we did not enjoy as it was 9 hours in a car in the summer heat, a real tourist trail. If you are tempted to do the trip look for cheaper deals outside those presented by the reps.
The location is good and near all the local bars and restaurants - don't let the taxi drivers rip you off!
Overall we thought that this was a brilliant hotel and we would definitely return if we were going to Paphos again, even though the hotel entertainment was not that well advertised and was quite dated this didn't matter as there's plenty to do outside the hotel.

Great hotel. Plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meal was even better than 2 years ago when we went - it was pretty good then. Nice location with a pleasant 15 minute walk to Paphos harbour, plenty of bars/cafe and restaurants around hotel, suited us fine. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Could do with some more sun loungers due to a combination of people 'reserving' them and probably not enough, especially in peak season.
Hotel is in 2 halves - stayed in both. Yes the new half is nicer but we didn't go on holiday to stay in room.
We would go again and the Theofano is definitely on our list for a bit of early season sunshine.

Booked this holiday 30 hours before travel, it was allocated on arrival, didn’t mind too much as it was a Thomson 3* hotel.
When we arrived at the airport we were told we were at the Theofano in Paphos, this was a lovely clean hotel, friendly staff, spacious grounds and convenient for local buses.
We were able to change our room with no problem, the only downfall was the evening meal, chicken drumsticks and lamb chop bits most nights was too much. Would go again but without the half board option.

Read comments that people had left before we wet and were very worried about staying in the Hotel. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were great air-conditioned and the breakfasts were totally acceptable. A bit repetitive but no more than any other hotel.
Area was delightful with many good local bars. Nature bar was our favourite infact we got engaged there. Staff very helpful. Entertainment in hotel nothing to rave about but okay, Swimming pool area great. Sometimes difficulty to get a sun bed but there’s a lovely small beach just across the road with a small shop/bar that was brilliant.
Don’t believe everything you read, we were going to cancel the holiday after the reports we read and so glad we didn’t. had a fantastic holiday and would go back to the hotel again. Going back to Cyprus this year but staying in a private villa as lots of us are going.
By the way we went with First Choice Holiday who were simply the best . Great service and holiday reps at the resort.
