The Avanti Village apartments are lovely clean and well equipped. the pool is fantastic, the largest we have been to. Our two daughters aged 9 & 13 spent loads of time in it. It is in a quite part of Paphos but the crocodile bar is a must as the staff are so friendly and it is just round the corner. The only thing that stops me giving it 10 is the entertainment at night. There isn't really any. But you can use the sister hotel which has entertainment nightly but we didn't bother. Great place would go back.

We like a lot of other people there were there for a wedding at the nearby Amathus Beach Hotel. The apartment was a good size and as mentioned on last review the beds are massive. Cleaners there nearly every day and cleaned up beds and changed towels on regular basis. The site is a bit of a maze but soon get used to it and it doesnt feel too big. The path ways are covered in every sort of herb bush and lime trees which made it nice sitting out on the balcony with the ants and lizzards.
This part of Paphos was a lot quieter than the main harbour area which I went to once then avoided like the plague as it was just full of junk shops and rip off resaurants. Just outside the complex are a few places to eat which were cheper and quieter - The Ribshack and Uncle Sams I found to be the best. I should have found a better supermarket as the closest ones were very expensive but thats to be expected in an area like this. All we needed was fresh bread for lunch every day and the cheap local beer Keo.
The main reason I would go back though is the terrific weather and great snorkelling at the beach. The nearby waterpark is also great fun. A perfect resort for a family holiday.
Great holiday for my wife and me...

Great holiday for my wife and me together with two teenage daughters - accomodation was clean and tidy and main bedroom was spacious with biggest bed in the world - pool is obvious attraction however you do need to get towels onto sunbeds before 9.00am if you want good location and a parasol.
Local restaurants are good and reasonably priced and food is genrally good to excellent especially the Ribshack and the Sole provider if you like fish - please AVOID fiesta bar - food is either frozen or poorly cooked or both and is expensive for what you get and customer service is non existent- if you like football and all that goes with the game then its the place for you - if you dont avoid like the plague - too many tatoos earings and football shirts for me - like a bad day out in manchester
avanti village great fun, great for kids, felt safe and secure highly recommended

I've just returned from my holiday with my parents and sister from the Avanti Village resort. It was an awesum holiday and I would definatley return. The resort is just oustide the centre of Paphos so is quiet enough at night and during the day but a very short bus/taxi journey from the habour where there are a wide choice of restaurants and shops. I wasn't expecting much of a night life despite hearing of 'bar street' where the main bars are down the harbor. After meeting mates through an amasing day of quad biking, I joined them on an organised pub crawl, until I drank too much it was really good. I met loads of randoms and there are lots of bars and clubs door to door with great atmospheres.
The only downfall was the local bar to the village, the crocodile bar, the service was really poor and when we questioned them for overcharging us for the second night that week the bar staff kicked off and got very aggressive. Apart from the crocodile bar all the other restuarants and bars we visited had a great atmosphere.
We went the week before the summer holidays so there wasn't too many kids aswell.
It was the best holiday i've been on in the past few years and would definatley return although would go with my girlfriend next time.

Great self catering apartments- really well equipped & a good position! There's loads of family friendly bars / restaurants nearby- our favourite was the Fiesta bar- on the backdoor of the apartments & it was a great place to eat & drink- really good Kid's play area too!
We visited Cyprus for a wedding as a big group so didn't really explore Paphos much but we spent most of our time at the Avanti & it met all our needs. The swim up bar was a particular favourite place throughout the day & the Kid's loved the lazy river pool.
Well recommended for families, groups or anyone. Prices perhaps a bit more expensive than we'd like but still it was a great place to stay & we'd definitlely go back!

My family consisting of two adults and three children stayed at the avanti during the may school holidays and would certainly return to these apartments if we come to cyprus again. I could not fault it. The apartments were very big and clean. We were in c block which was ideal as we werent to close to the bar and pool so it was very peaceful, yet it was only a three minute walk there. Beware the giant ANTS, i,ve never seen any so large. Take the No. 11 bus to the market and harbour and N0.15 to harbour and Coral Bay, beach is much nicer in Coral Bay but bus journey takes about 45 minutes. Buses cost same amount wherever you travel. Visit the Tomb of the Kings.
Cost roughly 10 euros for five of us, the kids loved it. Went to Bird and Animal Park. You need to get twoo buses here so we haggled with a taxi and got it for twenty euros, not bad for nearly an hours drive away. Went up troodos mountains, which was nice, be careful who you go with on the excusions as some of them see you coming. Stevies Co. quoted us £250 euros for 2 adult, 1 teenager, 1 toddler and baby. Horizon Travel charged us £130.00 so BEWARE. Went to Aphrodites rock which was really good. Avoid the market on Wed and Sun as it is closed. The cypriots were really polite and welcoming and were really good with our children. Lot more friendlier than the English.
Dont leave anything outside apartments as we got a pair of swim shorts nicked. It is very expensive to eat out. Best places to eat has to be RIBSHACK, food is outstanding and staff are great, Fiesta great if youve got kids as it has loads of toy bikes and cars and a play climb frame, Hot Cup Cafe great chocolate milkshakes, Da Vincis, nice meals and coctails but service a bit slow, and our baby kept getting restless. Tried getting in Chloes but they bluffed us of saying it was overcrowded, even though there were plenty of empty tables, I dont think they wanted the baby in as she was toddling around, seemed UNCHILD FRIENDLY. Went on a Glass Bottom Boat which was good. In the Animal Park you can stroke and feed girraffes which was a good experience and hold snakes and parrotts. All in all had a fantastic holiday.

Hi I have stayed at advanti village apts and loved it everybody was helpful myself and my family only went out to the complex at night and it was great even although it was quiet we seen that as an advantage to a great relaxing holiday.
The rooms were spotless and the maids were very kind and helpful, i also got married in pafos townhall and we are going to live and set up a business in pafos in 2010 so i highly recommend it to anyone especially with kids.

My boyfriend and I travelled to Cyprus for the first time in June and after having read some of these reviews were slightly sceptical about what to expect but were pleasantly suprised.
The resort was lovely, with beautifully decorated walkways between the appartments and the pool area was fab. The main pool was really big and great for cooling off after sunbathing and the lazy river proved to be very popular too.
The appartment was very spacious for the two of us although we found the kitchen to be fairy small in comparison and lacked some basic utensils which was unreasonable for a self catering appartment.
We stayed at Avanti village on a bed and breakfast basis which worked fine for the week we were there. The breakfast was served at the poolside and was of reasonable quality, if a bit repetitive although the fresh fruit was lovely.
We did not try the restaurant at the hotel as always seemed to be empty and so half of our time we cooked in the appartment and the rest of the time we ate out in local restaurants.
The poolside bar was fab if you fancied cooling off with a pint or a fancy cocktail with your legs in the water- just watch as its fairly expensive!!
The hotel shop is pricy and so i would sugget getting the number 5 bus to the supermarket past the old town which was a lot more reasonably priced and had a larger variety by far.
Nightlife at the village was non exsistant and the resort was usually empty by 10pm.
There are a few "games" around the reception are but was more like an arcade and would not fill an evening.
Paphos as a town was average. The "beach" was a five minute walk away but this was a not a sandy beach and so I would recommend getting the bus to Coral bay which costs only £1 and is a much nicer place to go, if a little busy at times.
Avanti village is one of the furthest resorts from the harbour and took us about 40 mins to walk to the harbour. It was however an enoyable walk as there is lots to see on the way although I would not recommend the walk before around 3pm as it can get very hot and is quite exposed.
There are a couple of restaurants/bars closer to the resort-our favourite was the Black Rose which is just a short walk away. This place had a great atmosphere with friendly staff and really great cocktails at a very low price compared to many other places in Paphos.
We took a little walk down one of the side-streets teeming with life from bars and pubs. Beware of the VERY pushy ENGLISH owners trying to herd you into their bars with offers of free drinks - a polite no is sometimes not enough - be firm! That is not the same with the local places though.
The restaurants in the harbour town are very mixed and you definatly get what you pay for. One night we went for a cheap set menu deal (around £8 for a 3 course meal) but were not very impressed with the food or the service. The next time we went to a more traditional taverna style restaurant where we ate meze which we would really recommend and although slightly more pricey, it is definatly worth the money. The service was fantastic too.
There is plenty to do in the Paphos area and the busses are fab-only £1 for trips all around the area and the bus stop is just a 5 minute walk away from Avanti.
Watch out for taxis which will beep at you whenever they drive past-they are expensive and the bus is just as quick!! We did have to use a taxi to go to and from the airport and this cost us about £30 each way.
The market in the old town runs on a Saturday morning and is worth a visit-it is located on a hill overlooking Paphos and offers a brilliant view of the harbour-and the market stalls are good too-dont be afraid to haggle!
We took the bus to a wildlife park one day and it was fantastic!! Get the number 5 bus to coral bay and then change there. The entry fee was very reasonable and the park was located in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea. The park is further away from Paphos centre but this proved to be an advantage as it was fairly empty (this was in June) and so we were able to wander around in peace and even managed to ride a camel and hold a snake!!! The food here is reasonably priced also!!
Before going to Paphos we had read that the Tomb of the Kings was a must. This again is a 30min bus ride away. There is a minimal entry fee and then you are free to wander around as you like. The first tomb we saw was fairly interesting but all of the others were very similar. Also beware of the heat as the area is very exposed with no shade. There is little else in this area and no cafes etc so be sure to take plenty of sunscreen and water!
Overall a very enjoyable holiday-Avanti was nice but we only used it as a base and little more, the people are friendly if a little pushy and serivce is generally good. The main downside was the very high prices of everything in Cyprus!
Would like to visit again but mostly to return to the Black Rose for a tasty cocktsil!! and would also try to hire a car in order to visit more fo the Island!

We found the apartment clean and spacious with excellent air conditioning in the lounge and the bedroom.
Our 2 children loved the pool and activities put on for them and adults in the day. In the evening the entertainment was poor.
The food was ok but not half as nice as in the local restaurants (of which there are many). The cost of food and drink is higher than the usual Greek islands more like UK prices.
We found a wonderful little cove with a gorgeous sandy beach which was ideal for snorkelling and watersports.
We were there for 2 weeks but all felt very sad to leave. We would definitely go there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the village, it was what we expected it to be. The kids loved the large pool and I loved the fact that the bathroom was of good standard as normally bathrooms are a big let down.
My only complaint is that we had an attempted intruder on the first night, while we were in bed, and the manager was very dismissal of this, I was later told by several holiday makers that someone was removing ladies washing off the balconys, this was again reported to the managers who insisted there wasn't a problem.
Overall good holiday resort, but just be on the lookout during evenings.

No complaints here! Room was basic but all you need when you are away. Complex is rather big but you can't really get lost, you may walk round in circles a few times though till you find your feet! Fresh towels every day and maid service apart from on a Monday and Thursday when only bins get emptied. Pool very big and plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and free towels from reception if you asked for them. Reception staff helpful with any queries we had.
There is a wide variety of restaurants and a few bars just outside the complex which I have no complaints about, but if you're looking to spend the whole night out head towards the harbour where there is more nightlife. Can't comment on complex entertainment as never in the complex at night but did get a few flyers left by the cleaner about what was on.
Just across the road there is a beach which is ideal for watersports, you can hire sunbeds but if you are just going to sunbath you are as well staying at the pool.

We have just returned from a 3 week holiday to Cyprus, this was our 3rd visit to the island but our first visit to Avanti Village.
We arrived at our apartments at 7.30 Cyprus time and had to wait for a porter to take us to our apartment, which took about half hour as there is only one porter. And the reception staff wasn’t too friendly, the apartment itself was very nice spacious and clean.
Or so I thought until further on in the holiday when I watched the staff clean it, they only used water to mop the floor no cleaner, washing up liquid to clean toilet and I’m sure they used my daughters flannel to clean bathroom, which I threw away and made sure I didn’t leave one lying about again, as they didn’t take no cloth in there with them.
The pool was nice with lazy river and kiddie pool and big pool, the pool bar was nice and clean, busy in the day but absolutely dead of a night with a so called dj who just sits there snogging his missus while playing a cd!
We found a lovely beach which is a 5 min walk over the road with a lovely little bay there it doesn’t get to busy there so it is great if you’ve got small children and want to relax, I’ve got 3 children 1,2,and 7 and they absolutely loved it. It is a good 30min walk to harbour from apartments.
There is a good little supermarket which is a 5min walk from the apartments up the main road where they bake fresh bread and is quite cheap.
The fiesta bar is one place to definitely avoid, the food isn’t very nice and the manners of the staff is quite appalling they don’t smile or make you feel welcome at all.
There are some lovely places to eat out down the harbour like Chloe’s Chinese restaurant and a place next to the taxi rank overlooking the sea, I forgot what it’s called, Paphinia is a nice little place to have a drink it is next to pizza express, the rib shack(by the apartment) is a lovely place to eat and the food was spectacular, bar street is great for a more lively night with loads of free drinks offers always on,
Will definitely go back again but not sure I would choose Avanti it was a bit of a letdown!

We thoroughly enjoyed the resort of Paphos and would definitely go back to Cyprus again.
We feel that although the Avanti Village had a beautiful fascia and reception area the overall rating for this accommodation should be a 3 star not a 4.
The apartments were spacious inside and well equipped but what spoilt them was how packed together the blocks of apartments were. There was no privacy whatsoever as the view from every window was either a bare wall or you could see directly into the apartment opposite - the curtains had to be kept closed all of the time.
Overall I would say the that The Avanti Village was in a good location and for a family with children it has good swimming pools, daytime activities.

Our general impression of this accommodation and its surroundings were 'dirty'. It lacked self catering utensils and although only 3 years ol.
We had faulty air conditioning that was reported on several occasions, and was never repaired. We also had a blocked drain in the bath - this was repaired but the bathroom was left in a filthy state.
The apartment floor was not cleaned or brushed for almost a week, and a rat was spotted along with droppings in several places.
This is not 4 star accommodation.

We have just returned from the Avanti Village and cannot understand why it is getting such bad reviews. Our apartment was spotless and was cleaned everyday. We got clean towels everyday and the bedding was changed every third day.
There was entertainment every evening and throughout the day- archery, water aerobics water polo etc. The reception staff were very friendly, apparently there was a problem with one girl earlier in the season but she was dismissed after complaints were made.
The "village taverna" was open from early in the mornings, providing breakfasts and lunches and stayed open till late at night.
The gym facilities and indoor pool were excellent as was the outside pool.
Free pool towels are provided at reception everyday and can be changed as many times as you like.
On arrival we were offered a porter to take us to our room but as it was daytime we choose to find it ourself. The nearest "beach" is a 5 minute walk across the road. Granted it is not a sandy beach. But nevertheless it is a beach. If possible try to get in blocks A or B as these are nearest the pool, reception etc.
