We stayed at the Duodo Palace in November 2007 for two nights on B&B basis. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Location, only a 10 minute walk from St Marks Square, right by the canal, so convenient should you choose to book a taxi.
The room we had (501) was right at the top so had stunning views of the rooftops of Venice, overlooking St Marks and the Opera house. Spacious and very comfortable, the bathroom was also a good size, and everything was clean and well kept.
The staff could not have done more to help, they seemed to speak every language under the sun, and helped us navigate around the city with extra maps.
If you get to stay here, fantastic, I would love to stay there again myself.

The Hotel is in a great location and the room we had was excellent - it had a Fenice carving on the wall.
Overall the hotel was very efficient, but our one complaint was that the included breakfast was not very substantial and supplements were charged if guests wanted to improve on it (few did). That is fairly common in Venice, but on the Lido, the hotel provided a very good breakfast, which is why we tried there when the Duodo Palace was fully booked.
If they provided better breakfasts, I'd have given the place an even higher mark - as it was, I still tried to book into there on a subsequent visit.
I'm not particularly confident that it was expedia who we used, but when it has not been them, we have used Citalia and not had any problems with either.
