Mixed Reviews
We just returned from our honeymoon in Italy, which ended with four days in Venice at the Casa Nicolo. The first thing to note is that it is a very hard place to find, even if you get directions or have a map. We walked around it for a half an hour dragging our luggage, there is absolutely no signage for this place. I had mixed feelings about our stay at Casa Nicolo (while there we noticed they seemed to have dropped the Priuli part of the name). On one hand we were in a great part of Venice and everything was clean and very pretty, but on... more
Roomy Romantic Room at a Reasonable Rate
We recently returned from a three week trip to Italy with our last five days in Venezia. We selected the Casa Nicolo Priuli because it was centrally located, and offered non-smoking rooms at a reasonable rate. Based on the pictures I saw on their website, I had imagined the rooms to have this 16th century rennaissance feel to it and we were not dissappointed! Though the hotel was a bit difficult to find, we felt right at home when we finally got there. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet and nicely appointed with not only a canal... more
Great location, super value.
We found this hotel to be in a great location just 5mins walk behind the Basillica San Marco. We were put into the annexe which was great, very clean, lovely and cool with the air conditioning, comfortable bed, and a superb bathroom. There was nothing we could recommend to improve the room. We paid 145 euros, which included breakfast. I can recommend this hotel to anybody. I would certainly return.
One Night in Venice
We visited Italy for two weeks in May, 2006 and had planned to spend a night in Venice to celebrate our anniversary. Deciding where to stay was a challenge - we wanted the night in Venice to be memorable - it was memorable but for the wrong reasons. We made our hotel reservations in January and reserved two deluxe canal view rooms to accomodate our family of 5. We confirmed our reservation prior to leaving the US but had been travelling in Italy for a week prior to our arrival in Venice. When we reached the hotel the clerk stated that... more
Good location but pricey!
Beautifully presented and just 3 minutes from venice's main sqaure, san Marco. BUT the fact it is an old converted palace means the marble floors are lovely to look at but can be noisy at night, especially if you are near the main stairwell like we were. Air conditioning units are great during the day but again, marble floors mean they rattle and vibrate at night.
Great Location
We recently returned from Venice and had a great stay with our family. We had 3 rooms, but let me clarify the various names. There is a main hotel with the front desk in the lobby (Palazio?), an annex perhaps 50 meters down (Casa?), and a second annex next door to that, but only the top 1 or 2 floors (Ca'?). Two of our rooms were in the first annex and were excellent - nice furnishings, baths, etc. The third was in the second annex on the 4th floor. This room did not have very good air conditioning which is essential in July, and was... more
A Nice Hotel, but would not return
Our family of 4 (kids ages 12 & 15) stayed at the Casa Nicolo Priuli for 3 nights in July and had a nice stay... the location was great (near St. Marks), but I wish we had a room in the main Palazzo, as it is much more luxurious than the Casa. Our deluxe quad. was roomy for 4 and did have a canal view as advertised, but I guess I had a vision of a room more similar to the photos on their website. Breakfast was good, there was a nice little bar across the canal to have a late night drink, and the room was clean. However, our stay was... more
Excellant location, Fanastic room
We found the hotel a little difficult to find, when we first landed due to the sign outside being different from the Casa Nicolo Priulli, The sign actually reads Palazzo Priulli, However the locals were incredibly helpful and set us right. The staff are very helpful and attententive, they offer a free boat ride to a Murano glass works, and will collect you should you choose to go. The room was fantastic very large and air conditioned, The breakfast wasn't great as it was only continental and they expect you to make toast with a sandwich... more
Great People, Great Location, Lovely Room
We stayed here for four nights starting January 25th and had a fantastic time. Not sure if we stayed in the same place as the previous reviewer! There was definately no roof terrace and breakfast was in our hotel in what had the feel of a conservatory- there was plenty there from the buffet. The bedroom was very spacious with antique furniture with lovely clean bathroom (with bath and overhead shower). Even though it was freezing outside it was warm in the room. The staff were great - both reception and waiters very friendly and helpful. If... more
Over-priced for what you get – it's NOT the Palazzo.
We looked this hotel up on the web and all the information pointed to the Hotel Palazzo Priuli, including the Hotel’s own website, which is a bit misleading as you’re actually booking a room in the nearby annexe. There are no photos on the Hotel’s website for rooms in the annexe which are apparently not as sumptuous as the main hotel. That said however, the Casa Nicolo' Priuli was a nice place to stay for three nights. The location is excellent for Saint Mark’s Square and the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop, which makes getting to the... more
