Very impressed
Our room was HUGE for European standards. Very clean and romantic. Had all of the amenities we needed and more!: A/C, hairdryer, internet access downstairs in lobby, refrigerator in the room. Located in quiet area. A few minutes walk to St. Mark's Square. Receptionists were friendly and spoke English. Free continental breakfast every morning. Staff was friendly.
Small, intimate and recommended
Small and friendly hotel set back from the main thoroughfares (bit hard to find at first) but all the better for it. The staff are friendly and the hotel clean, the only downside is the lack of facilities for making hot drinks. I would stay there again as it is well situated for the Rialto Bridge area and St Marks, both good link locations for getting elsewhere.
Perfect retreat from the crowds
A little difficult to find but I think that is part of the Character of Venice with all its little tucked away alley's and dead ends. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the hotel reception staff were very helpful. Would definately stay there again if I am to return to Venice Great location, close to Rialto and St Marks Square but not on a main street so it was relatively quiet.
poor canaletto
Just returned from four days in beautiful Venice. Second visit and even more lovely than ever. Very busy but lovely weather but the hotel was a bit disappointing. The staff were friendly but the room was tiny and the shower and loo were clean but did smell all the time (nothing to do with me either). I was quite badly bitten by mosquitoes and even one on my eyelid. There was no room service of any kind and no way of making a hot drink in the room. I would not stay at this hotel again. It is well located for everything but is not what I would... more
Great room, great price
Stayed as part of a budget package, and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the back-street location. Very quaint, very traditional and very quiet. Clean rooms, good food (and lots of it) and the staff were extremely helpful. Would go back again any time.
Lovely hotel in a good central location
Although hard to find at first the hotel is in an ideal location just minutes from Rialto and San Marco. In a quiet side alley with a small restaurant next door. The rooms were clean and well decorated. The buffet breakfast was good as was the coffee. Overall a good value hotel in an otherwise expensive city. I would definately recommend it.
Hard to Find but clean and comfortable and close to everything
We stayed at the Canaletto for 3 nights. The rooms were clean and decorated in a traditional venetian style. The staff at the reception were friendly and helpful with recommendations on good places to eat and what to see around Venice. The Rialto bridge, and St Marks Basilica are only a 5 minute walk away. The Rialto side of Venice is THE place to shop and there a many restaurants and shops scattered around near the Canaletto. The Breakfast was very adequate with real Italian coffee served whichever way you like it! The only thing... more
Loved it - made our stay @ Venice fabulous
We were upgraded to a Jr. Suite with the bed in a loft area above the sitting room. The room was fabulous with a lovely view of the canal (garbage boat did wake us in the morning, but it was fine). This hotel/room alone made our Venice stay one of the most memorable for the entire Italy trip. Bathroom and shower were unusually large. Staff was warm and hospitable. The location is great - close to everything but in a side street with less traffic. Basically, the time at Hotel Canaletto spoiled us rotten and none of the other hotels came close.
wonderful hotel
it was a great hotel, we stayed on the first floor in a room with a private bath, the windows are dual pane which kept the noise out and the location is extremely central to rialto and san marco square. they have a great breakfast serving the best latte's we had on our stay in the country. the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. venice being touristy and expensive i thought this was a great find. they also offer free internet service which is really wonderful. very clean, very nice.
AWFUL, THE WORST PLACE I EVER STAYED AT
First of all, this is NOT a hotel, this is a pension at the most. It is dirty, run down, smelly, and grotty-old. I was extremely disappointed with this place, I booked it after the reviews I read here with the idea of something cheap but decent... Well, I was quite disgusted. Our room had a lock like the one my wardrobe has. The shower flooded over and we had to throw all of the towels on the floor to get out of the bahroom. In general, I am sorry for the Canaletto, since the people on the front desk (which looked like students) were Ok,... more
