Flew with Easyjet- very good. We bought speedy boarding tickets so had a good choice of seating. Arrived in Venice at 9.30pm - bought bus tickets at airport for the blue Atvo line which cost 3 euros each. The bus (which is just outside airport) took 30 mins to get to bus station, then a 5 mins walk to hotel. However, it took us 1 hour to find it thanks to a very nice Italian gentleman who walked us to it and did not speak a word of English.
Very nice hotel, English speaking reception, air con - thank lord as temp very hot . We went to Venice to celebrate my 50 and was not disappointed we found it not expensive. Especially when you think what we pay over here for meals out. It was about the same for our meals in the evening with drinks was 50 euros the best restaurant was SAN TROVASO BY THE ACCADAMINA BRIDGE down a dead end street it was very good value.
All and all a fantastic 3 days but be prepared for sore feet .

Venice is a wonderful place and must be visited at least once in a lifetime - though if you go once, you're bound to want to go back again and again. Our long weekend got off to a very poor start thanks to British Airways.
Our plane was delayed due to a fault, which meant that we missed our connection and ended up spending over 16 hours flying Glasgow to Manchester to Catwick to Venice. Effectively we lost a full day, which is a lot when you are there just for the weekend. However, when we did finally get there (at 11pm - having got up at 4am!) It was amazing. There's lots for everyone.
Our kids (8 and 12) enjoyed the water and the gondolas, while we marvelled at the amazing architecture. Shopping is super, and food is fab. Ideally you need three or fours days to do the key things - longer if you want to explore the many palazzi. Go there!!!
