Great views, thats about it
Myself, partner and children aged 9 and 5 stayed here for two weeks. When we arrived at lunchtime we were told we could eat in the restaurant or pool snack bar. The restaurant was in fact closed and so was the pool bar! On the hunt for food we found a kind staff member who showed us to some stale bread with ham and cheese? That was the choice. We decided to go to our room which turned out to be mouldy. We got talking to some other families, all of whom had been allocated room 426 (or should that be 101) initially, all of whom had complained and moved! We finally got a lovely sea view room, little storage though. Over the fortnight things did improve slightly but this was due to the regular barrage of complaints the Manager had each day. Food - okay, little choice but we did not starve. Entertainment - ok. Johanna on the pool bar - Fab. Location - beautiful. This hotel has a lot to do to even manage a satisfactory scoring. Good luck in the height of Summer if you are going here!
Very very disappointed!!
My partner and i stayed at the Bahia Vista in August. Having booked our first holiday with Thomas Cook, we had high hopes for this one, how wrong we would be! We booked all inclusive for one week. Firstly you couldnt find a seat or a fork in the buffet hall and i can honestly say the food was awful, there was hardly any choice, we had to live on salad, rice and chips. Also the situation with the sunbeds was beyond ridiculous, you had to get up at about 6 am to get one or sit on chairs for the whole day. The staff at the hotel were not much better, they were either really miserable or didnt speak any english! The evening entertainment was a joke, you couldnt get a seat outside so you would have to listen from inside which we found really disappointing. The views from the hotel were breathtaking and some of the best i have ever seen, but unfortunately we paid extra for a sea view room which i did not get (thomas cook did refund me for this after much delay). Our Thomas Cook rep lovely and very helpful. On the whole i was very disappointed with the hotel and would not recommend anyone to go there. But i would recommend Ibiza as it is a beautiful island and it is a shame the hotel nearly spoilt our holiday.
sunset paradise
Myself, partner, two kids and parents stayed for a week at the Club Vista Bahia from 7th August 2007. Before we went we read some bad reviews so were worried. We even considered changing hotels, but we were all glad we didn't. Although there are a few little problems, overall it was a great holiday at a lovely complex set in a wonderful location with stunning views. It is true that the site is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, as there are many hills and steps. But we found them worth it, especially every night we watched the sunsets. The setting is a little remote, but it's only a 10-15 minute walk to Portinax itself, where there is a lovely beach, waterpark, a few bars and shops. Some reviews moaned about rude staff. This is absolutely not true. We arrived at the hotel at 1am to be greeted by a smiling cheerful reception staff member, who took care of the relevant paperwork while we were shown to the dining room where food and drink were waiting for us. The bar staff were always cheerful and friendly, despite often being a bit under pressure (as there could've done with being a few more of them!.) The kids entertainers were ALWAYS smiling!. There were also bad reviews about the cleanliness of the complex. The rooms were clean, daily maid service and fresh towels, and the pool area would have been much cleaner if there wasn't so many lazy people not bothering to pick up after themselves and put their litter in one of the many bins provided. The food was lovely and plentiful, with a carvery several times a week. It must be said though that if you didn't get in at the start of meal times, you sometimes had to wait for a dish to be restocked, and at the end some dishes on occassion ran out. We didn't pay much for our holiday, and it was worth every penny. There is a 'towel situation' with the sunbeds by the pool, and i must admit that in the end we had a 'if you can't beat them, join them' attitude! I wasn't too surprised though as i heard this is the the first year that its been open to Brits to stay here. Previously it has been very much a German, Spanish, Russian etc., hotel, and there was many of them staying there, and we all know what early risers they are! The one thing we all agreed would greatly improve the hotel is more staff! Quite often there would be queues for the bar (as well as the food at the buffet). But overall (providing you don't pay too much for the holiday) it is a really great 'average' holiday. If you go not expecting it to be great, you'll have a wonderful time!
Sun bed nightmare
The views from the hotel are second to none having lovely sunsets. The hotel is situated about 20 mins from the beach, but you can access the sea from the nearby rocks. The sun bed situation is a nightmare. We went down for breakfast at 8 passing the pool area and all the sun beds were taken, well taken up by towels, people even put their towels on beds on rainy days, unbelievable. Our room was clean but we had to change our own bed linen and towels, we even had to lay our own table for evening meal. Lunchtime is a complete joke, no tables to be had. We decided to give it a miss and opted for the packed lunch option. As for cakes and coffee through the day, we saw no cakes. This hotel has the potential to be extra special but needs more staff and better organisation
So Near Yet So Far
Have just returned from 1 weeks stay at this hotel, having booked fairly last minute. The main reason for going was a weeks R&R but not wanting to spend a fortune! The Vista Bahia seemed to fulfill all our criteria being and having looked at as many sites as possible, such as this one, decided that despite the mixed reviews it was worth trying for 1 week. I want to try and be as objective as possible with this review and will list various aspects of the stay below. First impressions were not good. We were greeted on arrival by a holiday maker with a gashed foot from a broken tile in the pool! ROOM We were given a room near the top of the hill (rooms are built on a hillside) and I certainly couldn't recommend this hotel for anyone with walking difficulties. The room itself was basic and small, it appeared to be a twin room with an extra bed added and this led to fairly cramped conditions though it did benefit from aircon and a ceiling fan. I would also have to question the cleanliness of the hotel as our room wasn't cleaned for 2 days out of 7. SUNBEDS There are not enough sunbeds available and certainly not enough to cater for a full hotel. To ensure a bed for the day I would say you have to be up before 7.00 AM with your towels to claim a spot. FOOD As you would expect for a budget hotel the approach to food was very much Chips with everything. There is basically 3 choices of fish / meat for evening meal and the layout of the restaurant leads to a bottleneck with long queues waiting for food, very much like queueing at a motorway service station after 2 coachloads have just arrived. This was exacerbated by food running out constantly leaving diners to wait around for fresh to be produced. The self service point for drinks also could be better. At several points throughout the week 1 or more of the drinks ran out leaving a limited choice. In fact the rose wine was out for most of the week as they were waiting for a delivery. The overall dining experience wasn't enhanced with tables being covered with paper table cloth's and cutlery positioned to one side so in effect guests had to lay their own tables. ENTERTAINMENT Quite simply disasterous. Can only think of one night where I felt it was entertaining. The kids disco, whilst enjoyed by the kids, didn't start until 9.30pm with nothing for the children to do before it started. Felt that was a long time for the children to wait around. Again there is a definite shortage of tables and chairs around the stage area meaning some families were eating in shifts so they could lay claim to a table for the evening. POOLS After our initial encounted with the bleeding foot was a bit apprehensive about how the pools would be but was pleasantly surprised. All 3 were great for children. BEACH Whilst the hotel is situated in a great location there is no beach at all. The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk away in Portinatx and was excellent. There is a lifeguard on duty at all times and they were very alert, stopping swimmers on one day because of an influx of jellyfish. HOTEL LOCATION Quite simply outstanding. Great views with a fantastic sunset. Towards the end of our stay the hotel did seem to be trying to make some improvements. We noticed a few new sunbeds, and for the last couple of days the restaurant had cloth tablecloth's and napkins with glasses on the table rather the the plastic cups that was the norm. They also introduced a small kids corner with nuggets, sausage etc. Overall despite the negatives we had an enjoyable week and overall we feel it probably was value for money.
the sunbed nightmare !!!
Overall the hotel was ok, however the sunbed situation was ridiculous (get to the pool before 0630) as was the fiasco at meal times, and also the availability of tables for the evening entertainment They need to concentrate on adding extra beds and tables with chairs for the outside area The restaurant provided a wide selection of quality food, but the replenishment of items was at times slow, this coupled with the large numbers of guests all trying to serve themselves at the same time resulted in nothing less than mayhem. In general the hotel staff were pleasant, which at times must have been difficult, needless to say we wont be going back!
Great Time
Stayed at the Vista Bahia July/August 2007 2 adult and 1 child , fantastic views , nice hotel great food, most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Be prepared for some steep hills if you dont want to stay in the complex. Overall a great holiday. But maybe not for the typical English pub brigade.
Great to get away from it all
What a great location for a get away from it all holiday! This hotel has some of the best views in the Balearics! Set on the side of a hill, on a headland, with pine forests all around, and a fantastic view of the bay down below - it even managed to beat San Antonio's sunset strip for views of the sunset! The hotel itself was very basic, but clean. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh, soft towels everyday. We stayed on All Inclusive, and although the food was basic, there was some choice - everything from cooked breakfasts, burgers, chips and ice creams for those who wanted this, to Paella, seafood, salads, cold meats and cheeses and lots of different cakes! All drinks were served in plastic glasses which took some getting used to, but the bar staff were friendly and the evening entertainment wasn't too bad - different shows and artists every night. Whilst we had a great holiday, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for everyone. There were LOTS of steps, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with young children or walking difficulties. It was a 20 min walk into town with lovely beaches, bars, restaurants etc. up a very steep hill. This was also where the nearest shops were. Anyone staying for more than a week would probably want to hire a car. If you want lots of nightlife, Portinatx isn't the resort for you. If you want a short break, to relax by the pool or spend time exploring the countryside this is for you.
more 2star than 3star
The hotel is in a beautiful location with stunning views, The food was excellent plenty of variety and plenty of it, The rooms also appear to have been refurbished recently and are very fresh clean looking That’s the good bits over with. Lets start with reception on arrival and through the week, rude, arrogant, ignorant and generally unhelpful. Bar staff were generally the same if not worse. It was about half way through the week when we found out that this is the first season for Thomas cook in this hotel. There was a maid service everyday to sweep the floor make the beds, change the towels. But she wouldn’t change the bed linen just make the bed. She only changed the bed linen when we stripped the bed and left the linen on the floor by the door. The general cleanliness of the complex was poor. Most bins dotted around the complex and there were lots of them were full overflowing and like that for two to three days before being emptied. The pool area was only cleaned once during the week we were there. Most mornings you would find the sun bed’s staked up in piles and the umbrellas neatly staked but that was it. The plastic glasses that you had to drink out of were either overflowing the bins or left in piles everywhere. This is supposed to be a three star hotel they make you drink out of plastic glasses in the restaurant in the bar area in the entertainment lounge. The only time you were allowed to have a glass to drink out of was after 11pm at night when the free drinks stopped and you paid for your drinks then you were given your drink in a glass. Even coffee during the day, you would get it in a transport cafe style polystyrene cup. And don’t even try and ask for an ashtray to put you cigarettes out or flick your ash into. The barman gestured me in a very harsh manner to go and use the flowerbed outside the bar area on the terrace to put my cigarette out. When I saw the flowerbeds around the bar terrace it was vile cigarettes everywhere. It stayed like that and is probably still like that. The kids club was non existent well The evening entertainment was shocking some of the worst shows I’ve ever seen (I think they were dancing I’m not sure) And a closing note I'm not a moaner or a winger I just got on with my holiday. But I had a very bad encounter with an Internet holiday company last year so I went with high street branded company. Thinking if there are problems there will be a rep on hand to sort it out If I did want to moan or complain I didn’t see our rep at the hotel until the day we were leaving. Then the response was well I cant do anything for you here in Ibiza you will have to file a complaint when you get back. Other guests during the week who had managed to catch up with her said she was as good as useless. This is a new hotel for Thomas cook and it shows It would probably need a more mature well-established rep with Spanish as a second language. They need to put a bit more effort in to this hotel get them to buck there ideas up we are all paying guests at the end of the day. This could be and should be a beautiful hotel.
no more fiesta but inturco
This hotel has been sold to the Inturco hotelgroup. The hotel has recently been reopened under a new management. I stayed there last week, but I it was not working very smoothly. They have a lot of work to improve. It was a mess at one the tenniscourts and not all sport facilities had been arrived. The staff did there utmost and worked very hard, although there were not enough of them. They have been refurnishing all rooms, all beds are new. They are cleaning the rooms daily and provide you with new towels. The hotel has fantastic views, also from the rooms. The pools and garden are oke. There food is disapointing. I chose this hotel for there good buffets but that was probably in there fiesta time. It is almost the same in the afternoon and evening and fish is very poor, calamaris and fisticks.
