Excellent Holiday - Why all the complaints?????

I travelled to this hotel with my husband and 13 month old daughter, and had a wonderful time and I urge people not to take ANY notice of the negative reviews of this hotel. We booked through Thomas Cook, the brochure states "due to the number of steps this property is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties", so why people seem suprised to see steps is beyond me!!
On arriving to the hotel the receptionist was very friendly and we were checked in very efficiently. With our 3 suitcase and pushchair we made our way to our bedroom. As we had a room with a sea view we did have a room on a high floor but that is to be expected if you want to see the sea!!!
The restaurant was spacious with a lovely outside patio to make the most of the sun and to see the lovely sunset. The food was of a good quality and there was always a good selection. The staff were willing to help whenever we needed them, this goes for the restaurant, bar and reception.
As for the swimming pools, there were 3 of them which were all lovley. Yes they are cold but that is exactly what I would expect of an outdoor pool and if a 13 month old baby can enjoy having a dip it can't be that bad!!!
Reading the comments from the majority of people who have wrote on this site I don't understand where they get their opinions from, I never once saw anyone complaining to a rep although did hear people moaning about not being able to get an omlette!!! People need to realise that they are in a foreign country and maybe they should expect food different to the norm, if you want your omlette or fried eggs (& probably a nice cup of English tea) then maybe you should stay in the UK.
Overall, we really enjoyed our holiday here and would definately recommend it to people who are able to walk up steps etc, it is a lovley hotel for a family break!

I am wondering (if there maybe two Vista Bahias)! as we had a fantastic time.
ROOMS, The rooms were large and cleaned with new towels daily.
FOOD, we had several choices for every meal every day, it wasn,t piping hot, but was not cold, i thought it was perfectly ok. The food was labelled and presented very well.
DRINKS, there was plenty of choice both alcohol and soft drinks which were served to midnight. POOLS, the swimming pools were cold but were very clean.
THE STEPS, Yes there are lots of steps everywhere but the site is on a hill and the views are fantastic. I don't think they could of laid it out any better.
STAFF, The staff are very helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
ENTERTAINMENT, There was always something going on whether it be water polo or football, plus there was a kids club every day, and in the evening ther was entertainment as long as you joined in.
I would definitely go back and recommend to my friends as long as they were not elderly or have any problems walking.
Great sunsets from the bar or restaurant.

poor value

Having been to other hotels in portinatx before, this hotel was a let down. The food was
so poor we had to buy food out,the staff allthough friendly were not fully trained to run a bar/resturant. We liked the location & the room was o.k.the hotel was generally clean.
Great views over the bay & ideal to watch the sun set which made up for the attempts at
entertainment! No good for the less mobile holiday maker.

What a shame...

First off I would like to say its not all bad the hotel is set in beautifull surroundings and has brilliant views especially at sunset, the staff are friendly and the kids club was really good fun for my 5 year old, the pools are relaxing and always clean. Its not far to the beach and the little lizards are friendly!
Be warned though it really isnt suitable for anyone who struggles with hills and steps as there is loads of these and they really are quite dangerous - I counted 4 people on crutches and 2 people bandaged up from slipping down them and that was in the first week and we were here for 2!
The hotel really needs to improve on 2 major areas as it could quite easily become a 4*, at the moment I would have to rate it as a 2* and thats at a push (a big one) and thats just for the location!
The food really is awfull and thats not exagerating, I know you would have read the comments that its only a 3* and you get what you pay for but honestly I wouldn't feed it to my dog, although I dont think even he would eat it! The food is always cold, undercooked and tasteless, it has a choice of 2 different main meals and soup, it is hardly ever labeled so you have to make a very intelligent guess as to what it is. My son lived on Spagghetti Bolognase and chips for 2 weeks. My girlfriend had a raw piece of chicken on one day and the burgers you get at poolside are very undercooked so be carefull. We, along with at least 20 others, complained to the rep about the food and the fact it was always cold and we were greeted with a microwave the next day!! what a joke!! The cutlery is dirty and the plates are the same, Check everything thoroughly before it passes your lips especially if your taking little ones. On more than one occassion we walked into the the restuarant and walked back out again it was so awful, luckily Portinatx is a lovely little place with some nice restuarants and is only about a 10minute walk away! But if you do decide to stop here make you you take a fair amount of money with you because the food off the resort is expensive with just a standard meal with drink each for 2adults and a child will cost you on average 45 - 50 Euros.
The other area that badley lets it down is the cleanliness of the rooms - the maid hardley come in to change towels and bedding and there was mold behind one of the beds. I hope the hotel reads these reviews because if they could change these two areas (which isnt to hard to do is it??) it could be a really nice place to stay.

  • Advice: My advice is go to Portinatx - just dont stay at the vista Bahia!!
  • Activities: The Chinese in Portinatx is fantastic and Porto Blanc by the first beach is good too

not ideal for small children
3 / 10
May 2009, lillywalton

We decided to stay at the vista bahia for our first holiday abroad with our 22 month old son, it described good facilities for children, however it was not only poor but dangerous for children, located in the kids pool area is an unlocked gate leading to approx 30 steep concrete steps landing on a cliff face overlooking the sea, wonderful for adults but deadly for children, the playground consisted of a tatty little play house witha slide that lands on concrete and the entertainment was diabolical, hesitant to say we spent most of our time off the complex as it was too stressful. The food was poor lacking taste, variety and often dried up and cold. The setting however is magnificent, but i would certainly stay at neighbouring accommodation upon my return.

just come back from this hell hole it must be how prisoners feel when they are released it felt like heaven. The rooms if you like we were in the top part of the hotel was like climbing a mountain not at all suitable for anybody with a disabilty or breathing difficulties, and very difficult for parents with buggies. The food was in my opinion and several others disgusting the cooking staff seem to lack basic cooking skills the bacon was not cooked the fried eggs when they were on the menue ( twice in a week ) were under cooked still in places raw, toaster not available one day. The soup at lunch time and evening tasteless no imagination with the rest of the menue.Pool bar when open the lad had no help and some of the burgers were not cooked through still frozen in the middle,if he reqired to restock with anything had to leave the bar unattended to go to the main building to get supplies surely a phone or two way radio would be the answer the bar at night was no better one barman should have at least two barman stood no chance. The staff not able to speak english. The amount of peaple who were complaining to the rep I should imagine bookings will drop especially from word of mouth needs someone with hotel experience to go in there and sort it out because it could be a very good views fantastic but at the moment that is all it has I gave it one star but I think that was generous it is the first time in years I have been to Spain and never to Ibiza I certainly will not be going again

I completly enjoyed my holiday at vista bahia,
Everyone was friendly and helpful, the views were amazing!
There were alot of steps in the hotel but its worth it to have an ocean view from your balcony, I found the hotel very relaxing, the entertainment was fun and they always tried include everyone in it, kids and adults alike.
Yes the drinks may have come in plastic cups but who really cares, I thought it mattered what was in the cup not what it looked like! lol
The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, and its gorgeous, the water is so clear, it really is picturesque.
There could have been more choice of food but the food was still enjoyable.
There was always activites on such as basketball, football, ping pong, and french bowls and anyone could join in.
I only went for a week with my 2 friends and we wished we could have stayed longer, I really would love to go again.
Like others have said if you pay for a 3* its going to be 3*
I personallly would give it higher.

It's HELL! don't trust

Really I felt stupid to trust in the "good reviews" of these page about this hotel. Now I can say these "good reviews" are a fake, probably created by the owners of Inturco. The reallity is this hotel is Hell, only Devil was missing to be complete! The staff has no education, no language skills, no idea of how to deal with their jobs and the costumers, 90% of them have problems with the alcohol as I had been able to see with my own eyes! Reception staff was also terrible, except a nice guy from who I don't remember the name at the moment. The reception manager was some kind of frustreted woman that belives she has the right to deal with costumers like they are rubbish! The bar pool only serving cheap food from a woman called Joanna that looks she never cleaned her hands or her teeth! Rooms dirty and not cleaned every day! About the enterteinment services, the same! The tennis place is destroyed, no volleyball place, also not gym as Inturco says on advisements! Really, my worst holiday in life! The only positive things I can say about this hotel are the Kayak excursions with an amazing, confident, servicial and friendly guy, the enterteinment chief, called Isaac and his coleague Kiki, the life-guard. These really special two guys and the guy in reception are the only competent staff on hotel for 500 costumers that had been doing their job with passion and saving our holiday from the hands of Inturco evils. I will never back and I will not recommend this hotel to no one!

I went to Club Vista Bahia last year and am quite shocked by some of the poor comments. I thought it was lovely place and the views were amazing which made me not focus on the negatives. When I say negatives they are petite like you can only get two drinks at a time and the drinks are in plastic cups. However, I didn't really care about that.
The food was brilliant for a 3*, the rooms clean, the staff friendly, energetic & helpful. Like people say, you get what you pay for. If people are really that disgusted by it then they should be spending more money and going to 4/5*'s.
I loved it so much there that I am going back again this year. I've been away to lots of places abroad but never have I felt so peaceful and calm as I did at the Vista Bahia.

Can't Fault It

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Here's mine.
I was a little apprehensive as one of our party is very particular about cleanliness, food etc, but she loved it.
When we arrived late at night the guy on reception was dealing with an incident but was nevertheless welcoming and offered us food and drink. OK the rooms are not stylishly decorated but all 3 of our rooms were well equipped and clean. The food was exactly what you get on a 3* all incusive med holiday, no better, no worse.
The pools and terraces were spotless. The staff were friendly. What more do you need. The staff work really hard and were always busy but never rude.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Just remember, if you book 3* you'll probably get 3*.

We recently returned from Club Vista...
4 / 10
Oct 2008, Mrs C Smith

We recently returned from Club Vista Bahia and would like to share our feelings. 6 of us went there (4x adults and 2 x teenagers aged 14) and had our doubts after reading previous reviews. There are very few good points about the hotel - the rooms are clean but in urgent need of updating. In our three apartments we had lights that fell off the walls, fans that did not work and the bathrooms were just awful. There was a major flood there one night from a burst pipe which sent raw sewage into several rooms (not ours) and caused a lot of damage. The food was good - but there was always a shortage of cutlery and tables, and we always had to clear/clean the tables. The view from the restaurant is beautiful though. During our stay we witnessed things that just should not happen though: staff were unhelpful and rude and there were not enough staff. Rubbish was everywhere but in particular the toilets which were disgusting and glasses were just left at the ends of the walkways. My son cut his foot on a broken glass and ended up with 4 stitches! The attitude to us when this happened was to be unhelpful and un-cooperative even though we had told the staff that there was a lot of broken glass on the pathways 3 hours beforehand! The amount of rubbish obviously encouraged the rats that we saw (even on the balcony of one of the apartments). Getting drinks was a nightmare and one night we could not even get water so resorted to using one of the pay machines which then ran out of bottled water but did dispense a rusty can of tonic water with a use by date of August 07! I think one fact that sums it all up was when we were talking to one of the tour reps who informed us that one well known tour operator will not be featuring this hotel in their next brochure due to the number of complaints they have received. It could be lovely as the location is stunning but it needs to be completely renovated and a lot of money spent on it. Tour operators really should be taking note of the amount of complaints that are being submitted and act on them rather than keep on sending people out there.
