After travelling all night we got to hotel at 530am in morning, to be told we could not have our room until 12 noon next day, and that we can sleep on the sofas in reception. My 6 year old daughter was very upset and we were all tired. After arguing about it for half an hour he said we could have a room key but there might be people in there. We dragged our cases up the hill again and saw all clothing in the room so it was obvious people were in there. We went back down and slept on sofas in the end and at 8am when the receptionist changed over they gave us a room which had been vacant all night!
The room was ok, smelt bit musty and we had several woodlice in there after we got back from being out at night. Our towels were changed regurlarly but our sheets was not changed once all week.
The food was ok but didnt have much variety, the waiters and bar staff were always polite but there was not enough of them, they work very hard. They ran out out of cutlery and glasses most nights. The entertainment was not very good, my daughter loved the mini disco but the animation team tried their best but was not very good. The hotel is set in a lovely place but we will not be going back there again.

you get what you pay for it was adequate. The staff were polite and very hardworking especially Lau the snack bar worker. The meals were good but became repetative as the week went on.It was very secluded so if it is a holiday by the pool you are looking for then that is what you get. Walking into Portaniax was fine but walking back would be difficult for the old and infirm.certainly not a resort for the unfit.
it was a good job it was all inclusive as the prices in Ibiza for food and drinks quite expensive.
overall been there but unlikely to go back.
lack of sunbeds and parasoles caused problems with people putting towels on the sunbeds early morning prohibiting the staff from cleaning the pool side, not the Germans or French but the English who thought it was the God given right to have the same spot every day.
- Advice: views lovely, but short of entertainment

went as a family group of 5 in 2008 everybody totally enjoyed it food was great accomodation was excellent rooms was cleaned daily.me and my wife went in 2009 and it was just as good, it was that good iv'e booked again to go this year. personally i dont know what people expect from a 3 star accomodation but i think its better then a 3 star as there was plenty of food and a good variety concidering they are catering for 5 different nationalities when i was there, entertainment was a bit naff but after a few beers who cares. beech is fantastic in portinax was nice and clean its aprox 15 minute walk to portinax it is a bit hilly but the excercise did me good. never had to go to delboys to eat because the food was ok never starved i actually put on weight even with tackling "heart attack hill" everyday. at the end of day the holiday is what you make of it if you go out lookin for faults you will find them but if you go to enjoy sun, sand, food, drink and just to relax and unwind then this is the holiday for you. you wont find no sand at the hotel except for the kids sandpit which i wouldnt recommend to play in as ive seen a cat hanging around by it.

Having recently returned from the Vista Bahia hotel, I felt I had to write a review. The experience I had at this hotel was completely different to the majority of other reviews here.
When we first arrived, the receptionist informed us that we couldnt have our room yet as checking in didnt start for two hours. However, we were shown where we could leave our cases, and given our all inclusive bands and shown to the bar to have a drink and some snacks. When we returned the room was ready.
The room itself was spotless, with adequate furnishings and clean working bathroom (although could do with updating at some point in the future). The toilet however did keep filling, which was quite noisy. On mentioning this to the receptionist, within 5 minutes we were moved to another room, identical, but without the noisy toilet!
I am a very fussy eater, and thought that this might be a problem, however, there is a good variety of food available, and it is all well cooked and flavoured. The view from the dining room is amazing... you can see the sun set whilst eating your evening meal... perfect.
The staff are all friendly, and seem to speak a number of different languages. There is also a shop on site which stocks the basics. There are a lot of steps around the hotel, but this is stated clearly in the guide so I don't see why people have problems with it!
The swimming pools are all clean, and there are three, a deep one and two shallow, so they were never too crowded. There is also access to a lot of sun beds, and a lot of places to use them.
You can go down the steps at the hotel to the edge of the water, where there is a wooden board to get in. If your balance isn't amazing, I wouldn't recommend this, but if you get the chance, get in there with some snorkelling gear... there are so many fish and plants, its amazing!
Having booked the holiday 20 hours before we flew out, we were apprehensive about the holiday, especially with it being our fist holiday as a couple, and reading the negative reviews. However, everything was perfect, and I would love to have the chance to go again next year.

when we first got to the hotel we were told we had to wait until 4pm for our rooms to be ready, got to our rooms and found mould growing on the roof of the apartment, then we had rain,i know we can prodict the weather but with a hour of rain our apartments were flooded in a inch of water!made us wait for 5 days until the offered us another room, and then the rooms were 6 floors up and with a large group with 6 under 9's this wasnt any use to us.And now the food, same every night fish, pasta, chips, bread, soup.il my kids ate was chips and we ate out most nights at DELBOYS BAR who are a fantasic english run pub (thanks guys),kids entertainment lasted 15mins as was all in german, and as my kids were the only kids doing it,it seemed poor and very sad for the kids, full of germans and french, only a hand full of english, things like [--] off home uk writen on the walls and doors,25 mins walk to any shop, and very rude staff!!!!DO NOT BOOK THIS HOLIDAY!!!

We had a lovely week staying in the Vista Bahia. We booked it months in advance and only read the reviews a month or so before travelling, which were mostly negative, so were quite dreading what kind of holiday we were going to end up with. However, we could find no fault with our accommodation or holiday at all. We were in room 103 which had a magnificent view over the sea and not too far to get to any of the hotels amenities. The room was very clean and the maid came and changed the towels every day as well as cleaned the room. The food was so plentiful and so much choice that I didn't know where to start at any meal time! Was especially impressed with the fact that empty food trays were replaced with full trays even when there was only 5 minutes left until end of meal service!! The french bread and bread batons were to die for and so much of it available at all meals. We found no problem with the bar and, as all inclusive guests, had plenty of choice available to us. Had no problem drinking out of a plastic glass, it all tastes the same and saved the busy barmen running around trying to collect and wash glasses as well as serve drinks. The pools were very clean and plenty of entetainment available if you wanted it.
I do think that we were very lucky to be staying in there at the time of year we did(June/July) as I suspect it may be a different story when the hotel is much fuller during the busy holiday season and the staff are fully stretched. We were also very lucky to be in a room at a lower level so we had no hills or steps to climb up and down. However, I do feel that it is only a 3 star hotel so people should only expect that from what it offers. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel you should look for that style accommodation so that you are not disappointed.

Just spent 2 weeks at the Vista bahia( 19th july - 2nd aug ) Firstly... stunning sunset and great views overlooking the med sea.Now the hotel..It sure is steep and secluded, about 15 minute walk down to portinatx. We were in Room 526 ( near the summit of mount everest ) small and basic with an overgrown pine tree as a view from balcony. Had sheets changed once in 2 weeks, got clean towels every day though ( posh eh,ha ha). Had to ask for loo roll ( maybe it was rationed ).2 adult pools and 1 good sized kids pool, with plenty of sun loungers but not enough parasols for protection from the searing heat of the sun at this time of year. You have to be up early with the birds to get a sunlounger we tried once but then thought.. why get up so early when on holiday, We wanted a decent sleep so never got up early again. Always seemed understaffed, pool bar during the day and main bar at night was so busy sometimes it felt like checking in at airport as the queue was long enough. As with any hotel, get a safe as 2 guests I know of had stuff stolen. Our only down side to this hotel was the food...We never thought We were fussy eaters till We came here.( the flys were enjoying the food.. never knew you could get so many flys on one piece of melon )We tried breakfast twice, lunch maybe 3-4 times and gambled on dinner about 9-10 times, always mainly disappointed ( will never forget the tears in my wifes eyes one night, never seen my wife looking so fed up ) We found a good place called del boys in portinatx, so spent a good bit of time their for food and drink. Would We go back...Na ! All in all , some will love the vista bahia, others wont, its just personal taste. Hope you enjoy if you decide to go here.

I would never do the silly o'clock night flights thing again. It was mildly annoying feeling like you were only getting 6 nights when you paid for 7. We arrived at the hotel on Sunday at 6am having left Blighty at 1am. Our room was ready so we could at least fall into a bed for 2 hours before getting some breakfast and that counted as the first night! We had to be out of our room by 11am on the Saturday and our transfer didn't pick us up from the hotel til 3:20am Sunday morning. We sat in the nicely repainted white and teracotta reception area on the comfy cushioned whicker sofas until the gentleman on reception turned out all the lights at midnight. He was 'persuaded' to put them back on!
Overall we loved the hotel. It does have lots and lots of steps, but it was only dangerous if you were very young, infirm or very drunk. The 3 separate small pools was much better than one big one and they were clean and well maintained and very warm by the afternoons. We thought the food was great - you might want to beware the salad stuff as it is left out between lunch and dinner without any covers over and there are lots of flies about. If you don't like seafood you might be a bit limited on choice. And whoever said they can't cook bacon is right, but all of the food was cooked properly. A few more labels on what the food is would be nice, but my 9yr old son enjoyed trying lots of different things. Lots of other children seemed to eat chips for every meal! The hotel leaflet said it did packed lunches, but when I asked, they gave me another leaflet with it crossed out. To me that's not All Inclusive and trapped us in the hotel for the week as we had not budgeted for eating out which was extortionate. There was always fresh bread, cheese and meats available at breakfast, but one of the hotel rules is no food to be taken out of the restaurant and abusing All Inclusive would result in having it taken away! Worrying! Mind you the hotel has a rule about not reserving sunbeds, but if you want one you need to queue up at 8:30am sharp with your towel at the ready! The pool was also supposed to be closed at 7:30pm, but they didn't chase people out which was nice and some were still in gone 9pm. The bar was open 10am to 6pm by the pool and I think the hotel tries to limit it's costs by having it staffed by one person who can only serve so many people and using the silly 125ml plastic cups! I didn't mind the plastic cups as it was poolside, but the colossal waste was appalling. Bigger cups would have meant less waste surely? Lots of queuing for drinks (but no limit on number of drinks like some people said). Poor Lau had to get all his own stuff from the kitchens too when he ran out, which meant leaving the bar unattended at times. The terrace bar was open 6pm to midnight and was similarly staffed until 10pm when someone else helped.
The room was clean, the air con worked well and only when the door was shut (no time limit or repeated button pushing). The heavy plastic curtain liners were fantastic at keeping the heat out of the room. Not sure what other people mean about not getting clean sheets etc. There's a double sided 'door hanger' and a hook on your terrace door to say if you want your room done or not and you have to put your towels in the bath if you want new. It takes less than a minute to strip 4 beds and if you take the time you'll be sure to get new sheets!
The kids club is only available between 11am and 12:15pm if parents are around the pool and has a limited amount of toys and activities, but really friendly, enthusiastic staff. They also run activities for all in the afternoon e.g. water polo and the kids entertainment singing, dancing etc. starts at about 9pm. Next time I would choose a hotel where they have a proper kids club where you could safely leave your child for half a day and go off and do somethng they would find boring!
Reception staff were friendly and helpful in trying to get hold of the rep and they mostly spoke several languages (less friendly with the packed lunch thing!).
Portinatx is beautiful, unspoilt and expensive. The brochure says 500m down a steep bank to the beach, but we think it is a little bit more (nowhere near a km though) and down a road. It wasn't til the end of the hol on a pedalo that we found the beach the brochure actually referred to! We walked all the way across and out the other side of the village and found a souvenir shop. It pays to explore as some of the things we bought were half the price of the shops nearest the hotels!
I know you're not meant to rate the tour operator here but I would never book with Thomas Cook again. John the rep had no idea about family needs, gave out very little info, even false info on excursions and was not very available. I got the distinct impression he spent all his time in San Antoni, would rather be based there with that kind of clientele and was only out in Portinaxt (40 mins from San Antoni) because he got a company car that way. Beware the glass bottomed boat day trip. It's only a day trip because you spend over 3 hours on a coach touring Ibiza to pick up and drop off people from and to other hotels (which the rep lied about and said he didn't know that!). When you finally do get on the boat it is a huge 3 decked catamaran, but the viewing area below deck is very cramped (it's a cat after all) and you don't get much opportunity to look at the fish as we spent the first hour and a half of the 'cruise' being a water taxi (scaring the fish away and not waiting long enough for any to come back), same as the coach picking people up from different hotels, all at top speed so getting any good photos was impossible and flat out the engines were really noisy! The 2 hours sea swimming in a cove was actually 30 minutes. I queued to go down the boat's slide to get in the water,. If I had known we only had half an hour I would have pushed a few people in! At no point did the rep say you need a packed lunch - maybe I should have asked, but what is it they get paid for! We thought food was included as drinks were. Drinks were not included - some awful sangria was available and some cheap and nasty fizzy orange, but nothing else, no water which is all I wanted. One family had a diabetic child and their rep lied to them too which is downright dangerous. Everything else you had to buy. The worst of it was 2 female reps were in the only toilet on board most of the time being sick. They looked rough before getting on the boat so it wasn't motion sickness - not very family friendly! If you want to get the best out of your hol do not book the Thomas Cook excursions, do some research at home before you go and do your own thing.

Arrived here 18 June. Good Hotel,we were a little apprehensive after reading reviews, but we had a good time, very hilly and a bit of a walk to Portinatx but views made up for it. Food not bad, cannot say it was fantastic, but we found something edible to eat at every mealtime. Staff lovely, rooms clean but could do with updating.Entertainment was hit and miss at first but really got going mid week, the entertainers were excellent and worked very hard.Swimming pools good but very sloping and slippy.BEWARE-My wife fell on waste ground just outside the hotel on the second day and broke her arm,she was wearing sensible shoes, had not been drinking and just slipped. What a nightmare,it is very expensive to get treatment abroad as you know even with insurance etc, how anyone with no credit card or cash manages I don't know,All in all she coped (we had 3 grandchildren and son with us)WOULD GO AGAIN,BUT WOULD BE EXTRA CAREFUL
