We came back from this hotel on may 16th, the location is great overlooking a bay with glorious sunsets, the food was good plenty of choice, all the staff were really friendly, its a 10 min walk to portinax down a quiet road, maid service every day,gen mix of people, couples, familys, mostly british and french, would go back and recommend.there are some steps so if your not good on your feet dont go. The thompson family.

Stayed here july 2010 for only 1 week Arrived at 3am.. to be told no rooms? had to wait till 2pm. so lost 1st day, as very tired.given a damp smelly room up 1000,s of broken steps... refused to stay in there so was given a nice room on floor 2, yes room was clean, air con good.sheets changend and towels every other day. the food was awful.. raw chicken.basic salad, chips ,chips and more chips, dirty cutlery if you could find any. pls go 2 all meals as soon as dining room is open.. as the food is slightly better, and more choice.staff were excellant. but over worked. always a long queue for drinks at night, and saw a few fights break out among guests as they were just fed up.?the family pool is lovely for the kids. but no sun beds after 8am...you can not even buy a newspaper in the shop.. and its a very long slipperey walk to beach hard work with kids and adults in 100c heat. Portinax is a stunning small quiet resort, with a lovely warm safe beach, if i went back i would pay more and stay in the El Greco or a closer hotel to town.I would never go back to Hotel Vista Bahia.. even if it was free...worse accom iv ever stayed in, they ob have a very low budget? and need to employ a new chief and give them a much bigger budget..The best thing we found was to miss the horrid breakfast and have a toasted sandwich at approx 11am at pool bar. Take fly spray as we have never seen so many flys in our entire life worse at night, even the staff had enough...i have been all over the world and this holiday was a very last minute break Never again

Just returned from a 5 day holiday with a 6 year old son staying at Vista Bahia. I was very pleased with the hotel and the location, the views are excellent. The hotel staff were always very friendly, the rooms very adequate (great air conditioning) and the food in the restaurant not bad at all. Entertainment and facilities OK, pools great for children and the nearby beaches are superb. Do not understand some of the bad reviews I have seen - they must either have been in a different hotel or just very picky. I would definitely consider returning next year.

Peaceful, relaxing family holiday

Just returned from Hotel Vista Bahia. 2 children with us age 13 and 11. Kids had a fab time - loved the pools and treating themselves to drinks, ice-ceams or snacks when they wanted. The entertainment staff work really hard and do the best with what they are given. The room was quite basic but very clean and had everything you would need. It's very quiet when you go to bed and very quiet when you wake up even though the place was full of families - very relaxing. There was a good choice of food and all was delicious - a good chance to try foods you wouldn't normally. Enjoy it on the terrace watching the sun go down - amazing! Absolutley stunning views! It's a 10-15 min stroll into Portinatx which is gorgeous and yes, a bit steep walking back but not as bad a others have said. Common sense - if you have problems or leg/back trouble then probably not for you but otherwise the walk will do you good after the lovely meals, it's no big deal. Overall we all really enjoyed the holiday, we stayed for a week which I think is enough to be doing not a lot apart from eating and lounging by the pool. Oh yes, you will probably have to get up early each morning to reserve your sunbeds. It's a pain but everybody does it, not just the English. You won't get one otherwise - this is only downfall but we managed to get 4 and an umbrella each day.

i booked this even though the reviews were mixed. i am currently staying at this hotel now. booked for 5 nights but i want to go home already. havent been to spain for over 10 years as i usually only do long haul. but i thought i would give it a try. staying at this hotel with my two sons 17 and 10. the 10 year old loves the pool. this accomadation is good for familys with young kids. but if anybody has problems with stairs make sure they dont put you on the floor beginning 900 thats where i am . not enough sunloungers people still are putting their towels on first in the morning. if its a cheap deal then it maybe worthwhile staying here otherwise dont book it. taxi from airprot to this resort costs around 40 to 50 euros one way. and if their is aproblem with your room you will have a problem getting it changed.

We have just returned from the vista bahia and can honestly say we loved it. The kids, age 8 and 4 had a brilliant time, fantastic pools and rooms were basic but very clean. There was plenty of choice of food in the restaurant, you couldn't really leave hungary!Only real downside was the fact we had to get up at 7.30am to make sure we got a parasol for the kids as it was so hot! We had the most amazing view from our balcony, really peaceful. The main town of Portinatx was a 15-20 minute stroll which is stunning, the beaches are amazing and very shallow for kids! Overall if you are after a peaceful, family, all inclusive holiday then the Vista Bahia is great!!

Good experience

Aug 2010, London lady

Nice hotel. The food was good with lots of freshly cooked produce. They do simple things well. The family accommodation was fine - ask for a room with a divider to separate off kids sleeping area. Drinks were free - the cost of that can really mount up on a holiday.Hotel staff were low key but helpful. Good deal for a family holiday.
The Thomas Cook rep, Kersten Kitchen was a complete chancer, however. She was unreliable by not turning up when required and gave wrong information which the hotel had to correct. Then she gave a sob story trying to get the guests to feel sorry for her. A freeloader.
Don't listen to the moaners. Ibiza is a lovely place to visit.

My wife and I have just returned from a wedding 30th anniversary weekend break, we saw some of the reviews elsewhere and expressed a little concern for the place, but our stay was excellent.
Arrived in the early hours of the morning and pointed in the right direction to our room, yes it was up a hill/incline but not a problem for us.
Room had both air conditioning and a fan (no extra charge !) safe @ 3 euros a day fair enough with a 10 euro refundable deposit.
Opened the curtains onto a balcony (not expecting one) to over look the bay fantastic view.
Short rest then down a fairly step set of steps again no problems, into the restaurant, well presented and good choice of food hot and all edible.
Out to the pool area for the day, plenty of sun beds but a little short on parasols to provide a little shade for our British delicate skin !!.
Lunch, again plenty of choice hot food hot, cold food cold, all edible no problems
Only criticism was no hot drinks tea/coffee etc.
Around the pool for the afternoon access to drinks / food from the little hut area poor lad running it was very well used and he was put under pressure to produce hot food.
Drinks were in small cups need to be larger, perhaps the same cups the beer was in, we found we had to take two soft drinks to get a decent drink to quench a thirst,
Evening meal again great plenty of choice hot and cold all edible no problems.
Only criticism was no hot drinks tea/coffee etc.
Evenings were spent on the veranda / porch area where the live entertainment was, drinks plentiful and local drinks were large and well received, queues did build up occasionally, but us Brits used of that !
Then to sleep, air con and fan provided a restful nights sleep, no noise to disturb it either, great.
Woke rested and fit for another day.
If we were going to stay longer than a weekend then we might have gone further a field, did try the beach area but were happy for a relaxing weekend in and around hotel / pool.
Overall a wonderful weekend hotel / food / pool very good only a couple of niggles but nothing to really grouch about. Ignore the negative and enjoy.
Recommended for couples, younger families not for older kids or persons with serious infirmities.

we have just reterned from vista bahia and we loved it !
All staff where very well mannered and where happy to help , entertainment was v.good and bar staff where good. All rooms was kept v.clean and always made up to the top standered .The adult pool was rather cold but once you get in you soon warm up . If you eat on the terrence you can see the sun set and the views where stunning . The beach is around 15 -20 minitue walk away from the hotel ........ The only downside(s) to this holiday was the hills , my eldest daughter has a 4 month old baby and still needs a pram so this was rather difficult . Also the food Wasnt up to much good ... i would not recomend this hotel to people with walking difficulties as the hills are massive. But overall this holiday was fantastic !

Vista Bahia - Never Again!!!!

Arrived with my husband, 10 year old daughter and 20 month old son on 1st May 2010. We have been holidaying in Portinatx for 5 years but always at El Greco, which is also a 3 star hotel, but puts Vista Bahia totally in the shade. On arrival at our room we discovered that it and our bedding was damp so we complained at Reception. They said they could not change our room, eventhough the hotel was only around a third full. They changed our bedding but within a few hours it was damp again. After having our bedding changed a few times over the next few days we took it up with the Thomas Cook Rep, Ricky. He would not even come and look at our room and said that we should expect the damp as the hotel had been closed for 6 months and it was the beginning of the season! By the middle of the week we were having to dry our clothes with a hairdryer because they were damp! The food was the worst i've ever experienced. I lived on lettuce sandwiches for 3 days and then me and both kids, along with a lot more guests got food poisoning and were bedridden for 2 days! On speaking to a staff member at El Greco she wasn't surprised. She lives near to the chef and said once he served up raw chicken nuggets to the kids because he'd forgotten to turn on the oven!! Restaurant staff were also seen picking up food off the floor and putting it back with the rest of the food to be eaten!! Gross!!! The communal TV never worked, eventhough they had technicians out to it and the hot drinks machines were constantly breaking down. The entertainment was dismal, especially for the adults. Lack of staff behind the bars, particularly at night, meant long queues and at one point a brawl almost broke out so they brought an additional staff member down to help out. On a brighter note, the resort is lovely and the beaches clean. We have recently learnt that Ricky, the Rep, has resigned, probably from the massive number of complaints he had to deal with. We put a complaint in to Thomas Cook on our return home, which they are still investigating almost 2 months later!! Thomas Cook will never get our custom again!! I would advise anyone thinking of holidaying at Vista Bahia to think again as it's a shoddy, unhygienic poorly managed hotel.

  • Advice: Seriously reconsider, you really don't want to go there

After reading all the reveiws on this hotel I felt I had to write something . I stayed at the Vista Bahia in May with my wife ,daughter and 16 month old baby for 1 week. We have stayed in Portinatx for the last 6 yrs so knew all about the hills , steps etc which is the same for most of the hotels/appartments on the resort and in truth are not ideal for the elderly, disabled or people with babies but we love the resort and it really is beautifull with stunning views so we put up with it. The hotel is a little dated but is clean has a few pools which are well maintained and the rooms are adequate and its set on a bay with great veiws, although it is about 15 mins walk from the square, bays and beach where there is some nightlife ( did this walk quite a few times with the buggy and a bad back and its not as tough as people are making out). From what I'm lead to believe the week of our stay was the first week of the holiday season and trust me it was like Faulty Towers, it was understaffed although Lau on the pool bar and the lads on the main hotel bar tried thier best they really needed extra help. The toasters coffee machines hotel tv and kids amusement machines didn't work properly and the food was awfull .Nothing really for the kids very repetative, some stuff undercooked and only after a few days of complaints when more guests arrived did meat / fish start appearing on the menu. The entertainment in the daytime was ok but at night it was really poor and I say this compairing it to the other hotels of the same star standard on the resort. The room we had was damp but they wouldn't move us which was strange as the hotel wasn't full and the rep when we asked him to come and take a look said and I quote: well you have to expect this, the hotels been closed for 6 months :and wouldn't come to see it. It was so bad we kept the babys clothes in a suitcase and had to dry them with a hair drier before he put them on.Lots of people were complaining about other sfuff. We have put in a complaint to Thomas Cooke but haven't had a reply back yet as they are chasing the report ( 2 months so far) .Im very realistic when it comes to holidays and am not a fussy person.. like someone on here said if you want the Ritz dont go 3 star , but to me this place falls a bit short which is a shame because it could be a really great place
