Tsokkos Beach
Just arrived back from the above hotel. Hotel was in a central location so 5mins walk to the main parts of Protaras. My children were scuba diving so this was why we went and Hotel was clean and tidy and towels etc cleaned every day. Staff were lovely and smiled and were kind to the children. The food was better some nights than others but otherwise, it was fine but not alot of choice. Breakfast was your usual bacon, eggs, tomato and toast etc. The best beach was in Nissi which we took a Taxi to and cost 9CYP. Weather was great and enjoyed the time away. Entertainment was not great so we went out every night to escape the awful bingo and singing. To be honest the young guy was better! Otherwise, the hotel was fine, food was okay and good to get out and about if you get bored as pubs etc open round about.
good location hotel standards not 4*
the hotel is not a 4* hotel.the location is excellent, close to the beach and all ammenities.the food was average, stopping two weeks gets very repetative, staff were very polite and helpful.hotel kept very clean, rooms were basic and tired looking ready for a makeover.the town is only 5 min walk to all bars , restaurants, shops.the hotel does not suffer from noise. entertainment left a little to be desired. overall an enjoyable holiday and would return to protaras but not necessarily same hotel.
No way is this 4 star!
Booked this hotel after reading good reviews on this site. However was very disappointed with the standard of hotel. The decor is very dated and the food was bland, with limited choice. Waiting staff unhelpful. The only plus point is the location and we enjoyed 2 lovely meals at the Mexican at the top of the road due to not being able to face the buffet on our last 2 nights!
great location, lousy food, lousy service
At this hotel the rule is "Caveat Emptor" - let the buyer beware.... The hotel is in a good position and has good facilities, it is close to the beach at the top end of town, a couple of minutes walk to the bars and restaurants on the main protaris road. Thats the good stuff sorted now for the reality of our stay. We paid close to £4,000 for 2 weeks half board (x3 adults one chlid). We expected a 4* (or close to) hotel. This is not the case. On arrival our room stank of smoke and when we asked to move rooms we were told the hotel was full and we could not be moved. They also said the hotel was non smoking in the rooms and that they could not watch over everyone - why then are there ash trays in all the rooms? Our room was close to the very noisy lift and it did keep us awake for the first few nights, but we put this down to bad luck and got on with things; watch out for this. The main problem with this hotel is the food and service - there's only so much pork and gammon any person can bear and everynight bar two (that we bothered to go there) there it was, same old-same old. The service from the restaurant staff was also awful. They are ignorant and do not speak english. What has happened is now that Cyprus is part of the EU, the hotel has shipped in an army of cheap labour from eastern europe and probably pays them pennies. The result is untrained, unhelpful people who can barely communicate - and you've paid top money for the privilege. This must be good for the balance sheet but no good for the customer on his hard saved for ,2 week break in the sun. In summary stay away - or at the very maximum book room only or at a stretch b&b. Forgot to mention - the beer and wine is also barely drinkable and expensive, look elswhere! Try the sunrise beach hotel or go self catering, the food in the resort is very good and value for money. All the best, Rob Cash (Wolves)
Dissapointing, a 2* at Best, but with friendly staff
We went here with hi exectations as it's advertised as a Cyprus 4* hotel. We have since found out that a 4* in Cyprus is gained by having certain amenities, not on the quality of the place. It is a 2* at best, seriously. It is in need of a refurb. Very 1980's. Bit's pealing off the wall. Dated decor. Things not working and broken in the room. When we complained, the Hotel Representitive agreed with everything we said and offered us an upgrade to the Constantinos or their Vrissiana, but with us paying the difference. (These are much nicer hotels by the way). We also saw other people checking out to move hotels while we were there. All this said, the staff were very friendly. It was fun for our little girl (although the entertainment was laughable). Good activities arounfd the pool. It is close to the beach. The food was really good and they served a nice variety everyday. If you're bored with Blackpool, then go here, but personally, we won't be going back.
great hotel
Myself, my husband and another couple stayed at the Tsokkos beach june/july of this year on a half board basis. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the pool is probbably the best pool I've ever seen at a hotel and the food , although a bit repetitive is very good and there's lots of choice. Drinks are quite expensive in the hotel, but if you do book HB , you can go over the supermarket opposite and fill up on supplies. It is so close to all the bars and the beach, but don't worry you won't be disturbed at night. We were really pleased when we arrived, the rooms are quite adequate for a couple, but it could be a bit of a squash if you had a 3rd person sharing. Storage was a bit of a problem, all rooms have a hairdryer, but you have to pay to hire the safety deposit box and the fridge. The maids clean every day and leave fresh towels. Entertainment at the hotel was really quite poor, but all the kids seemed to have a great time. We only stayed in one night and our men got roped in to the kids games, which was hillarious as they were both stone sober. My advice would be to book on a half board basis as I don't think the all inclusive would be good value. There are so many great / cheap bars & restaurants within 2 mins walking distance that it would be a shame to tie yourselves to the hotel. Try the Flora bar, cocktails are only £1 and are really potent....say hi to Michelle & tony . Another good bar is the Square bar, where the entertainment is a bit dodgy but good fun. The beach is honestly 2 mins from the hotel, it's clean and the water is gorgeous, but pay a visit to Fig Tree Bay which is only a 10 min walk or 2 min bus ride away. It's stunning and a great place to try out the water sports. You can travel anywhere by bus for 80 cents ( aya Napa., paralimini etc) a great way to get around. I can't say a bad word about Protaras, the weather was HOT.. 43 degrees some days and the Tsokkos beach a good base for your hols. But again I'd say go Hb, you can always upgrade when you get there. Visit the water park...the kids will LOVE it and don't forget Famagusta the lost city....it's fascinating.
something for everyone
if your a couple on your own or a family this is the perect place to come as there is something for everyone! if all you want to do is lay by the pool all day then there is a fantastic pool to lay by, or if u fancy a trip to the beach then that is only a five minute walk away! but then if people want to do other things in the hotel there is a geat games room and activities through out the day until 5 where any one can join in! if u go al inclusive the food from the bar is great and you do get a lot! you can also get towels from the bar as well for use round the pool! then at night starting from 8 there was the kids mini disco which every one can get involved in! then till 12 there is entertainment on for everyone. if you don't want to sit in and watch the entertainment then the hotel is in a perfect location, at the top of the road is all the bars and resturants all in waking distance to the hotel! the staf in the hotel are lovely and they all make you feel welcome. in the resturant there is a wide viraity of food so you can chose what you want. they als9o have a special buffet for kids witj food like chips and chicken nuggets! this is a great hotel and we will deffanatly be returning next year!
Never again!
We were sold a quiete, relaxing holiday, but received a very disapointing one with a dirty, dated and shabby hotel. Peeling wallpaper and cockroaches in the bedroom (which we were told by the reception staff that due to the hot weather this is quite normal), rat excrament in the dining room, restaurant ceiling in a very poor condition, a big hole in the game room ceiling constantly leaking water in to a bucket placed on the floor. Food was average, with limited choice and very repetitive. As halfboarders we were made to feel second rate guests from the less than helpful management/ reception staff. Very laud music starting at 11.00 AM every day made conversation by the pool virtually impossible even after asking to have it turned down. The laud evening entertainment was not just poor but often embarassing to watch. Unless you are a fotball or Bingo fan, you will be bored. The only credits to this hotel are the Slovak staff who were polite, kind and always helpful and the swimming pool. We consider this hotel to be more like a 2-3 star category and would never recommend it.
Bad mistake good outcome
Problems started at Cyprus Airport when told at different Hotel from my family, who were booked in to Tssokos Gardens this was after a 3 hour wait for luggage. Due to travel agent error I was now forced to stay in a Hotel on my own. Found Tssokos Beach to be in a good location virtualy on beach with plenty water sports and boat trips, good sandy beach with bars and eating spots and clear sea. Large pool real clean very cold, but was late October. Two minutes walk to Protaras from Hotel. Good standard of room, balcony, sea view overlooking pool. As All Inclusive guest food not of the highest standard due to problems with Chefs but good food at snack bar outside always clean and friendly.
Big disappointment
We went on our first holiday without our teenager children and booked what was supposed to be a 4 star hotel. What a disappointment ,shabby sourroundings,eg,dirty carpets cracked tiles in bathroom, faded bed bedding, dirty pool and surrounding area missing tiles in pool, cockroaches, broken umbrellas, pool toilets 1 out of 4 usable.Managment most unhelpful. Food was of a basic standard PORK was very popular at most meals Were told premises are being refurbished this October ??But obviously squeezed another season from it .What a waste of hard earned cash . PS when booking foreign holiday 4star is not the same quality as here in the UK
