Tsokkos Beach Hotel

Was all great, apart from the entertainment really, although, Craig, Becky and mouse were all great, they always came over for a chat during the day and after they had finished in the night. Bar staff were fantastic, got on really well with them, they were very friendly and chatty, have really missed them and have only been home 2 days!! Pool was lovely, nice and clean and always got a sunbed, the beach is also great with its location and has great water sports to offer!! Would definately go back to this hotel again.

I too after reading some of the comments about this hotel was totally surprised when we arrived. The rooms were spotless. The pool is by far the best pool I have ever seen in a hotel abroad. Apart from some of the reception staff all other staff are very friendly. The maid service is excellent. The snacks that are included in the day are excellent. There could be a little more choice of food at the evening meals.
I would definitely go to this hotel again but next time I wouldn’t waste my money on all inclusive I would go B & B as the snacks are reasonably priced in the hotel and there are plenty of good and reasonably priced pubs and restaurants in Protaras to eat in.
With 3 children aged 8, 10 and 14 the entertainment was excellent and not as the other review said as being all quizzes. The entertainment reps were excellent and put on shows nearly every evening, we saw Aladdin, Moulin Rouge and lots more. Highly recommended.
Protaras itself is a lively place to stay and I would definitely go again.

Husband, two teenage daughters and myself travelled to this hotel and after reading reports we actually expected to demand a move to another hotel on arrival. After speaking with the reps they explained that this hotel used to be very problematic but had reopened in April after a Million pound facelift. This was a fantastic family orientated hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious, food was good although a little repetitive (pork of some kind on the menu every day). The staff in general were polite although the main receptionist always looked miserable.
Although we had booked on a Half Board Basis we found that drinks and snacks were very expensive so after just 3 days we decided to upgrade to All Inclusive. (Around £50 a day for a family of 4).
The pool and bar area was clean and there was plenty of entertainment by the Jmc Reps during the day if you wanted it. The Tsokkos is in an ideal location as the garden area around the pool leads onto the beach.
Alot of the guests come back to this hotel every year and although reports state that the Odessa is a better hotel i found out that the Odessa is in fact the sister hotel of the Tsokkos Beach and that the Tsokkos was by far the most popular of the two.
The only downside to this hotel was the evening entertainment. This mainly consisted of the reps dragging in hotel guests to be the entertainment for the evening. Some evenings the only entertainment was a quiz although the reps were fantastic and did their best in a bad situation.
After speaking to guests at other hotels i was informed that there is a lack of entertainers in Cyprus and that all hotels were struggling for entertainment
At the top of the road is the main street of Protaras so you are very close to the main centre but far enough away as to not be disturbed by the noise.
I would definitely return to this hotel again but on an All Inclusive basis as Cyprus as a whole is expensive when compared to the Balearic Islands.

We loved the holiday at the Tsokkos beach hotel (got back at 6am today).
All of the hotel staff are really friendly and the entertainment staff were great, dealing with kids / adult entertainment during the day and then doing the singing / dancing entertainment at night. They - Mouse, Becky and Butch - were great and really friendly.
The pool was very clean and you could always get a sunbed - although watch out for the blue umbrellas as they tend to blow over if there is a lot of wind (very strange but it tended to get windy each afternoon).
We loved the holiday and are looking to return next year.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at this hotel. I admit after reading other peoples reviews I was worried about going but we went in a party of four and could not fault it.
The staff in all parts of the hotel were helpful and friendly. The pool and terrace area was cleaned every day as was our room with fresh towels every day. The food was good and varied and there was something for everyone, and when the restaurant was closed there were snacks burgers, pizza, panini, jacket potatoes and much more.
The JMC entertainment staff are excellent they made our holiday. If you want to join in the daytime competitions they make it fun and work very hard. In the evening they cater for the children and adults, and for bingo fanatics (not us) they have one game in the evening before their show.
We would go back again it was great.

Reception and headwaiter not very friendly, all other staff were very pleasant.
Hotel in need of major facelift, very shabby indeed, our room was not vacuumed properly, if at all, children’s pool very dirty, Entertainment was rubbish, the highlight for us was winning £15 on bingo! Food was very average and not very good for vegetarians, left over dinner was rehashed for lunch the next day! Breakfast was good. Lots of nice places to eat in Protaras with reasonable prices.
Gift shops over priced, try Larnaca or Ayia Napa for shopping other than gifts (i.e. clothes!). Macronissos Beach and Nissi Bay in Agia Napa are very nice beaches, bus is only 55cents. Fig tree bay is in within walking distance of hotel.
We will not be going back to any Tsokkos hotel ever and it has put us off doing All Inclusive again.

We stayed at this hotel, after being upgraded from a smaller Tsokkos hotel, we disagree with others, who gave the hotel a low mark, we have stayed in better 4* hotels, but the staff were very friendly, the towels were changed every day, also the bedroom was cleaned daily.
The Pool was very clean, and the area around it.
The food was good, alright it got repeated the second week, but we would go again, the waiters were very polite, and good at their job.
The entertainment was a bit amateur on some nights, but you don’t have to listen! The Cypriot music night was very good.
As for Rats near the pool? I can honestly say that this lady would have been on her way home, if she had seen any.
The furniture is a bit tatty, but with a little money spent on replacing a few items, it will be well worth a 4* rating.
We are going back in 2005.

If this is a 4* hotel then I am not only difficult to please but every med holiday resort hotel is vastly underscored. I have stayed in many 3 or 4 * hotels throughout the med and this would struggle to make 2 *.
The pool was dirty resulting in an epidemic of ear infections, the entertainment was chronic. The hotel management were appalling and uninterested.
The food was ok but spoiled by the ridiculous ruling of long trousers in the dining area, which would have been ok if the dining hall had been clean and commensurate with a 4* hotel ( complete with lovely paper napkins ). It was nowhere near.
There were several other petty things which combined to spoil the holiday but suffice to say that the entertainment area was deserted every night with people preferring to go out then stay and ‘enjoy’ their ‘all inclusive’ package, which incidentally did not include bottled water.
Won’t ever go back to a Tsokkos hotel.

Just got back. Tsokkos beach is not a 4 star hotel Thomas cook rep rated it 2 star.
Major problems with the pool ear infections, rats. They tried to jet wash the side grills while people in the pool. No ice for 4 days in daytime drinks. Entertainment is diabolical, we thought it was deliberate so all inclusive would not stay in at night - it worked. If you like very loud music all day while relaxing you will be alright, but don’t expect to be able to talk to each other. Food ok but repetitive. Carpets stained and rippled; check out the threadbare settee in reception.
Staff very nice (apart from the management- especially the male receptionist who is often rude) we spoke to people who had been before on 2003 and they told us it had really gone downhill. If you want to know what people expect for four star go next door to the Odessa (owned by same group) and judge for yourselves after all Libra moved 40 guests into it because they would not stay in this one. Alas we found most of this out at the end because like most people we don’t like to complain and made the most of it.
We are now complaining to tour operator as we feel cheated and we are in contact with a lot of others who are doing the same.
Come on Mr Tsokkos it’s not on!

The Tsokkos Beach Hotel was not 4 star standard. Rep and Libra refused to let us move without payment for whole new accommodation part of holiday. The Tsokkos Beach Hotel needs to be completely renovated. Seeking compensation and would never travel with Libra again as they refused to help us enjoy our holiday. Wish we had stayed at home.
P.S. Protaris is nice.
