Santa Lucia Hotel

A wonderful Experience! My mother and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Santa Lucia for 15 days in September, 2007. This Hotel is exceptional. Our room which overlooked the Bay of Naples was large, clean and air conditioned (which we could control). The entire staff was extremely friendly, polite and eager to help us in any way. Last year I booked my return flight from Naples and I decided to spend one night in this lovely city. I have not made any accomodation arrangements and I took the cab from the main railway station in direction of "lungomare". There are several hotels in that area, but everything was booked due to some big convention in the city. Even the President of Italy was there. Hotel well located with excellent restaurants just across the road by the sea. 3 course meal for two with wine for under 50 euros in Restaurant Transatlantico. Hotel room clean and modern with good aircon which is a must in Naples in summer. Breakfast good for Italian standards. Reception staff efficient but not overly friendly (exception Francesca). This hotel is highly recommended!

My partner and I went to the hotel and asked whether they had rooms available. The courteous and efficient staff showed us a spacious and very nicely appointed room on the first floor, with a sea view (Castel dell'Ovo just across the street) and a small balcony. My wife and I spent a few nights at the hotel in early January 2006. The room was very spacious, comfortable and well equipped, including a jacuzzi. The room's balconies afforded excellent views across Naples Bay to Mount Vesuvius. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and business colleagues.

I've just stayed there for 4 nights and the 2 first nights were absolutely disappointed. It has to do with the fact that I got a promotional rate but nobody told me that I would have a 3* room in a 5* hotel. But they exist. Be aware and avoid the 5th floor. Small rooms, worn furniture, old WC's and away from the standard that you expect. The last 2 nights were spent in a fantastic room in front of the bay, spacious, elegant and charmy.

The Santa Lucia is in a great location looking over the bay, on Via Partenope. The room we stayed in was clean and well furnished, and the hotel staff were polite and helpful. It is worth paying extra to get a sea view, the bay of Naples and Vesuvio are one of the classic views in the civilised world. The hotel is near many good restaurants, some on the Borgo Marinaro which it overlooks and others towards the villa Communale, which although having quite noisy traffic, has a fantastic view of the bay. Just back from three days in Naples. My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Santa Lucia right on the waterfront by the Castel dell Ovo. It's an expensive option - you do pay a lot for the location. Our room - a seafront corner - had fantastic views over the marina, castle and bay of Naples with Vesuvius and Capri visible in the distance. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Piazza Plebicito and all the restaurants and shops north and west of there. We have stayed 2 nights in this hotel, returning from Amalfi vacation and, well, that was not as bad, but I have seen much better hotels. The staff was a kind of cool and reserved, though functioning pretty well. We got our room changed twice without a problem.(first room we've, the safe was not working, the second room was smoking, and we wanted non-smoking ). The room we've got last was rather pretty and large, but with a traffic noise. However it seems to be something that you cannot avoid in Naples. Breakfast was OK, but nothing really... more

Naples is a dump. I have been all over Italy and love the country so we chose it for our honeymoon. After a wonderful stay in Sorrento and Capri we had to stay one night in Naples as our flight time was changed to an earlier departure. The hotel lobby is very attractive but the bedroom (senior suite???) was incredibly average. The staff were rude and unhelpful apart from our waiter in the restaurant (where the food was, admittedly, very good).
