San Germano Hotel Reviews

The hotel was reasonably clean, the staff are helpful but it helps to be able to talk some Italian as not all of them can speak much in other languages. You can arrange day tours through the hotel which I would highly recommend.
I have read a lot of bad reviews about Naples and this hotel and I think that people expect too much! Naples itself has some impressive sites, and the areas surrounding Naples, eg: Capri, Almafi Coast, Sorrento etc are beautiful. It is worth staying here and then paying out the money to do the tours as the cost of just staying in a hotel in somewhere like Sorrento would end up costing you just as much without the costs of even going anywhere. You have to appreciate that the Italians don't eat western food, don't expect to see burgers and chips etc. They eat a lot of seafood, pasta, pizza, vegetables etc, but you have to be open minded and try it - the food is beautiful and definitely worth trying. There is not a lot around Hotel San Germano - but there are free buses that drop you off in Naples centre or the harbour.
The bus will also do a pick up later that day. Be cautious that there are a few Romanian beggars in Naples, and also a few people that will follow you about as a tourist - this is because the unemployment rates are low in Naples. If you stick to the main streets or as a group you have nothing to worry about, Needless to say do not go round wary all the time - you have to enjoy your holiday and definitely make the most of it as there is so much to see. I would go back anyday - It is better than England any day!

The staff spoke little English although some were helpful. If you want to travel into Naples it is an expensive and terrifying taxi journey. The area around the hotel is run down and dirty, so is Naples.
We went to Sorrento for a day trip, very pretty would much rather have stayed there. This is purely a business hotel.
