New Europe Hotel

good location, good food, good trasport to rich hotel.

Like many places in Italy, air conditioning is not turned-on until Summer. During "warm" days in spring, no air-conditioning is a real problem. Hotel solution was to open the room's large window, down side is that hotel overlooks the rail yards so noise all night. Hotel is situated away from main city centre, area is not great. Other guests were concerned over venturing outside hotel at night. Staff were good.

The New Europe is an excellent hotel. The rooms were a good size and very clean. Check in was quick and easy. However staff tended to be a little bit unhelpful and slightly rude at points. But breakfast was good and the roof terrace was fantactic. The hotel is close to the central railway station, which has a bad reputation but we found it was no worse than anywhere else in Naples, just noisy and full of traffic (like Naples as a whole). My least favorite hotel of our stay. Location is so bad that I wouldn't go outside for a walk. We were advised to remove all jewelry including watches before going outside. Looked like I was in Tijauana. The evening staff for dinner was a little rude (breathed down our neck...they obviously wanted to go home) and the breakfast buffet both mornings was a joke. Coffee was cold and water for tea was lukewarm at best. Food ran out and they were slow to refill. Room was clean but I wouldn't say this was the place to stay.

The rooms are decent size and very modern. Housekeeping is great, the breakfast was good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Check-in took only a minute as they already had all the documents and keys ready before we arrived. The hotel is close to the Central train station, which is convenient for buses to the airport and other parts of the city. Although the area does not look great, we didn't feel more threatened than in any other part of Naples. Would definitely stay at this hotel if I go to Naples again!

Great hotel- sketchy location- but where in Naples isnt sketchy? We used the New Europe Hotel as our starting off point for our week long holiday on Capri- we were w/2 other couples & we all liked the hotel very much- the rooms were quiet even though the traffic outside the hotel was pretty hectic- no different to the traffic all over Naples- its something that has to be experienced to be believed- white knuckled the entire time. This is a nice new hotel situated just around the corner from the main train station. Directly opposite is the sercumvesuvia train station with trains direct to Herculaneum and Pompeii. The area is poor, and bit of a red light area, but not particularly scary at night, but this is not a hotel for lone women or families with young children. Keep in mind that Naples on the whole has seen better days - there are not many 'nice' areas here anyway - go to Capri if you want nice. The breakfast was very good and in a nice restaurant. We stayed at the New Europe for one night and were pleasantly surprised. We walked the short distance from the train station and the area is very undesirable. Our room was a good size, with a large bathroom. Everything was very clean and modern. We enjoyed dinner in their restaurant. I would stay there again if I were passing through Naples but if I was staying for a few days I would choose a hotel with a better location.

The previous reviewer said it all. A wonderful hotel, clean, big rooms, good food...but we were afraid to walk the neighborhood and definately did not want to venture out at night. Naples is not a clean city and the area around the central station was littered with bottles, garbage, homeless, strong stench a bit frightening. We did enjoy ourselves however and if we saw the need to return to Naples, we would consider the New Europe as it was a class hotel.

The New Europe was recommended to me by ItaliaTour. It isconsidered to be a medium priced hotel. It is very "AmericanStyle", with a bath tub, carpeted floors, CNN on the television with couple of other English chanels. Perfect for the business traveler. I foundit to be very inexpensive for such a nice room! The New Europe was a little hard to find, you can't quite see it from the train station.
