Mercure Angioino Hotel

The Mercure Centro is located well. Across the street from Piaza Municipio, and a 2 minute walk to the Molo Beverello from where you get the ferries to Capri Ischia Amalfi. So for Euro 99 and the location it served our purpose fine. The rooms are modern, no problem there, and although the staff are helpful they are not friendly. The taxi is a fixed fare of Eruo 16 to the airport + luggae etc; and 2 minute walk to the ALIBUS stop for the airport and the train station. We stayed at this hotel for our last night in Italy coming from a 2 week stay on the Amalfi coast. It was not what we expected and a huge disappointment all around. The room was dark and dismal, not especially clean and very depressing. The bathroom was small and the shower so tiny you could barely turn around. We couldn't wait to leave for our flight home in the morning. After checking in, we were left to find our room and cart our luggage ourselves. We chose the Mercure Angioino in early March 2006 because it seemed to be in a convenient position for staying in central Naples. It was, and we were very glad we didn't choose one near Piazza Garribaldi which would have been a nightmare at night. As it was we found several nice little places to eat very near the hotel and felt safe walking around. The hotel is clean and comfortable and luckily warm, as we hit a spell of very cold weather. We had a lot of trouble finding this place.There is no parking so you have to trust your car on the street.Breakfast was very average.The room was just a room. for what it cost I would expect much more.We had just been robbed of our passports,travel documents,digital camera and several other items from our backpack that was in the back seat of our carat Pompei.This was done by motorcycle theives as we were travelling through the main street average speed 20ks when the pillion passenger opened the door as we were moving along and grabbed the... more
