Great location, view, solid hotel, good service
I stayed for 2 nights in June 2005 (most other hotels were already booked). I was pleasantly surprised. The public areas are pleasant, even stylish. Felt like a European hotel, not a characterless chain. Breatfast was very good. One of the best things is the location - in the historic district, easy walk to shopping, churches, habour, major sights, even the Archaelological Mususm is walkable (long). My room was a very bad one (booked a single and arrived after midnight) - view over the city instead of the bay, white melamine furniture... more
Jolly inconsistent
We stayed at the Jolly for 2 nights at the start of our holiday at the end of April and then for one night at the end of our holiday beginning May 2005. The hotel is as described by previous reviewers - tall, nearby to shopping areas, close to 'touristy' restaurants. The lobby is good, breakfast from 7am-late am is great, good range of buffet food, both hot and cold. We didn't eat in the restaurant there mainly because of a heavy meat/fish content and I'm a vegetarian. I liked the late check out - 2pm - which meant that we could... more
Jolly Hotel in Naples
The hotel is well located. The staff is anything but friendly or knowlegable. The hotel also stands out becuase of its height. I would stay there again.
Americans Not Wanted
Staff at the Jolly Hotel were very "unjolly". They made it obvious they did not like Americans. The area we were in was unsafe, we were very disappointed in Naples. It was very dirty, full of garbage and graffiti was all over. Even the museum we went to was dirty. The man at the reception desk would not even take my post cards to be mailed. The elevators did not work properly, sometimes we had to go up several floors before finally getting to the restaurant which was on the 1st floor. We would have walked rather than take an elevator... more
Room roulette at the Jolly Hotel
We booked a four night stay here in July 2004 through Expedia. The Jolly Hotel is the biggest hotel in Naples, but whilst its gleaming lobby might exudes the promised four-star style, our 16th floor room felt like a Tenby Travel Inn: small with chipped furniture and (gulp) carpeted walls. However, returning today, we noticed that another reviewer here on Trip Advisor complained - and got upgraded to a bigger, more modern room on the 24th floor. What can we say apart from mental note made! Despite our room complaints (oh, and the... more
Castle View - possibly
We stayed 2 nights at the Naples Jolly Hotel in mid May 2004 with our Globus tour group. The hotel is a tall, columnar, glass walled structure in the old part of town near the harbour - a great location. Rooms on the west site will face the bay and our room also looked down at the Castle Nuovo from about the 13th c. The east side rooms face the mountains and city. Looking at the hotel from ship in the bay, it really sticks out and does not fit with the surrounding buildings. Location is everything though - the hotel is a short walk... more
Great Value, Great Location
We took 'Discoverring Naples' package which you can find on the hotel's web site. That includes two night stay (our room was a newly renovated one), one dinner at hotel's restaurant (good full course with a glass of wine. We're offered Napolitan cakes as a compliment), tea & cake at a cafe in the old area of the town (so-so) and Arte Card (two free entrances to famous museums and unlimited use for public transportations for three days). The package was only EUR 330 !! As the hotel was the only 20+story building around there, the view... more
Jolly was not so Jolly in the beginning!
I chose the Jolly Hotel based on your reviews. I have never written a review before so bear with me. Our first room we were given was horrible. Old, peeling paint, etc. My husband went down and told the front desk how unhappy I was about the room and they immediately upgraded our room to the 23rd floor. Which was totally awesom compared to the previous. It had a wonderful view of the harbor, the bed was comfortable and clean, the bathtub was enormous. After all we had a marvelous stay at this hotel and would recommend to anyone, just beware... more
Great location
We spent 10 days at the Jolly and found it to be highly satisfactory. While it may be considered a monstrosity (from one of your letters) sticking 30 floors over anything nearby, the view from our 22nd flr. of the bay and city was great. Its strickly a commercial hotel -nothing warm and fuzzy from a tourist standpoint, but efficient, very comfortable and modern. They have a full breakfast. The location is great. Hydrafoils about 3 blocks away, buses to anywhere out front and an easy walk to the Toledo, or the Via Dei Tribunali,,the mandatory... more
Excellent hotel! Highly recommended!
Stayed at this hotel in June 2003 for 147 Euros per night. The hotel is very new and has a beautiful lobby. It is located within walking distance to the port, train station, and main square. We got upgraded to a deluxe room which was spacious and had a minibar and television. The bathroom was large and there was a toilet, sizeable bathtub, single sink, and bidet. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast includes hot and cold selections, and is well staffed. The air conditioning works really well as we were too... more
