Not bad for the Price but poor location
This is a standard Holiday Inn. Costly restaurants, in a business part of town, but close to the airport. Very long walk to downtown, but the hotel has a shuttle. Rooms were ok, but not great. The price was good, we just stayed one night. The area around the hotel has a few fast eating places for lunch.
Icky Icky Icky
We stayed here in Aug 2005 and I was not impressed. You can walk to the hotel from the train station but the neighborhood is very scary and every couple blocks we passed a pile of garbage, literally, taller than a house. The Hotel is in an elevated business park…it is like a bunch of skyscrapers with an elevated ground…for all of the business people to walk above the garbage, I guess. When you are up off of the street it is fine. There are a lot of restaurants and a Metro stop very close. The front desk was curt but got the job done. The buffet breakfast was exactly what I expected for a hotel of this class, not super fancy but fresh.. The problem I had was with the wait staff. We ate there for four mornings and every day they set us down at a dirty table. We were never asked if we wanted something to drink…oh once when we were leaving. And at 10:30 watch your fingers at the buffet because everything is coming down. You are serving yourself and they are taking it out of your hands…It was pretty bad. The shuttle service is inconsistent…at one point we were waiting for the shuttle at the Hotel and after15mins (they told us where to wait for it) it drove past us full of people. If it is full fine but could someone have told us so we didn’t have to wait when there was an obviously pre arranged trip? Another time it was late and we were waiting for the shuttle at the main train station and it never came. Which is one thing, but the Naples Train station at night… at this point we stopped taking the Shuttle…which presented the other problem of the taxi’s ripping us off. Three exact same trips three totally different prices. The room was typical Holiday Inn. The toilet had to be repeatedly pushed to flush. The view was of a nasty vegetable market which made you think twice about eating the lettuce. The window had never been cleaned… I looked at it sideways and there were about 20 forehead marks on the glass…yuck. The actual room was fine but everything around it was not nice. Naples is a dirty nasty city and I can’t tell you how many times I got short changed or otherwise ripped off. SKIP NAPLES GO TO SORRENTO INSTEAD!
A good place to stay for business
I stayed at this hotel 5 days per week for 2 months. The location is not the best in Naples and not downtown, but very well connected with "tangenziale". The staff is very friendly, both at the front desk and at the restaurant. "Unfortunately" the hotel is packed with Japanese horde and it can be very difficult even to reach the buffet in the morning, not to mention the lifts, where the wait can get long at the rush hour. Very good the breakfast and the dinner, food and service are exceptional. The rooms are well equipped, the suite is extremely large. The garage service is very convenient.
Very good quality for good price
The hotel is located in a kind of business park. You can walk from the Garibaldi Train station or take the free hotel's shuttle bus. It operates hourly from the hotel to downtown and back which we highly valued, just be sure to be there around 20 min. ahead since there is only space for 8 persons. The service of the hotel was very good and the staff very helpful. Very nice breakfast buffet where you can even help yourself to a an orange juice from freshly squeezed oranges. Very good value for money. Book your room online on the holiday inn's website (ichotelsgroup) and you can get a good price. We were on the 11th floor, see photos.
Nice Hotel, Shabby Neighborhood
When I say shabby neighborhood, I mean shabby even by Naples standards. I've been in and out of Napoli since 1978, and the hotel sits in one scary, decrepit neighborhood. However, the hotel building and staff are multilingual and very professional, and the property is clean. Can't say anything about breakfast because we had to leave early to catch a flight; too early for the breakfast room to be open. Hotel restaurant appeared to have limited menu, and a pricey one at that. We walked to a small restaurant nearby, but it was nothing great. You'll either need to go shopping for your own vittles or bite the bullet and eat in the hotel. Airport shuttle is great, drivers are professionals; but there's no service before 8am, so be prepared to pay for a taxi if you have a flight leaving before 10am.
Not to bad
Big hotel, very clean, friendly staff and a free shuttle that takes you from the hotel to down town and to the airport. After traveling for 2 weeks it was nice to stay in a hotel with a big bath tub big beds and a great view of the city and harbor. The room was very clean and the AC was always on. The location is not in walking distance to downtown but that is ok they have a free shuttle that runs every hour to downtown and to the train station. If you are come from the train station dont take a taxi that will rip you off take the holiday inn free shuttle which will pick you up on the oppsite side of the taxis near a Mcdonald's restaurant (if you walk out of the front of the train station go to the right to the corner and you will see the green holiday inn bus, it makes its last stop at 20:40.) The hotel is a great deal if you if know about using the shuttle. I got the hotel for $68 a night over the phone w/ holiday inn.
Excellent hotel, bad location
The Holiday Inn Naples is great value for a short stay. We stayed for 2 nights and it was perfect for us, although the area is one that you wouldn't dare walk out at night in. The free shuttle to downtown Naples was very efficient and the staff was helpful. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Italy. There's nothing wrong with this hotel, except maybe the floor being hard as rock in the room. Other than that, it was clean and modern. No real complaints about the hotel, only the area.
Great Location, great staff
We stayed in a suite which is basically a very large room with separate lounge and bedroom. Hotel staff were very helpful compared to staff at the Crowne Plaza Rome St.Peters and gave us a room upgrade plus late check-out without any questions asked. The room was very tidy and clean as was the bathroom. We honestly had no complaints about the quality of the room at all. Everything else worked including the air conditioner which is a compulsory for the summer months. Naples Holiday Inn is located in a business district called Centro Direzionale where there is a Circumvesuviana train station of the same name. It is only one stop to Napoli Garibaldi station where you can change for the train to Pompei, Erculano and Sorrento. There is also a bus (C30) that stops outside the hotel that takes you to Piazza Garibaldi. In addition, the hotel runs a free hourly shuttle bus that does a circular run to Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Municipio, which starts from 8am and the last bus runs at 2300. There is also a free hourly shuttle bus to the airport but this does not run on Sundays. In terms of transport options, this hotel is very good. The business district has a host of shops and restaurants but these close quite early. There is also a McDonalds but this closes at 2100 every night except Sat. There is one other pizzeria restaurant right outside the hotel but when we walked inside, we were greeted with unfriendly stares so we just walked out again. The only place which the hotel might not be suitably located for is Beverello harbour which is where you would catch the boat to Capri, Amalfi etc. Since the hotel shuttle bus starts at 8am, you'd have to be lucky to get an early boat out since the shuttle gets you to the harbour (Piazza Municipio) at 8.30am. Naples being what it is, I can honestly say that I recommend this hotel for its location and the staff. It's away from all the noise, smog and city lights yet only one train stop to downtown.
Good Hotel near Airport
Stayed here one night to catch an early flight. 10 minutes from Airport. Nice hotel, in a business area. Looked like it serviced many business travellers. Room was fine, very small. No problems here, but I wouldn't suggest this hotel to see Naples. It is too far out. I wouldn't suggest seeing Naples anyway, go to Sorrento!
Good location to see Naples
My partner and I spent two nights here 16th - 18th March. We were upgraded to a very comfortable suite without having to ask for the upgrade. Quiet location, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast and evening buffet dinner very good value, served in a pleasant dining -room. The hotel is situated in the 'skyscraper district' and there's not much to do outside of the hotel in the evenings, although it would perhaps be pleasant to stroll around the fountains in the squares in the evening in summer. There is a station literally 5 minutes walk away on the Circumvesuviana line from where it's one stop to the Central Station in Piazza Garibaldi. From there you can get on the metro to anywhere in Naples for 1 Euro or go to Pompeii on a 4.50 Euro ticket which is valid for unlimited travel for the day - quite a bargain! We used our 4.50 Euros to visit Sorrento in the morning and then on to Pompeii in the afternoon. So don't be put off by comments about the location. You just need to be a little adventurous and find out what's around. We will definitely use this hotel again - soon.
