The Mare Nostrum Hotel is situated in Playa den Bossa, with a good choice of entertainment, excellent sports facilities in the hotel and plenty of shops, restaurants and bars, as well as Aguamar Waterpark nearby, there's no shortage of things to do in Playa den Bossa. The Mare Nostrum is a large and extremely lively hotel, only a short distance from the northern end of Playa d'en Bossa's long, sandy beach.

Hotel Mare Nostrum was in a pleasant location very close to the beautiful beach (Playa d'en Bossa) and about a 15 - 20 minute walk to Ibiza Town. Also very close to Space and Bora Bora. We found your hotel to be very good. Very clean and with good decor, friendly staff, good food. we will book again next year.

I just had to leave a review for anyone else who has booked a holiday to this hotel and like ourselves has read all the negative reviews, I'm hear to say I was pleasantly surprised.

We did get quite a good deal as booked pretty last minute, we found the hotel to be clean, have lots of ammenities and is just as good as any three star rated accomodation. Ok some noise, but hey its Ibiza, people go out at night and come back early in the morning, to be expected I would say. We are a couple who are both 30 and wasn't really interested in the nightlife seen, we just want sun and to relax and see some of the island. This hotel was in a good location to do just this, it had a lovely big swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers for all to use. I have to say also that the food was really good, there was an amazing pasta bar in the food buffet that shouldn't be missed out! and it was nice to be staying with people from all different nationalities. It also had a nice bar, which drinks were reasonably priced ( e.g 2 euro for a bottle of beer, 4 euro for jug of sangria). All in all I thought good value for money!

Great fun, friendly and clean hotel, strongly recommend. Minor point, keep the bathroom soap stocks up as they did run low. hotel is near the disco and centre. Staff is nice and helpful and friendly. I come back here next year.

Oh my god where do I start? DONT GO HERE! This was the original holiday from hell, plus points for this place the food is good and hotel is clean.

Now the bad points! We arrived at 10am after flying at 5am so we had been up all night. Our rep didn't even show us into the hotel we were just unloaded off the coach and pointed in its direction. On entering the hotel I was very impressed on how clean and smart it was but it went swiftly downhill from there! We were informed we had to wait 4 hours to get into our room which was actually 5 hours in the end, not the best thing when you have 2 tired children one who is only 10 months! When we finally got to our room the maid was still cleaning it! So we sat patiently outside for another 20 minutes. We then went into the room which I have to say although nicely furnished was very small especially for a family of 4.

My husband went in the bathroom where the top of the toilet cistern was on the floor and then it began to overfill and leak. This problem was sorted quickly and we unpacked our stuff into the very small cupboard! We then put the air con on which only works when the balcony door is shut which is annoying as you have to keep switching it back on every time you go outside and come back in! This started leaking water all over my very rickety bed! After unpacking we had our tea which was quite late at 7pm which is hard work when you have 2 kids who are used to eating at 5, all seemed well, nice quiet hotel, good food and friendly staff. We had a quick walk round the block and decided on an early night.

Oh how wrong we could have been! All as I can say is do not go to this hotel if you want to go to bed before 3am and want more than 3 hours sleep! We were greeted with a mass of singing shouting Italians who proceeded to run up and down the corridor banging on room doors. I have actually come to the conclusion that the Italian race have a genetic deformity in their voice box which makes them speak a 1000 decibels louder than the rest of us. We eventually managed a couple of hours sleep after many confrontations with the Italians and an ear shattering firework display and even though we were also located right next to the stairs under which 'the entertainment' was located.

We asked to be moved the next day to a suitable room for a family with a 10 month old child and preferably with a cot that was less than 100 years old and didn't shake uncontrollably every time the baby breathed! They did try and accommodate us but as they were 'full' (of italians), the rooms we were shown were all as unsuitable as our room so decided to stick it out. We spoke to our rep who was no use at all and told us thats what we should expect in Ibiza, but when you book at a 'family hotel' as the tour op called it this shouldn't be an issue.

There are no kids or baby club as stated in the brochures either so beware! We were desperate to move hotels but it was too much money for accom and transfers so this was not an option. The noise was constant throughout the week and resulted in many arguments and confrontations with the offending gob shites!

The pool area was relatively quiet in the day as all the noisy ones were asleep but you did get the occasional show offs playing water polo and you may not mind being hit once with the ball but 20 or so times it begins to grind on you. Although one lady took the law into her own hands after it hit her sleeping baby and gave the ball to reception! I personally would have popped it with my cigarette if it had come my way! problem solved!

I give this hotel 2 out of 10, 1 point for food and cleanliness and one point which had nothing to do with the hotel really apart from letting us meet Gillian, Andrew and co! Who made the holiday bearable and we got through our trip to near insanity by telling each other our grim tales! In conclusion if you are after a relaxing break with the family don't go here we saved up over £2000 for this holiday when I would sooner have gone to a caravan in rainy wales! BEWARE!!!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a holiday to Playa D'en Bossa.

It is really clean, maid service every day. Pools are big and clean. Food is great, plenty of choice. Staff are really polite and helpful.

The only drawback is the hotel is full of Italians who can be quite noisy.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday in a really clean nice hotel.

Stayed here with my family (Mom & Dad and 3 sisters - 17, 18 and 22).

The hotel was really nice and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Was suitable for families - and there were some there as well as 'young' people too!

The resort itself is great - nice long beach (you have to walk past the bit with seaweed to get to the good part) and it was much more relaxed than the other side of the island - but still with a few fun bars and cheesy clubs.

Am going back again this year.

The Mare Nostrum Hotel is located very close to the beach which is the longest on the island and just a 10 minute ferry trip to the cosmopolitan (and expensive) Ibiza Town. It is also only 10 to 15 minutes from the airport, which can be a relief after a long journey. It should be noted however that the flight path of each aircraft is close to the hotel and beach. This did prove to be slightly irritating although the south end of the resort was right under the main flight path!

The hotel itself is very clean and tidy with helpful and friendly staff. The food is acceptable and plentiful from the buffet service. A good tip, however, is to find the grill / cavery area of the dining hall where the chefs prepare fresh dishes such as pasta, grilled fish, carvery etc.

The bedrooms are always clean and well serviced. They are very basic, however, and not overly large.

The reception area, foyer and main bar area are again very well kept as is the swimming pool.

The hotel has its own entertainment team, which provides different shows regularly through the week. The standard of entertainment is not to everyone’s taste and the quality is only average.

The main concern regarding the hotel is the clientele it tries to attract. It seems that British tour operators promote the establishment as a “family” hotel while the Italian tour operators promote the hotel as an 18 to 30 package! This does need checking, although my own experience would definitely back this statement up. With this in mind the hotel can be viewed either as uncomfortably noisy, or an exiting and lively place which is close to the popular night club Space.

Amenities away from the hotel are very similar to what you would expect e.g. gift shops, eating places etc. As the Island is only small all the main attractions are only a short ride away. Top tips for a family outing should include the Aqua Park in Playa Den Bossa, the ferry ride to Ibiza which leaves / returns to / from Play Den Bossa every half hour, the Hippy Market and a glass bottom boat ride. My favourite “outing” was the 13th century cathedral in the walled city in Ibiza Old Town. The walk to the top of this mythical place can be tiring but the views are well worth the effort.

My boyfriend and me arrived at the hotel around 9 in the morning and were told we could not enter our room until 1 in the afternoon which we were not happy with after our early flight. However after some complaining to the staff we managed to get into the room earlier. The staff were very helpful and any problems we had wee sorted out straight away.

The hotel is very well maintained and the food is great, there is something for everyone, I have never been to a hotel with a restaurant that size before it was huge!

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the main nightlife however, I have been to places with a lot more to do but it was o.k. Unos Bar is the cheapest by no means selling bottles of bees for 1 euro each!

The pool was very big with a waterfall it was beautiful and there were plenty of sunbeds however, you did need to get up early to get one. The day and night hotel entertainment was plentiful with a large range of sports through the day to parrot shows at night although we didn’t stay in the hotel at night. The drinks from the bar were cheaper than what you normally expect and the food from the bar was good too.

The beach is not the best of beaches but further down on your right it gets a bit better. You can take a boat trip out to Formentura for as little as 7 euros where the beaches are immaculate and some of the best I’ve seen.

The rooms are quite small but contained all you needed. The ceiling fans had been replaced by an air conditioning system and was very useful.

Overall the holiday was a good one. I would have preferred a bit more going on in the resort itself but the hotel I cannot fault one bit.

Hotel and everything was spot on. Staff and Reps were very friendly and helpful. Equally good for children, couples or singles. Entertainment was good for kids, and on a night was good for adults. Hotel clean and tidy. If anything was needed it was delivered straight away. Any repairs were done immediately. Couldn’t wish for a better holiday. Recommend to anyone.

Fantastic! Sums this hotel up in just one word really. Not a single complaint, everything about it was superb. Excellent choice of foods both at Breakfast and Dinner, something for everyone. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the bar staff and dining room staff. Entertainment at night was very good, loads for the kids to do.

If you do get fed up in the hotel, which isn’t very likely, then try the mini golf complex, a 5 minute walk away, plenty for both mums, dads and kids to do there.

Would have no hesitation at all in returning to this hotel, how its only a 2 star rating is beyond me!!

The hotel was in a really bad state of repair.

Our room was filthy there was a dead insect squashed across the wall on arrival. The curtains were stained with something like blood/cola. It was not cleaned properly. The cleaners were smoking in the corridors. The pool area was never cleaned - blood stains from broken glass that we witnessed. tampons around.

It was not a good hotel at all and we won’t be returning

Hotel area very clean and comfortable, beware of the maids flinging a mop round your room (check under the beds). Food average for restaurant. You are allocated a table in the dining room when you arrive, just don’t expect to get it all the time two or three couples may all be allocated the same table. Area of Playa den bossa is reasonably quite but a five minute walk takes you into the ‘hub’. Hotel and surrounding area great for kids, not so much for teenagers but younger kids.

Hotel has recently been bought over by Italians and there does appear to be an influx of Italian guests for which the hotel rules don’t appear to be the same as British guests.

Overall, hotel good, area good, second visit to this hotel but unfortunately don’t think we would go back a third time.

Great hotel --Great location--- lot and lots for our 5 & 10 yr olds to do at the very good Kids Clubs.

NO PROBLEMS GETTING A SUNBED IN MORNING.

Always plenty of different courses to choose from at Breakfast & Dinner and the food was always of a high quality.

Entertainment at night was also pretty good but it was all sell -sell-sell by the performers as soon as the show was over and the entertainment programme is only over 7 days so you see each show twice.

Highly recommend that you go down to the little harbour and get the little ferry to Ibiza Town---lots of good shops and nice cafes & bars and a really good market at harbour also both kids really enjoyed the ferry ride.

ONLY BAD POINT IS THAT THERE IS NO AIR-CONDITIONING ONLY A FAN IN CEILING--BUT WE WERE TOLD BY REPS THAT IT IS BEING PUT IN THIS WINTER

I went with my family for 1 week and we loved it weather wasn’t too good though being the start of the season the place is immaculate. The food was out of this world hotel was very clean. Also the drink was cheap there is also a kids club for the children so you can have a break with your partner for some loving. It rained a few times that’s why I only gave it a 9 rating. Will be going again next year thanks for a great holiday Thomsons.

Myself and my family have been going to this hotel for 5 years and we think if you have kids between 4 & 15 you will not find a better hotel on this beautiful island.

Fun and games for kids entertainment for the adults all day everyday.

only 50 meters from a great beach football area tennis courts crazy golf rifle shooting darts pool and also a brilliant swimming pool there is something for everyone.

The variety of food is also excellent both breakfast and evening meal..

All the staff is friendly and very welcoming .The rooms are cleaned daily also clean towels every day. Jaime and the entertainment staff also make sure everyone has a great holiday. So if you’re thinking of going to Playa Den Bossa give this hotel a really good look
