This hotel is great for couples, very clean and the staff are very friendly
The entertainment is great fun. I'm someone who normally enjoys sunbathing but the entertainment staff had me and my husband involved in everything.
The Food is ok nothing spectacular. However couldn't have been that bad put on half a stone in a week (ha ha).
Kevin who's part of the bar staff is a great guy. He kept us entertained 2.
We were on our honeymoon and we just couldn't have had a better time. We hope to return in the future for our anniversary.

We have just returned from a week at...

Sep 2005, Miss R Davies

We have just returned from a week at this hotel and I would really like everybody to know just how fantastic this place really is!
I can't believe the previous comments on this website as the hotel was the best I have ever stayed in.
The food was lovely, and there was plenty of chips at lunchtime if you wanted them!!
The maid service was excellent as were the reception staff.
The night we got there our plane had been delayed by 4 hours so we didn’t arrive at the hotel until 5am and were very pleased to find our fridge had been stocked up with sandwiches, fruit and drinks.
The whole hotel was spotless, including the pools, and according to my boyfriend, the gym was very up to date with its equipment.
We went into Protaras and Ayia Napa on the bus a few times and it only cost 70 cents no matter where you go, the bus journey is an experience and you will need to sit towards the front of the bus to stop you from flying 4 foot in the air over the Protaras speed humps!
All in all, we would like to thank everybody at the Hotel and Thomas Cook for a very enjoyable holiday, we will be returning next year and will see you all then.

Having just returned from this hotel,...
10 / 10
Aug 2005, Mr S Dundas

Having just returned from this hotel, I can honestly say that this was the best accommodation and most friendly staff i have every had the pleasure of being with for the past 11 days.
Having read previous posts before going to this location and hotel, there has been either some drastic changes, or people the previous reports are from nothing more but constant moaners.
Yes, you are not in the centre of Protaras, you certainly are only a couple of minutes by taxi (£5) or 10mins by bus (70 cent) from it.
Food is a little repetitive if you are there for more then 7days as every Saturday is Carvary, Sunday is International, Monday is Italian etc.
Cant fault the food though, always piping hot, great choice, service is second to none. Ladies are seated by waiter escorting to table every evening before taking the drinks order.
Entertainment is provided by two Swedish girls, Sara & Marika, with David an English guy. They perform two shows a week including singing and dancing and have a couple of entertainers from another hotel with them for these shows. Other nights during the week, the usual things happen, bingo, name that tune and Saturday night is Karaoke night etc.
Daytime activities are excellent around the pool, darts, killer pool, table tennis and aqua aerobics every morning at 10:30am as well as Water Volleyball and Water Polo.
All the staff throughout the hotel are very polite and helpful, look out for Kevin in the Cocktail bar along with George and Sam.
All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate in returning to this hotel, it is spotless, staff are very friendly and cant do enough for you and you also have the added bonus of it being an adult only hotel. I will be returning in the very near future.

This hotel, is not in Protaras at...
1 / 10
Jul 2005, Mrs V Davies

This hotel, is not in Protaras at all but a few miles away near a town called Paralimni.
It is a fairly new hotel so therefore modern and clean but it is situated in the middle of a building site, with nothing around it. The rooms are nice with good air con and a fridge. That is about the only positive thing I can say. The food is abysmal, the entertainment even worse. This is supposed to be a four star hotel for adults.
The entertainment is very similar to what you would see at an infant school concert. Whilst I was there, there was mutiny regarding the entertainment due to it being so poor. There is no atmosphere what so ever and you would have to go a long way to see so many miserable faces due to the disappointment of having to stop in this place.
If you don’t want to hire a car you will be paying alot of money for taxis so budget accordingly. The very limited all inclusive drinks menu is not good and if you want to buy branded drinks be prepared to pay up to five pounds a measure.
I cant say anymore about this holiday other than if you have booked it and have the opportunity to change you should do so as everyone we spoke to during our fortnight was desperate to get home.

My husband and I have just spent 2...
5 / 10
Jun 2005, Mrs S Ward

My husband and I have just spent 2 weeks at this hotel. The hotel is a lovely hotel, lovely and clean and the maid service was excellent. The sheets were changed every other day and the rest of the room was cleaned and immaculate every time we went back to our room.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis but this hotel is largely an all inclusive hotel so I cannot comment on the food.
If all you want to do is stay and sunbathe all day this is an ideal hotel but car hire is needed as the hotel is miles away from the resort of Protaras even though in the brochures they say it is in Protaras. There are only about 3 eating places near to the hotel and 2 of those whenever we went to look there were no customers so I did not fancy going to them. The one bar opposite the hotel was OK but the food was basic (ie. something with chips - junk food).
If you want to go out at night you have to book a taxi as nowhere is within walking distance. Protaras is about a 10 minute taxi drive which costs £5 Cyprus pounds each way and the nearest resort is called Penera which is about a 5 minute taxi drive away. Therefore to go anywhere you need to book a taxi.
The staff at reception were very helpful.
Breakfast is served from 7am until 10am. The cooked breakfasts were hot but no covers were over the food and there are quite a few flies flying about so I didn’t fancy eating it. The jam for toast was supplied in large glass containers so you could help yourself but again it was not covered. I cannot comment on any of the other catering as we were bed and breakfast apart from at lunchtime if you want something to eat there is a limited menu which consists of junk food.
So far as I could tell the customers on an all inclusive basis were happy with the hotel but I would not recommend it if you don’t want an all inclusive holiday.

We’ve just returned from a week at...
8 / 10
Jun 2005, Mr C. Whipps

We’ve just returned from a week at the Kouzalis Beach Hotel. We were in need of a quiet, relaxing break in a clean well managed hotel with some good food. That is exactly what we received.
The previous comments would have put us off if we had read them before booking but either the management have taken heed of the comments or the comments come from uptight nit-pickers. I suspect the latter.
The hotel is very clean, not one insect was seen and we were on the ground floor. Outside, the pool area was clean and quiet with a large grassy area and sufficient loungers.
The food was very good and varied with a choice of at least 4 types of meat cooked in a variety of ways to please just about everyone. There was a carvery twice during the week. A large choice of salads and sweets plus fresh fruit and cheese & biscuits.
For dinner, the restaurant manager will show you to your table and take your drink order, men must wear long trousers .
We are not the sit-on-the-beach-and-fry-all-day types so the small sand & shingle cove was not a disappointment. There are some good beaches in the area and Protaras, which is lovely, 10 mins away on the bus.
The entertainment is obviously low budget but is a light diversion with your evening drink. They also run the usual daytime games and are aware of the general low key ambience, so aren’t pushy.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL if you want a boisterous, active, drunken, anything-goes, don't-give-a-****-about-anyone-else-I'm-on-holiday holiday.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL if you want chips with everything as there were none during our week.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL if you think that being well dressed is wearing the latest football team shirt.
This hotel caters for those people who want to relax in a children free environment. If that’s what you want then you'll love it.

I had the misfortune to spend 2 weeks...

Sep 2004, daveesrc

I had the misfortune to spend 2 weeks at this hotel dreading the culinary delights each day that their catering staff were about to inflict upon us. Cold bacon and fried eggs ugh! A grey mess called Beef Stroganoff. Pork so tough you could mend shoes with etc. After 4 days we were forced to eat out as much as possible.
The hotel was clean and the room maid service was very good. The reception staff were always helpful and friendly.
The lack of English language satellite TV programmes was a little disconcerting especially as most guests were English.
The so called sandy beach was shingle!
I will certainly not be recommending this hotel to anyone neither will I return

Brochure pictures have obviously been...
4 / 10
Aug 2004, Mrs S Vallance

Brochure pictures have obviously been doctored, adjacent hotel has been completely airbrushed out and the private flats overlooking one side of the hotel and the pool haven’t got a mention. Majority of the rooms overlook car parks, pictures also seem to illustrate a sandy beach in front of the hotel, which is non-existent. Its all rocks which are also under the water close to the shoreline in the small cove (shingle and pebbles) which is used by another hotel and locals and not private to Kouzalis Beach as stated in some brochures and unsuitable for safe bathing.
The pool and gardens at this hotel are lovely and there are usually plenty of sunbeds available but sometimes outsiders come and use the facilities which is really annoying when you have paid for the privilege.
The hotel is actually nearer to Paralimni than Protaras and apart from one bar and one restaurant there is absolutely nothing within walking distance of the hotel (Summer Lovers bar, the staff are very friendly and the entertainment good). Entertainment at the hotel itself is far from 4*. The entertainment staff consisted of Big Al who had only been there a couple of weeks when we arrived in the middle of August. He is great fun and works really hard trying to cater for everyone, which is very difficult when the management seem to be working against you. They keep moving him to different locations in the hotel which makes things hard when you are trying to establish an entertainments programme and build a rapport with the guests, they will lose him if they don’t nurture this very funny, game guy.
Last but not least, the FOOD oh my, everyone I spoke to was complaining, breakfast was fine everything you could want, but lunch and dinner left a lot to be desired, Pork Picata twice and turkey roll 3 times in the 2nd week we were there and a curry that I wouldn’t give to next doors cat. Salads were very good but overdressed a lot of the time and topped up with leftovers from the previous meals.
Cakes and desserts were excellent if you got a chance to get some as the staff cleared them away if you hadn’t picked up a course by 9.30pm.
I thought a hotel had to earn its stars in line with other hotels of like in the country, Kouzalis Beach doesn’t bode very well for other hotels in Cyprus, I did read some poor reviews about it before we went but not before we booked and paid. I will certainly pay more attention to reviews before booking future holidays.

We have just spent two weeks at...

Aug 2004, thelma.hult

We have just spent two weeks at Kouzalis Beach. The rooms were lovely, every day they were cleaned and the maids were very helpful nothing was too much trouble for them.
The reception staff were not very helpful 4 times in the first 2 days we asked for another pillow and never got one in the end we asked a maid and got one in 5 minutes.
The bar staff and waiters were very unfriendly, in the whole 2 weeks only one, Kevin was friendly the others just hovered waiting for you to finish your meal then take your plate away. In fact you got to the point were you wouldn’t put your knife or fork down for fear of them taking your meal before you had finished. The food got worse as the fortnight went on we ended up eating out.
The entertainment was great all thanks to a chap called Alan. He really put his heart and soul into things but even then he the management seemed against him one week we were having a great time in the bar next week we were put in the restaurant down stairs, it was as if the management had a death wish but well done Alan, you and Kevin made the holiday for us. It was a pity the management couldn’t have put more effort in. We noticed at week ends when their friends came they couldn’t do enough for them still its their loss we won’t be going back to Kouzalis Beach again.

We chose the Kouzalis Beach Hotel in...
5 / 10
Aug 2004, Mrs Clayton

We chose the Kouzalis Beach Hotel in Protaras because we believed it was exactly the holiday we wanted in a resort we had experienced an enjoyable holiday in the past. To make the most of it we booked a fortnight "All Inclusive". The hotel brochure boasted "the quiet sophistication is the ideal place to unwind", this however was not our experience. Granted the hotel was "modern" and "comfortable", with a high standard of cleanliness. It did appear to provide all the ingredients for a relaxing holiday for adults, it was however the "All Inclusive" service that spoilt this idyllic scene for us.
After a day or two at the hotel, we began to realise that "All Inclusive" at this hotel was not what we would have expected it to be. For example, at all bars an "All Inclusive" list existed, which basically dictated the drinks that could be ordered by AI guests, which were locally produced drinks, which we expected, but only a limited number of cocktails, compared to over a dozen available to paying guests.
The outside snack bar also operated a two list system with a limited menu available for AI guests compared to paying guests. Also, paying guests received a more elaborate version of the snacks i.e., a mouth watering side salad with dressing served with a double cheeseburger and chips, compared to the AI burger and chips with its 1 piece of tomato and cucumber. As if that was not enough to annoy you, the staff at the bars and snack bar favoured cash paying guests and locals by serving them first, even if you were in the queue before them, which was probably for tips. Incidentally, the locals, who arrived each weekend, were not guests at the hotel, had not paid for the facilities and yet were allowed to take over vast parts in the sunbathing area and around the pool bars and snack bar, with the noticeable attentiveness of the previously ignorant staff.
When you consider that we had paid in advance for all of our food and drinks, we were given very poor service and value for money. We were, in effect made to feel like second class citizens, as if we wanted something for nothing. We certainly did not feel, as we should have on "All Inclusive" that the additional service gave the holiday the edge and added to our enjoyment.
I believe that the holiday company and the hotel should make clear what "All Inclusive" at the Kouzalis Beach hotel really means so that prospective customers know what they are getting for this additional cost.

I have previously written saying how...

Jun 2004, kayprice

I have previously written saying how great the hotel was last year. We have now been back this year and things are quite different....
We had problems with our room; the room itself was ok however we were due to have an upgrade if available as we were a wedding couple. We had to fight for 2 days for this although there was one available. We should have had champagne on arrival and never received it. My mother arrived a few days after us and had paid for a side sea view, her view was of the reception steps and air con vents!!
The overall standard of the Hotel was good except for the food, which was awful. We chose in the end to eat out most nights although we were all inclusive. The breakfast did not vary in any way for the whole 2 weeks, buffet lunch and dinner was of very poor quality with very little change. Vegetables which were left over were in the salads next day, and on a couple of occasions we were offered fish fingers for lunch which I certainly would not expect in a 4* adult only hotel!!
We and many others complained and some small improvements were made but all in all we wont be returning which is such a shame as the position and layout of the hotel is lovely.

Good quality hotel and facilities,...
8 / 10
May 2004, jcfareham

Good quality hotel and facilities, friendly staff and clean rooms. Meals included were a buffet style with good selection and good quality. Plenty of sun loungers by the pool and the adjacent grass area.
The photos in the brochure were cleverly taken, as there is a block of apartments overlooking the pool and another large hotel by the small bay. There is a good bar for drinks / snacks opposite the hotel and a supermarket for bottled water etc.
The only down side is the hotel is not within walking distance of Protaras.
There is a local bus service which stops near the hotel and it is cheap and quite frequent. There are a couple of small harbours within walking distance of the hotel. Hotel was for adults only and would certainly go there again.
Not so happy with Olympic. The charter flights were so different.
The outward flight was with Eurocypria Airlines - excellent service
The return was with Flyjet Ltd, which was dire with unhelpful attendants and atrocious service. I would never fly with Flyjet again and will check with the tour operator to confirm charter carrier before booking.
