We've just returned from a nice holiday at the Polycarpia. As previously mentioned the furniture is a little out of date but this would be my only criticism of the hotel, it does need updating. However, it's clean, the staff are very helpful and the food is fine. It's... more

Please take note of the poor reviews, they are all corect. Some 2 - 3 years on the food is still poor, and the hotel is in serious need of refurbishment. I would not recommend this complex. We booked a self catering holiday as we like to eat at various places but due to... more

The Polycarpia had mixed reviews before we went but we found the place to be great. The location is brilliant, plenty to do around and about and only a 10 minute stroll, along the beautiful coastline, into Protaras where it's much busier. The self catering apartment we had... more

I booked this holiday last minute when I found out my cousin was being married in Cyprus. On arrival at the hotel I was pleased because earlier the coach dropped people off at some hotels and I said to myself, "please don't let this one be mine!" Anyway, the lobby area... more

Lovely Holiday!
My Boyfriend and I booked a last minute bargain holiday to the Polycarpia and we got a lovely surprise! Hotel rooms are nice and clean, maid service every day and air conditioning is free in the hotel block. All areas of the hotel were spotless and hotel staff couldn't be friendlier. We stayed on an all inclusive basis, upgrading once we got there from our original half board booking, and we would highly recommend doing this! The pool area was lovely with plenty of sunbeds for everyone. Hotel entertainment on an evening was average, it was a little repetitive and it would have been better to see more guest singers, magicians or comedians. That said, we still enjoyed sitting with a a beer and a cocktail at the pool bar every night! For a change of scene it was nice to walk into nearby Pernera, around 5/10 minutes stroll away. Good bars and restaurants here and not too 'in your face'. Protaras is a 3/4 minute taxi ride away which only cost around £4. This is a lovely resort with a very good selection of bars and restaurants. The beach is gorgeous in Protaras, especially fig tree bay. The small beach near the hotel was very quiet and we prefered going into Protaras to the beach as there was more to see and do. All in all, we had a lovely holiday in a lovely resort and hotel.
GREAT !
booked last min and got quite a good deal, £880 for 2 adults, all inclusive for 1 week. Hotel was nice, a bit old and dated rooms and restaurant but really clean and friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel, all staff were fantastic, really polite and friendly and couldnt do enough for you, especially waiting on staff in restaurant entertainers milly and simon were a great laugh. only compliant was the evening meal was horrible almost every night there was ome weird and wonderful combinations especially on cypriot night, eat out that night! But i am fussy. breakfast was cereal, toast, fry up, tea cofee juice, finished at 10.00 sharp!Pool area was great, really clean and plenty of sunbeds. ROOMS WERE REALLY CLEAN TOO ONE TV CHANNEL A BIT ANNOYING THOUGH. MAIDS CAME EVERY DAY AND LEFT YOUR ROOM SPOTLESS. NO COMPLAINTS (APART FROM DINNER). WOULD RECOMMEND THE HOTEL ITSELF BUT THE LOCATION WAS A BIT RUBBISH NEAREST BEACH WAS TEN MIN WALK AND NOT WORTH VISITING. NOT A LOT OF BARS AND RESTAURANTS TO KEEP YOU GOING FOR A TWO WEEK STAY. WEATHER WAS GREAT THOUGH AND CYPRIOT PEOPLE ARE BRILLIANT. TAXI INTO AIYA NAPA IS ABOUT 9 CYP POUNDS AND RECEPTION MORE THAN HAPPY TO RING YOU ONE. WOULD GO BACK IF GOT ANOTHER GOOD DEAL LIKE WE DID AND GET OUT TO AIYA NAPA A BIT MORE TO THE BEACH AND WATER PARK NEXT TIME.
Family friendly relaxing week
We arrived back from a week at the Polycarpia today . This was our first time in Cyprus and we would go back again. The hotel is out of Protaras and takes approx 20 mins to walk there . The rooms were clean and the pools were were very clean. The room was cleaned every day and the towels changed daily. The food was a little boring and there was not a great selection, but it was hot and there was a good choice every day. The lunch menu offered a good selection, and this is taken around the pool. The staff were very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this hotel for families with children, our daughter is sixteen and there is not much in the was of entertainment in the evening if you dont go into Protoras
sun and all the beer you can drink
A holiday to remember.Got though larnaca airport pretty quick and the coach journey was ok takes about 45 minuites to get to the polycarpia. When we arrived and walked into reception it was loveley the man behind the desk carried our bags to the apartment. Please get air conditioning as soon as you check in if its during the night because you cant breath in the rooms without it costs about £45 cyp for two weeks and you get £10 cyp back when you return the key and remote you do get air con free if you stay in the hotel. The apartments are basic but very clean with cleaners in everyday and daily towel changes. The next day we upgraded to all inclusive as it is as dear as the uk to eat out it cost us £588cyp for 2 adults and 2 kids and was a bargain as you can drink as much and whatever you fancy including cocktails, english beers and soft drinks. The food was quite good breakfast was toast cereal croissants continental or full english cyprus style. The dinner at the snack bar was a choice off a menu which was a bit misleading as it says limited choice for all inclusive but you can have anything you want including requests.Tea was a bit hit and miss but ok plenty of choice, service of the bar staff and waiters was spot on they made you feel like royalty they would bring a big plate of fruite to your sun loungers during the day if you asked or drinks i would like to thank deyan and dill for this excellent service please when you go there say hello from curatco (the name they gave me on my first day) The entertainment was mainly run by simon who tried his best good man.A mixture of shows parrots, karoke, bingo, singers, dancers and quizzes. The pools were good and safe for children but they did use one for cypriot childrens swimming lessons.I would also like to thank all the great people we met sam ste simon and all the other guests that made our holiday thanks ian and nicola
great little apartments
Stayed in a studio Apartment. Lovely and spacious and spotlessly clean. The bathroom and balcony were at bit small but that didn't worry me too much. Paid extra to get the air conditioning and it was well worth it. The apartments have their own small pool, but you can also use the 2 pools at the Hotel as well. The brand new pool is fantastic. There are a few bars around the apartments but it is only a 5 minute stroll into Penera or a 15 minute walk into Protaras. I loved my stay here, even after reading a few bad comments about the apartments and would definately return.
not good food
after my family stayed in this hotel on the 14 june 2005 for 2 h/b the food was so bad that we ate out most nights also the BBQ was bad as i seen it been cooked they would leave it next to the BBQ after been cooked there was flys all over it and they dont cater for veritariens also when we booked the holidaty it said in he brocher that it had a shop and hairdressers they were both closed and didnt look like they had been open for a long time the good things about tthe hotel was the location it was inbetween protares and penera and near the water park and local shops the other realy good point was the entertainment which i thort was very good they were airtour entertainers and would put on entertainment everyday and night the day entertainment would be water polo, killer darts, killer pool, a quiz and much more and the night entertainment was mini disco for children then a quz and bingo and then a diffrent thing everynight like singing battle of the sexses and much more and after all that there would be a fun disco for the adults and older children. with been 2 cyprus, protaras about 5 times and i am going back to the appartments of this hotel as it was clean and well looked after as the maids were in everyday nearly. over all i think the only main problem was that the food was not nice and would consider only going to the appartments NOT the hotel or any other tsokkos as the entertainer told us that she was stopping in anothr tosskos hotel and the food was just the same so i would stay away from tsokkos hotels h/b or all in go self catering thank you for reading this.
Its hardly worth a 3* rating, let alone a 4!
Its hardly worth a 3* rating let alone a 4 !! We stayed in the Polycarpia in May 06, but never again. The rooms were shabby with air-con that was virtually useless. The public areas were drab - advertised shop / hairdressers etc; were closed. Our laundry / towels were mean't to be white were grey, have used better at home for floor cloths, and as far as the food - forget it. It was the same every day for breakfast, very little choice for evenng meal and poorly presented in large steel tins that hardly ever got topped up. Many guests chose to eat out, the all inclusive option on offer was not worth considering, even with free local brand drinks. To end on a postive note, the staff were very friendly, and the pool was excellent. Would we go again - no way !!
Not a 4*
Having just spent 2 weeks half board at the Polycarpia Hotel we would say to anyone thinking of going to be aware that this hotel is definatly not a 4* it is most probably only a 3*. The rooms were clean but shabby, the bathroom was very poor and dirty, the food was so basic most people ate out, the best thing about the hotel was the swimming pool and good and friendly service from the staff, the entertainment was very poor and disappointing
A Huge disapointing Shock
Me,my partner,my daughter and her friend booked to stay self catering at the polycarpia apartments. As we arrived at reception first impressions were excellent it was just what we had expected. However,as we were guided to our room we realised that the apartments were obviously a new addition to the hotel and were of a very poor standard. In the brochure it said we would have a furnished balcony..it was a smal step outside of our patio doors(we were on ground floor)and all it had was one plastic table and chair!.We had wardrobe space fit for one person only. Our room was supposed to accomodate comfortably 4 people and my daughter and her friend had two run-down camp beds in the front room to sleep on!.The whole apartment seemed dirty and old fashioned and NOT 4 star as the brochure suggested. We decided to upgrade to the hotel as this seemed the only solution paying an extra £250!,but we were delighted with the hotel rooms and the pools were lovely and clean.Along with upgrading to the hotel we paid extra for half board also and admitedly the food was good.Aside from the accomodation ALL of the staff were extreamly friendly and there were frequent activities for everyone at the poolside, which made us forget about our bad start and enjoy the rest of our stay!.
Not a 4 star
I stayed at the Polycarpia from 2-16th Oct 2004. I was supposedly booked under their all-inclusive plan, however once there, I found that this did not include items like..orange juice and the use of the mini-fridge in the room. These all had to be paid for. I even had to pay a returnable deposit for the TV remote control!!!!.Most guest were half-board, therefore the only place to get lunch, if all-inclusive, was one of the 2 pool bars, and even then some of the choices such as grilled pork chops carried a charge. The hotel advertisies it has a cafeteria, souvenir shop, hairdressing salon and Hermes Bar.....NONE of these existed. They also advertise daily and nightly entertainment. In the 2 weeks I was there , there was only ONE aerobics class , although a daily class was advertised in the reception area. I did query this with the management but they were not interested. The so-called entertainer, Natalie did make the odd appearance during the week but she was too busy talking to people she knew around the pool rather than organising any of the advertised activities. She was also supposed to organise the night entertaiment, however on several nights the advertised act did not turn up and guests were not given an explanation. One night per week there was a Greek night with live music and dancers, this was okay. On the remaining nights Natalie took the lazy way out and made guests entertain themselves with karaoke.A kids entertainment programme is also advertised for this hotel but this was also non-existent. The hotel itself is very clean, it has a 2 large pools and the staff , (except the receptionist),were friendly and helpful. It is also in a good location with easy access to a small bay and shops. All in all I would not recommend staying here if you expect a 4 level of service and entertainment.
