My boyfriend and I have just returned from our first Holiday together at the Polycarpia Hotel. We had a fantastic time & will Definitely be returning next September.
We were All Inclusive and couldn't have asked for anything more (except our Sealy Mattress & Kingsixe Bed). The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The Hotel was welcoming, clean, food was good, which was extrmely calming after all the terrible reviews we'd read but now know that some people expect a 7 Star Hotel when what they've booked and paid for is a 3/4.
Our room was cleaned & towels changed daily. We had to pay 2 Euro's per day to hire the fridge which was a little dissapointing but I needed Freezing cold Aftersun.
All the staff we're lovely and really helpful. Michelle & Dasha, the head waitress, in particular were our favourite. Dasha always had a Smile on her face and was always running round after everyone making sure they were okay.
The all inclusive was great, there was a variety of food offered day and night and chips were on the menu every night for anyone whos fussy. Some nights were nice and some were a little dissapointing for me but I knew that would happen as I am fussy. We ventured out 3 times but that was our choice as we wanted a romantic meal on our own. Breakfast was good, you had the option of toast/ceral or bacon, eggs, beans, sausages or continetal. If you did miss breakfast there's a snack bar at the leisure pool which serves food and drinks all day (A whole variety of things) from 10.30 till 5.30!
The Pools were Lovely. There is the "Quiet Pool" for those who wanted peace & there was also "Leisure Pool" where music is played & daily activities were done. The surrounding areas were Beautiful and the Beaches were a 3 minute walk away.
The hotel was about a 20 mins walk away from main strip in protaras & fig tree bay but it was a lovely walk with lots to see. You also have Pernera which was a 10 minute walk the other way, whichever you prefer.
The entertainment in the hotel was good but repeated, (Bingo, Quiz's, Singers, Karokee & a casino night). We played Bingo every night as we had a chance of winning 150 Euros.. Lol.. We did venture out a couple of nights but again that was our choice.
Kelsey, a 20yr old girl does entertainment, she is full of enthusiam and does an ok job (for her age & life experiences) Day time entertainment was good if you wanted to participate. You had Water Aerobics, Volleyball, Water Polo, Darts & Snooker Killer competitions. There is also a basketball & tennis court if you were feeling energetic. The hotel also has a gym but at 38 degrees there was no way i felt the need to get even more sweaty than I already was!!!
We met some Amazing people which also made the Holiday as a Fabulous as it was.
A Holiday is Definitely about what "You" make it & should not be "Nit picked and complained" about unless 100% genuine. We paid £550 for everything and think it was worth every penny. If you want 7 star Luxury then go ahead and PAY for it.

Please take note of the poor reviews, they are all corect. Some 2 - 3 years on the food is still poor, and the hotel is in serious need of refurbishment. I would not recommend this complex. We booked a self catering holiday as we like to eat at various places but due to poor accommodation, we paid to upgrade to hotel and all inclusive. During the 2 weeks we were there we saw many upgrading to all-inclusive even though the food was not very good. The entertainment was the same most nights and even though this was supposed to be a family complex, loud music was playing often until 1.30am.

The Polycarpia had mixed reviews before we went but we found the place to be great. The location is brilliant, plenty to do around and about and only a 10 minute stroll, along the beautiful coastline, into Protaras where it's much busier.
The self catering apartment we had was large, the air con very effective but cost 5 euros per day extra and a 20 euro refunable deposit. The only complaint I had was that, although the cleaners came in every day to make up beds and replace towels etc, the floor was never swept and became dusty and unclean. I would happily have done it myself as like most people I walk around in bare feet, but there was no long handled brush in the room.
There pools are not too busy and very clean and the pool bar/snack bar serves good food and cold beer.
The best thing about this hotel though was the pub just outside the hotel grounds - The Western Star Music Bar - do yourselves a favour and pop in and meet the fantastic couple running this place, Mark and Christine. There's a second to non atmosphere here with entertainment every night, fantastic food, plenty to keep the kids happy and a fantastic pint of cold Carling as well as local beers, bitter, guiness, cocktails etc. Laughs guaranteed for all. They make you feel so welcome and we had a number of great nights here and were within a minutes walk from home. Will definately go back to the Polycarpia one day and DEFINATELY will go back to the Western Star. Keep up the great work guys.

Upon arrival at lam after a three hour delay,we checked in and was given a room with two beds when there was two adults and our daughter.Back to reception to complain was told nothing could be done until the morning and we were given keys to a second room where my husband ended up sleeping on another floor of the hotel. The air con did not work and sweated out what was left of our nights sleep. The rooms in general were dirty and very shabby.
The only shining light to this grotty hotel was Christine on reception who did her utmost to sort out any problems. After asking our hotel rep if she could find another hotel for us and being told there was no chance,we settled for the apartment block next door because the air con worked!Baring in mind we had paid for a 4 star hotel(which we would hardly rate 3 star) and ended up in a self catering block it was most disappointing.
The restaurant is very depressing, hot and uncomfortable and the food quite basic. Not much for children to eat except chips.
The evening entertainment consists of bingo, gambling, bad singing. The childrens disco is the same every night.
There is no way this is a 4 star hotel and would not recommend it to anyone.WE WON'T BE RETURNING!
Really liked Protaras with its beautiful beach and warm, clear water at Fig Tree Bay.

As with reading other reviews we went with an open mind, but upon arrival were pleasently surprised at the hotel, This just got better during the course of our holiday.
The reception was very clean uncluttered and always pleasently manned and helpfull 24hrs.
The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis with clean towels availble should you require them.
The pool area was spotless and cleaned on a daily basis. The Restaurant, there was pleanty of choice until you came to the dessert, which was a choice of 3 ice creams or cake/gateau every evening, which by the end of the week was pretty boring but still yummy. The restaurant staff were a bit over enthusiastic at clearing your pots away, sometimes while still eating, but were generaly nice.
The hotel staff overall were really really pleasent, especially christine on reception (But there again she is a yorkshire lass).
The hotel location is quiet with only a few mins walk to the super coastline.
A super holiday, a super hotel cant wait to go back.
As for the rep ... well thats another page...

I booked this holiday last minute when I found out my cousin was being married in Cyprus. On arrival at the hotel I was pleased because earlier the coach dropped people off at some hotels and I said to myself, "please don't let this one be mine!" Anyway, the lobby area was lovely and the lady on the front desk couldn't be more helpful which somes up the service here; ALL the staff are great!!! Then I went upto my room, the rooms are larger than most other hotels in the area, they are clean, the bathrooms nice and the view was great. The next morning I ventured down to the pool, there are 2 pools. I was wondering where everyone was??? This was common place, the pools don't get crowded, which I loved, and there was always plenty of sun loungers about. The only negative about this hotel is FOOD. Breakfast is fine, can't really go wrong with that, but dinner is barely edible! It was so repetitive and they usually only had 2 or 3 options, on a few occasions I found myself ordering from the childrens menu because there was nothing I liked. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone, just go B&B or SC!

My daughter and I requested a good, clean hotel within easy reach of a beach, nice pools, a view, friendly staff and within a safe environment and that's exactly what we got! The rooms were clean with all facilities, balcony with views of one of the 3 pools and sea which was lovely to sit out on. The food was good, varied and plentiful, something to suit all tastes. Staff were exceptionally friendly and we stayed by the pool bar most evenings for the entertainment. Well done to Mike and Steph and all the staff for 'keeping the ball rolling!'
Thanks to everyone for making our stay very enjoyable

We stayed at the Polycarpia for one week. The hotel itself is nothing special, but the staff more than made up for this. Our room was cleaned daily with clean towels everyday of our stay. The food was more than adequate with e nice selection at every meal.
The evening entertainment left a lot to be desired unless you were into quizes or bingo.
There is a tiny beach nearby, but take the time to walk along the new promenade to the beach at protarus (about 15 minute pleasant walk) The beach is about three miles of golden sand with safe swimming and water sports.
The town of protarus is lively with plenty of stores clubs and resturants
All in all a wonderful holiday for a couple of frequent travellers.

With this hotel and the bad reviews that went with it we had very low expectations but as soon as we arrived our views changed completly. We arrived at 11:30 in the evening and were starving when we arrived. The receptionist was very helpful in telling us places to go and find places to eat near by, she also changed our room for us when the air con was not working to a room with a sea view which you usually have to pay more for. All other staff very useful, friendly and funny. Entertainers were the best, Mike and Steph made the holiday, with water volley ball and polo everyday as well as great evening entertainment - Ive never seen an audience be so enthusastic about a quiz. The only bad point about the holiday was that the food was not the greatest but there are many little places to eat a very short walk away. Will defo return if were given the chance.

We've just returned from a nice holiday at the Polycarpia. As previously mentioned the furniture is a little out of date but this would be my only criticism of the hotel, it does need updating. However, it's clean, the staff are very helpful and the food is fine. It's quite english based so there should be no problem finding something you like, especially as if you are half board like we were, you could change your dinner to lunch if you wanted to, so rather than the buffet at dinner the lunch menu contained burger & chips, jacket potatoes, sandwiches etc so you could mix it up. There's a nice pub around the corner called the Spectrum which also does nice cheap food. Protaras centre is about a 20 min walk with lots of shops, bars and crazy golf, plenty to keep you occupied. There's also a McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and Zizzi's! There's also a handy bus which costs 2euros that you can get on and off as much as you like in a day which goes to the centre of Protaras, Fig Tree Beach, Ayia Napa and other places.
