Me and my wife got married at the Cavo Maris, We had the time of our life, the hotel is great and the staff are brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Drinks and food was a bit expensive. We stayed B+B and the breakfasts were great with a huge selection of food and drinks. We'ld definately return

Fantastic time and great hotel and best value
I have spent great 8 days in the hotel. It is classified as 3 stars but the location and facilities and service is beyond this. Room I got had two nice views one with sea view and another with pool view. It was well organized and beutiful. I wa in B&B and food was fine. pool is always crowded and you have to reserve the beds early in the morning. People staying there are mostly families with children and the environment there is lovely. It has an access to the beach for convenience with nice watrer sports facilities, howevr, I would recommend going to fig tree bay (15 minutes walk or 5 pounds by taxi), it is much better. There is a super market near the hotel and some good restaurants near by. Area is quiet and lovely. At night, you can take the bus to ayia napa (around10 minutes by bus). There is always activites at night for kids and families if you like to attend it. Finally, I loved the hotel and would love to stay there again the next time I visit Cyprus.
A good 3 star resort
The Cavo Maris is a good 3 star resort. It is family oriented and most of the guests while we were there in July were British or German families. The rooms and facilities are kept very clean and the serving staff is friendly. Some factors to be aware of: - The all inclusive holiday meals are buffet style. There is an a la carte menu but if you want to order from that it must be paid for. The buffet is fine for a 3 star hotel although both lunch and dinner are similar. I would have liked the option of ordering some of the a la carte menu options, especially after a few days. - there is a small bar menu outside buffet times. - you'll need to check before you order that your drinks are from the all-inclusive list. As is typical imported liquor is not but some of the options were less clear. For example, iced coffee was not included but frappe coffee was. There is a list. - North Americans particularly will need to be aware that some things you might have thought should be included are not. For example, you have to rent beach towels daily including a damage deposit (or buy them from the gift shop) - the beach below the hotel is a public one so you have to pay to sit on the sun beds (the ones higher up are on hotel property and are free) - there is a very nice sheltered public beach but it is rocky including very large boulders so bring water shoes. - the entertainment included a magic show, kareoke, musical quiz, a local band and folk entertainment. - there is one internet station but it is about $7 an hour.
Fantastic, Service second to none, very friendly
We stayed there for the middle 2 weeks in June. It was brilliant. Plenty of beds round the pool virually the whole holiday. (only advise isdon't go when there is a cypriot bank hol as the hotel is full to the brim for the weekend and you will struggle to get a bed) We took 2 children and they loved it, they made loads of friends and really enjoyed themselves in the park and in the pool. there was also a briliant disco at night for them. As for the adults there was aqua aerobics, dancing, water polo football and volleyball amongst other things to get involved in, but unlike other hotels they don't pester you to get involved if you don't want to. Sergio and Goran the entertainers were excelent. There was plenty af food, they do a different theme every night We all enjoyed it. The hotel/ bar/ waiters/waitress's staff could not do enough for you very friendly and polite. We stayed all inclusive which I would recommend as Cyprus is quite pricey and we only spent £200 the whole 2 weeks and that was only because of a couple of trips and we went to a wedding and a stag and hen do. You can upgrade whilst at the hotel. As for going again, we will definately go again next year. We can't wait to go to the repeaters meal (they hold a repeaters banquet every week for people who have been before) My parents are going to go again in September - lucky things.
Perfect in May!
really glad to have picked this hotel. The rooms are a little basic but clean...and besides, you didn't go to Cyprus to be holed up in your room all day did you? Each room has a balcony where you can chill out and catch a lovely breeze in the evenings. Next time I'd maybe upgrade to a sea-view room, but garden view still nice. Personally thought that breakfast was a bit on the rubbish side, but other brits and germans seemed to be tucking in with much vigour. played it safe and stuck to cereal and toast, and because of that i didn't eat at the hotel for lunch or dinner. if you like tasty food i'd say it would be best to go half board and grab lunch and dinner outside the hotel. so that's the negative stuff. but it didn't bother me much because the grounds of the hotel were so lovely. if you look at the pics it looks like there are five hundred million sunbeds in a tiny space, but actually when you're there it's really lovely and roomy. there are about four tiers once you come outside: the first is where the two pools are (one for kids, although the majority of them went in the larger one, and so it could be a bit noisy at times, but nice noisy). there is also a poolside bar and snack bar here, and then it leads on the grass lawn where there are sun loungers and cool 50s music playing softly in the background. down a few steps and there are the second and then third 'tiers' of grass lawns with more sun loungers and shades...and there really are enough for everyone! then down some more stairs and you'll find the hotel's own cosy little beach bay. very picturesque with rocks all round. yes, the water has lots of smooth rocks on it, but i don't see that as a problem, you just feel all close to nature, and sometimes it's nice to be different! you can take boat trips from here which i would definitely recommend. at the time we went i thought it was gorgeous. it was so quiet and peaceful. the majority of people that were there just wanted to chill out. quite a mature crowd i'd say, but i'm 27 and i loved it. there was nothing better than falling asleep on your sun lounger in the afternoon with the lovely warm breeze blowing around you. mmmm. okay, as always i'm getting carried away. would definitely come again in may. hotel staff were extremely friendly at all times. hotel is very well positioned...about a lovely 20 minute walk from protaras but far away enough not be get annoyed by the uk-centric touristy side of it. fig tree bay is a beautiful beach about 25 mins walk and make sure you eat at Diva restaurant...food and staff are amazing - we ended up eating there 4 nights in a row! so go in may if you can...really peaceful and weather was beautiful (over 80 degrees daily)!
Where else can you go after ten years and find it exactly the same
We returned to Cavo Maris Hotel after 10 years and yes it is still the same, been up- dated of course, but still with good food, good rooms, excellent service, cleanliness second to none. We have been to hotels around Europe but the hospitality and service you get from all staff at the Cavo Maris is undoubtedly rare. I personally think the hotel has the best position just on the edge of Protaras having its own sandy beach. There are a few watersports on offer on the beach and it is very safe for children. The swimming pools are very clean and are set in beautiful landscape gardens, sunbeds are free and plenty of them to go round for all guests. There is a bus service and the bus stops outside the hotel. I don't know when we shall be back at the Cavo Maris but I do know we won't be waiting another 10 years.
Possibly the cleanest and best positioned hotel in Protoras
Possibly the cleanest and best positioned hotel in Protoras. Situated 10 mins from the beautiful Fig tree bay this hotel was a pleasure from beginning to end. My father originates from Cyprus so I'm fortunate in being very familiar with the country, and Protoras has always been top of my list. From the time we arrived, we were attended to by helpful staff in particular the management, who, ensured that our greek easter buffet was enjoyed by all! The children were treated like royals and everyone was polite and friendly. Luckily it was peaceful and quiet at the time we went, mid April, perfect to relax and unwind. Liked the fact that lots of Cypriots holidayed there, always a good sign, as I know how fussy they can be... It's set just above a cove, that seems it belongs to the hotel as we were the only ones on it. Even better is the famous Fig tree bay, close by that resembles swimming in a bath, as its waters are so clear and warm. Sand is nearly white, beach was clean and quiet. Mother in law genuienly does not want to travel anywhere else after staying at the cavo maris and we are presently booking a fortnight next April for the rest of the family. Great choice if I say so myself.
Great Hotel, Clear water
The Cavo Maris Beach Hotel proved perfect for our requirements for the two week family holiday (last week in July/First week August). Entrainment every night in some form and during the day. We stayed fully inclusive and food and drink was on tap all the time. We had a family room and two bunk-beds (for the preteen children) nicely fixed to the wall and one single room for the sixteen year old The beach area is picturesque, with long beach walks all around, you can also catch a bus to go further. The staff are fantastic and can't do enough to help. Our drink orders were taken as we sat down at the table (lunch/dinner) in the restaurant and the food was of a good standard. Our children tried the main buffet food, this was good, but there was a children’s selection, chips, nuggets, sausages etc. Everything else was quite nice. It was a fairly quiet location, next to a lovely small clean beach. The sea water is very clear all around that area. The hotel and pool were clean and tidy. There is a bus stop just across the road from the hotel (Aiya Napa - Paralimni - Protaras), or you can walk to the town and the nighlife. You should try the water park. While we book with Cosmos (no problems), the flight used was with First Choice Airways and lets say will not be using that company ever. We will return, but not using that airline.
Will go back
This is a 3 star hotel that is not really doing it's self justice, at 3 stars it is underated. Approx 1hr 30 mins transfere time from Larnaca Airport but worth the travel. The hotel is wheel chair friendly. The air conditioning in our room was poor, a large room with a safe and fridge (both charged localy). The beds were rock hard, to me not nice but other liked it that way, a matter of choice really! The indoor resteraunt needed air conditioning especially when the reception and shop had theirs on most of the day, the breakfast had a wide range that would satisfy most.We didnt dine in the resteraunt for lunch or evening meal as we were on B&B basis and the proximity to outside resteraunts is very good, but we had been told that it was very good and value for money. Plenty of room to get a sunbed around the pool, no need to be up at 0600 to put a towel on a bed.The POOL is UNATTENDED and approx half way down it is roped where it drops sharply to a depth that a 6'3" person would be well out of their depth. Entertainment is amature to say the least, but they do not pester you to join in, its there if you want it. All the staff are very nice and helpfull, from the chamber maids (rooms are cleaned daily) to the manager. About 40 mins walk into Protaras along a road that is easily acessed by wheel chair users and able bodied alike. Do yourself a favour and walk that little bit further through Protaras there are some very nice resteraunts that are not that expensive.
Not worth the money
It was a mistake to stay at the Cavo Maris during high season. There was just too many problems with the service. We ordered a family room but were stuck in a twin room with 4 beds squeezed in. We complained but were told there were no family rooms available. The all-inclusive customers were treated second class compared to bed & breakfast customers. AI customers were refused service when the restaurant/bars were 'closed' yet they continued to serve BB customers. During mealtimes, the waiters would take our drink orders when entering the restaurant but we were still waiting for our drinks when we had finished our meals. Half of the drinks & snacks offered on the menus at the hotel bars aren't included in the AI package. The entertainment was near non-existent. You get the occasional magic trick or someone juggling in the evening, which only lasts for about 15 minutes. The hotel shows movies in your room every night but sometimes you'll be halfway through watching the film when the DVD menu will appear & the movie restarts all over again. Everything else was quite nice. It was a fairly quiet location, next to a lovely small clean beach. The food was okay but nothing fancy - the adult buffet was mainly British food & the children's buffet was mainly junk food, like chips & chicken nuggets. The hotel & pool were very clean & tidy. There is a bus stop just across the road from the hotel (Aiya Napa - Paralimni - Protaras) & a few cafe's & snack shops nearby. Overall, the holiday wasn't worth the money we paid (£650 each for a one week package holiday) but it's okay if you manage to get a good bargain.
be one of the family
staff so freindly that if they see you in town they will give you a lift back to the hotel.mention a problem and it will be sorted.we spent two weeks here and will be back.we have received birthday and christmas cards ever since we came home.nothing is to much trouble.
